why is the 360 outselling the ps3?

because it's a $100 cheaper? Thing is with live which is its main selling point that's $50 so suddenly it's a $50 difference. The elite is actually more expensive. The ps3 has blu-ray, wifi, better hardware, better games coming. Is this just another case of microsoft preying on the stupidity of the world? It pays to be first. MY friend has one so it must be better?

i'm surprised the ps3 had such a lousy month in april though. it seems like it would have picked up with killzone and mlb the show. what does the 360 have?

PRICE. the price is the biggest factor.

in australia the cheapest 360 is $299
whilst you can get a ps3 for $699.

with such a price like that the ps3 deserves to get pounded in sales.
anyway, that didnt stop me from getting a ps3 in april.

i'm not knocking the 360 either although it sounds like it. I actualy really like my 360. It does everything i need for a decent price. But the ps3 isnt that much more expensive and it's better in most areas. The only reason i posted this is because the ps3's main detractor is its sales and lack of support from 3rd parties because of it. I might choose the 360 over the ps3 because of this which is a shame, because i believe the ps3 is the more complete system. But it's lack of 3rd party support is frustrating. You can tell the 360 is the favored system when it comes to 3rd party stuff because it sells more. If the ps3 sold more it wouldnt be that way.

In a perfect world the ps3 would be the number 1 system and there would be no need for the 360 lol.

It's all about the price, especially with today's economy. Sony has two SKUs, where even the cheapest one is still $200 more than the cheapest 360 SKU. I think that you'll start to see sales rise a lot more once the economy gets better.

You also forgot that basicly the way a system wins is by getting casuals to buy the system, and halo is the thing getting casuals to buy for the 360, while the ps3 only has the blue ray.

Sorry you cant play the "oh it was a launch console" card when it was outselling it for some 20 months and would probably still be outselling it if MS hadn't cut the price.

It's a lot cheaper. People can say "Better Marketing" and "More Games" all they want but the PS3 and 360 stopped being more evenly selling around the time the arcade became half the price of the PS3.

Aside from price, 360 has a better reputation among consumers despite all the malfunction reports. Brand recognition and an earlier launch both contribute to this. 360 is just plain more popular.

ps3 has nothing but shooters.
That's why.

Price is naturally the biggest reason, but there are other factors too. For one an average person will not be able to tell you the difference from a game perspective. Halo and Gears of War are known considerably better then the average top games on the PS3.

Resistance even with a sequel is unknown, Killzone 2 is pretty low on the list too (this is not to say they do not sell, there are well over 20 million ps3's sold, just that they do not play into an average sale as much as halo, or geow or gta might). The games like GTA which the ps brand was known for (i know it was on xbox but much later) come out both at the same time for both consoles with no difference (unless you really need them to be there) and actually superior, from a content perspective on the 360 (though again few people will probably know this).

And whoever thinks that the ps3 is catching the 360 is sorely mistaken. Just so you know, if the 360 sells more then the ps3 (being that the 360 is ahead), they are not catching squat.

The arcade comes with a memory unit. Someone can buy that, a cheap game and be good to go. That's a major factor neither other system has going for it. Doesn't hurt that MS has several bundle deals going at any given time as well that add games to existing SKUs at no extra cost. May not be great games that appeal to us, but that $199 system, at Toys R Us anyway from what I saw today, has Sega Superstar Tennis and several arcade games. Add in a budget priced game like Lost Odyssey/DMC4/Gears of War/Lost Planet/PGR3/Burnout Paradise etc. and a guy can have a next gen system, about seven games, and all for just a little over $200. The lowest cost PS3 with no game costs double that. Their is other, optional costs, and we've all seen those dumb arguments before, so let's not go there again. For the average Joe looking to game on a budget, that looks damned good.

If I were Sony, I'd be bundling in the 80GB system at least Killzone 2, Uncharted, or Resistance 2, and an older Blu Ray movie that still serves as a great showcase for the HD improvement Blu offers, like Casino Royale. I'd also include at least component cables.

I think the more important question is why is the PS2 stilloutselling the PS3 occasionally? It seems gamers are more enamored with Sony's last gen as opposed to this gen.
