EDIT: Altered the OP slightly because some people misconstrued it as "social = social media" or sharing functions. This is about games, because this topic is for the players.
Anyway,
From MS camp Crackdown 3, Scalebound, Halo 5, Forza 6, Gears Ultimate Edition, Fable Legends, Gears 4, Sea of Thieves, Halo Wars 2 (the original had MP, it's given) will all feature and most of them will heavily rely on multiplayer or co-op component. Rare Replay has it too IIRC.
On the other hand Sony didn't even include MP in Nathan Drake Collection save for limited UC4 beta. If you look at past big budget console exclusives: Forza 5 & Horizon 2, Dead Rising 3, Ryse, Titanfall, Sunset Overdrive, Halo MCC (broken for some time but still). Hell, even lesser budget game Screamride had it in form of shared campaigns.
Let's not even bring the likes of World of Tanks into the equation.
However, It's not like they blindly include it in every game. Quantum Break or Ori don't have it.
I think in most cases, unless MP is a tacked on afterthought, it can significantly prolong shelf life of games and prevent them from being traded in a week after completion.
EDIT 2: this fragment means that not every implementation of multiplayer is a successful one, but in some cases it might give some games a bit of longevity.
Why isn't Sony pushing for more of this component in its games? Only Bloodborne and Driveclub seem to have noteworthy MP components with sizable followings.
So the question is why Sony isn't pushing more in this direction?
Aside from making the PS4 more socially connected, they also need to push their first party releases, better UI, an improved/ elite controller, better servers, backwards compatibility, DVR functions, and more voice commands.
I agree, if they're going to be charging for online they need to make it worth it with games you can't play online for free on PC or with a better service on Xbox Live.
B/c Sony sucks, PS4 sucks, Uncharted sucks, the UI sucks, the trapazoid look sucks, the controller sucks, my Sony HDTV sucks....my shoes sucks....my house sucks.....
Eh, I' rarely ever use the social media functions on either console, I don't use Facebook, Twitter and I don't really use the Twitch streaming service, obviously I don't speak for everyone but I really don't think these are deal breakers.
As far as online goes, they stepped up their game and they had massive improvements over the PS3, however like some people said you don't really need MP in every game. I'd rather them not put in a MP if it's going to detract from the single player.
Your thread makes no sense. You are clearly referring to multiplayer, not "social" features. Either way, Sony has pushed for both. Bloodborne is a perfect example of a game that makes great use of social features and multiplayer. Driveclub is also another game that is heavily focused on community. LittleBigPlanet too. Also, Sony has designed the system around social even going as far as to include a share button on their controllers. One thing that Sony does far better than MS is having a wide variety of games. MS barely has any games that are single player focused while Sony has a nice balance of both.

To be fair, the TC said Social ASPECT in the title, not features. I don't consider being able to share my trophies on FB a social aspect of gaming. Social aspect of gaming to me is multiplayer gaming and TC did say Sony has a few but pointed out that from what we see the Xbox tries this a bit more. Not every game needs that and not every game has it on Xbox either.
To be fair TC, you forgot that KZSF has multiplayer though.

At this point it's just arguing semantics, but aspect is literally a synonym for feature.
I believe I used "to me". It is semantics. But I can see a feature being share the trophy you just earned to FB, where as the aspect of social gaming is actually speaking to and playing with other gamers. As I said that's just a personal breakdown though.

Sharing trophy data is only one of the things you can do on the PS4 though.
Live-streaming games (with some games even allowing audiences to directly impact live gameplay) and stuff like Share Play that lets you pass the controller or play multiplayer with someone across the world even if they don't have the game are clear examples of social gaming by any measure.
No doubt. I am not saying there ISNT social gaming on the PS4. I was just saying I think, and correct me if I am wrong @Salt_The_Fries he was making the use of the word aspect as multiplayer gaming as in co op or competitive in the traditional sense that we have known it to be. There is no way anyone can say the PS4 doesn't support social gaming.
Well this is one of the reasons why I think their confidence in Rocket League was a great move, because it helped bolster their somewhat thin online offerings. SF5 should help with that as well considering they are doing a beta this early in release, although the first attempt didn't go well, they still have time for release. Shareplay is also a cool online-based feature as it apparently allows you to play couch co-op online. Bloodborne has online.
That being said, they are still behind Microsoft overall imo. Halo 5, as long as it doesn't repeat the MCC fiasco, looks like it is going to be a monster as far as online is concerned, especially with Warzone. Then you have Forza 6 which is bringing online leagues, and 24 players online via dedicated servers, another beast if all turns out well. And the stuff you mentioned in the OP as well. So, I think Sony is doing fine in that regard, DriveClub is on dedicated servers at least, but imo MS has the upper hand here overall.
Video streaming, video sharing, screenshot sharing, SharePlay, significant multiplayer components in multiple games, such as Bloodborne, DriveClub, and Uncharted, great connected social experiences via Party Chat, and you're saying they're not pushing for social?
The DUALSHOCK®4 controller features new innovations to deliver more immersive gaming experiences, including a highly sensitive six-axis sensor as well as a touch pad located on the top of the controller, which offers completely new ways to play and interact with games. The new SHARE button puts video streaming and sharing a tap away.
The Share Button
The new DualShock 4 controller features a new button designed to let players share whatever they want on the fly: The Share Button.
This was displayed in use in a live demo at the PS4 reveal and showcased the ability to pause a game, select a section of video, and upload it instantly to a social service. Up to 15 minutes of footage can be stored in the background before you hit Share, making sure that you never miss an amazing, off-the-wall moment that you absolutely must send to your followers. The fact that the system stores 15 minutes of footage prior to the moment you hit the Share button gives most players enough leeway to keep playing before creating a video to make sure your footage is leading to something worth posting.
Among the options for sharing footage are Facebook, Ustream, Twitch, and Twitter for screenshots. YouTube is currently not an option. This will be a remarkable feature for livestream gamers and the Let's Play community who wish to distribute fun footage at the tap of a button. A small editing feature allowing users to trim videos will be available as well.
If you’re streaming, remember to turn off your mic if you go online so others can’t hear you. This is an issue that crept up in Need for Speed: Rivals'.It’s a game that combines open-world racing with a spontaneous multiplayer element. Unfortunately, when streaming your voice could carry over to other players during game play and they could hear what you’re saying, and it could get awkward.
It was also announced that this service will integrate heavily with your PlayStation friends, and allow you to view and share videos with all of your friends simply and quickly. When tagging videos it was also revealed that they will continue to upload even when you return to the game.
If you do not wish to share them via social media, you may simply just store video files on your PlayStation 4's hard drive.
The Share function can be restricted within certain games by its developers. For instance, a developer can disable the use of the Share button during key plot points or boss fights to prevent the sharing of spoilers.
SHARE BUTTON FUNCTIONALITY
The Share button has a few quick commands that you may use to quickly share gameplay without interrupting your game.
Action
Function
Quick Press
Opens the Share menu, saves a screenshot, and creates a save file of the last up-to 15 minutes of gameplay.
Long Press
Snaps a Screenshot at that moment.
Double Press
Sets the start point for a new video clip. Quick Press to end your current clip.
Integrated Social Networks
At this time, the only revealed social networks that are currently revealed to be available on the PS4 are Facebook, Twitter, and the video-streaming websites U-Stream and Vimeo.
There have been some issues with streaming for certain games, Battlefield 4 being one of them that the video will stream with no sound. If one hits the stream button on the controller and then goes to stream options, you can set the video to stream with Mic Chat that will record with the video or during a live stream. This was not a proven fix for Battlefield 4's no sound with video but it does allow in-game chat to be played with the video being viewed during certain times.
Social Profile
The re-designed PlayStation Network also features a re-designed way of looking at user profiles. Instead of using aliases in the form of screen names, the PS4 is designed to encourage the use of real names and the connectivity between real friends using the new social network. Users must send a Real Name request to users on their friend list to see their Real Name.
It is known, at this point, that friend interactivity will play a big part in the console's infrastructure and there will be features available such as live chatting, video sharing, and even hand-holding, a feature that allows a remote user to take control of a user's controller and help them through a difficult part in a game. These features will be available via system update in the near future.
The PS4 supports up to 2,000 friends, while the PS3 still only supports 100. Users are able to set a pre-determined list to show up on the PS3 if the user has more than 100 friends on the Playstation Network. If the user does not set a list, Playstation Network automatically filters the user's friend list when logged in to a PS3.
Adaptive Network
It was also revealed at the event that the PlayStation 4 has been designed to learn about the player using it, and the experience will be tailored completely depending on user preferences.
Examples of this were given in relation to the PlayStation Store and what games will appear. Depending on the user's preferences, and the PS4's learning capabilites, it is believed that the store will adapt and make relevant recommendations for your play style.
It will also go so far as to download games and updates in advance that it thinks you will like.
Online Connection
PlayStation 4 titles will be accessible without an Internet connection. You do not need to connect your PlayStation 4 to the Internet in order to enjoy single-player experiences, though online multiplayer from games such as Call of Duty: Ghosts, will require both an Internet connection and a PlayStation Plus online membership.
Yukimura also adds the ability to back-up and restore your system to an external USB drive (a feature that was supposed to be in the 2.0 update a few months ago) and expands the console's social media options. New features include the ability to share video clips directly to Dailymotion, post Trophy screenshots with the press of the "Share" button, or even search your Facebook contacts to find people that are also PSN members and add them as friends. In addition to those pre-announced features, the update also brings the introduction of "verified accounts," which will work a lot like the blue tick you might have noticed adorning celebrities' Twitter accounts. A special badge will soon highlight developers, producers, designers and community managers so you know that they're the real deal.

Dude you're not doing it right. You ignore that and diss the company. It's SW.:P

This is system wars lol When there's a narrative you'll be damned they'll always miss out important aspects that go against the narrative. Just makes for funnier threads :P
Sony couldn't make a good multiplayer game even if they had all the money and time in the world to do it. They should just stick to what they are used to, single player, and let MS and Nintendo do the whole multiplayer thing. There is nothing wrong with that.
I'll cut Sony slack since they didnt charge for online last gen. Its the reason why I bought a PS3 next to my xbox 360. I think by next gen their service should be decent.
I mainly play games for story not social aspects. Hell the fact Sony had Facebook integrated pissed me the **** off and was a major reason I didn't even bother buying a ps4. I'm the only one in my friends group who enjoys video games as a main hobby, so this social integration and need isn't even a part of my gaming experience.
B/c Sony sucks, PS4 sucks, Uncharted sucks, the UI sucks, the trapazoid look sucks, the controller sucks, my Sony HDTV sucks....my shoes sucks....my house sucks.....
Great topic, one of the reasons I don't own a PS4 is for this very reason. Not too many games with online co-op/multiplayer that are fun or engaging like what is offered on Xbox One. It seems Sony is focused on 1080p. Miss the games like Socom, Twisted Metal, and Motorstorm which offered great social multiplayer/co op experiences. For now its just Bloodborne and Helldivers that offer entertainment in this category. Just hope Sony can get back on track and worry less about 1080p and just bring the excitement back with some engaging multiplayer/co op experiences.
When you have third-party like FFXIV and Street Fighter V to (more than) fill the gaps what more could you want?
And to coincide with the topic everyone has the OP confused with social features are gimmicky by nature and usually short-lived. Like how many mofos are gonna tweet about their trophies or use a shitty web browser when most homes will contain much better alternatives (ie laptop/PC) for web-browsing/Facebook/w.e?
Probably because PSN is garbage, and Sony would rather have their developers work on flashy graphics instead of creating new and fun gameplay mechanics.

Damn good topic TC. There are really two different camps here. Maybe Sony sent a memo out to devs saying don't worry about MP because their system can't support it.
Other missed opportunities are games like The Order: 1886 missed the boat for MP. Weak Sauce.
Simple answer, PSN is junk, Sony knows it, the community knows it, developers know it.
Hahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.... You are so full of shit is not even funny B4X.
I can even control your game using share play we can play fu**ing play co-op without both owning the same copy of the game,PSN is so ahead of xbox live now is not even funny.
But but but now live will do PC vs XBO oh welcome to last gen and this one to sony did it first.
But but mods again welcome to last gen.
Get back at me when MS has something like share play.
