Dude Nintendo doesn't care about Hardcore anymore...they made that clear....any hardcore that still backs them is very delusional.

The hardcore plumber and his brother in the mushroom kingdom, going off to rescue a princess for a dragon man thing?
When have nintendo ever been "hardcore"
They even removed blood from mortal combat when the snes version was released.
You're confusing gratuitous violence with game quality again. (not that that wasn't a little paranoid).
What makes a game hardcore is the gameplay experience. Your definition has just declared 50cent Bulletproof as more hardcore than Blue Dragon.
I think you all are seriously frogetting the past and I agree with angryfodder. Think about all the titles that were denied a Nintendo licence because of blood and gore even on the Gamecube. From all accounts anything gets approved on the Wii even games like Manhunt. If anything that shows they are more committed to hardcore gamers....or that they don't care anymore...just want to make a quick buck...i mean how the hell do all the showelvare games get approved?...what happened to NINTENDO SEAL OF QUALITY?
Oh but the shovelware on the PS2 was not a problem. Manhunt is no shovelware title but it probably would not have been licenced on the Gamecube.[QUOTE="Firelore29"][QUOTE="Tylendal"][QUOTE="angryfodder"][QUOTE="Adonymous"]Nintendo apologists ftl.

Nintendo seal of quality means nothing more than it works on a paticular Console of Nintendo.

You cannot compare the amount of showelvare on the PS2 vs the wii....its no contest really...wii is king of showelvare.
[QUOTE="Samurai_Xavier"]Yes, I respect the old Nintendo, I hate the new one.

my thoughts exactly
I agree also.

I'm guessing 2 things 1) Your in denial 2) Your to young to remember the PS2.
Why do Nintendo need respect?! When you got money you get respect with respect you get power with power you get 3rd party titles.
Nintendo selling 30 million = sales / money, Mass ammount of sales = 3rd party, 3rd party = new games, new games = "OMG'z i wanna buy that". People saying "OMG'z i wanna buy that" = respect for Nintendo as theyre purchasing a game or console to say "OMG'z i want that" and money is going back into Nintendos pocket.
Nintendo dont need our respect they need our money like any other corperation.
As much all the fanboys don't want to admit, nintendo is No1 right now with a system that has half the graphics of both PS3 and 360; that deserves a lot of respect in my book.Shenmue_Jehuty
nintendo is beating them in CONSOLE sales. xbox has the lead by a longshot in games. also, while the xbox press conference took up an entire day, the wii and ps3 press conferences were on the same day.
before anyone calls me a xbox fanboy, i have a wii and a 360. more people have the wii because of its price, and because the wii is more of a party game system. the xbox and the ps3 are more for hardcore gaming and online competition.
i played my wii for about a 'wiik' before i went back to my xbox. now my little sister plays it.

Explain the defintion of *Hardcore*?!
Xboxs are cheaper in UK than a Wii.
Because wii fit and wii music are sooooooo respect worthy, right?
Psh, face it. Nintendo isn't the savior anymore. You will only find joy in 4 first-party* games, the other good games are/will be 3rd party*.
*= Consistent inconsistency FTW.

(8 + 6 = 14)
I hope this lesson in mathmatics helps you in your everyday life.
I grew up with nintendo i love their old stuff, a lot of my childhood was spent trying to beat wizards and warriors III and later on playing the greatness that was ocarina of time and majora's mask among many others. Onto the gamecube era i preffered it to all other consoles because of my history with nintendo but i realise now that theres no point in respecting these companies.
Nintendo gave us good games back then because that is where the money was but today the money is with shovelware so they swapped their concentration and they didnt do it for anybody but themselves to increase their wallets as it should be.
All you fanboys need to get it through you're heads loyalty to a company is idiotic as they will turn over for a few dollars. Go out and get whichever console has the best games don't base it off loyalty you didnt do it back then why do it now? This is why i dont own a wii i played all their big games and the only one i even remotely liked was super smash bros brawl and it's not worth it for that alone, gimme a few more gems and i will buy one but wii sports five no thanks.
Yes, I respect the old Nintendo, I hate the new one.

used to love nintendo back in the day but it just seems now they want to cater for the main stream alot more now and put the hardcore fans on the back shelf

I'd add Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. Extremely underrated, but still epic.
Back to topic, Nintendo is great, the Wii is also great, and, despite what some SW posters say, it has good games.

Minus Wii music/resort.
Those aren't real games.
12 titles. Not bad, but compare that to the casual crap and shovelware on the Wii.
They could do alot better, but choose not to.
Therefore, they suck.

Seems to me you have unrealistic high expectations from just one company, i mean it's seems pretty unfair to compare Nintendo; One company against some dozens. It's not like 12 is such a low number.

No, compare the games out for the PS2 in the first 20 or so months, to the games that came out for the Wii the first 20 or so months...so many Wii games didn't even get reviewed because of how much showelvare was released.

Well, that's also the dev's fault. Nintendo already showed them how to do an epic FPS/A, an action/adventure game (Zelda TP), a platformer, a RPG, Cacpcom an Action game with RE4, an adventure with Okami, etc etc.
The Wii has showed that has potential to create extraordinarious games, but are the devs the ones who prefer to do some "casual games" instead of the masterpieces they could do.
Of course, it can be argumented that it was nintendo who choose to "casualize" its console, and that devs only fallows that focus, but the Wii has proven to have a big "core" userbase (at least a lot of N-Fans of the old days) , and core games like Zelda TP, SMG etc (also third party, like NMH, RE4 and Zack & Wiki) sell also well.
Yes, Ninty choosed to focus a little more on the "casuals", but it is also true that devs are not creating the games the could do. Some of the best games this gen are on the Wii, and they are undenyable proof of what can be done.
What they have done is surely irrelevent to what they are doing now? I mean they were also once involved in Love Hotels in Japan, does that mean they deserve my respect for that to? Nope. The wii is a casual fest and it's the actions of now, not then that matter, I mean look at their E3 presentation? I have never laughed so hard in my life... :(Trip into history.

Kinda hard to not respect nintendo they pushed the industry forward. Even the "new" nintendo is still pushing the industry forward, and still coming out with great games, besides without expansion to the market gaming would die and no one wants that right? In addition, in 1 1/2 year time nintendo give us for the Wii:
-BWii Oct 07
-Wii Sport Nov 2006
- Wii Play Feb 2007
-Wii Fit May 2008
- Wario Smooth Moves Jan 2007
- Zelda (even tho it's a port) Nov 2006
- MP3 Aug 2007
- SMG Nov 2007
- Fire Emblem Nov 2007
- Super Paper Mario April 2007
- Mario Strikers July 2007
- M Party May 2007
- Mario Kart April 2008
(Sry if I'm forgetting any Nintendo Games) It seems like this year all we have is Wario, Mario Kart and Animal Crossing from Nintendo which is okay I guess (but kinda saddening), but there seems to be some interesting 3rd party titles coming out too. So my Wii is good on games for a while at least.
(Edited forget all the Wii Sport, fit, and stuff)
You know, my definition of hardcore is 'someone that enjoys and appreciates all aspects of gaming'. I compare it to a huge fan of music, someone that can tell you history of bands, likes all types, goes to concerts. you know, someone that TRULY appreciates something like that.
I know, my examples of hardcore have been blood/swearing, etc. But that is because I'm so confused why people don't see SMG, MP3, SSBB, Mario kart, and even Wii Fit as 'hardcore'. To me, the game itself cannot be 'hardcore', nor can it define or undefine someone as hardcore. Hardcore to me applies to 'the person'. Anyone that is open to play all new games without immediate prejudice is hardcore. Much more than someone saying 'Oh, that sucks because it looks gay They never played it. They havent even read a review. They see a demo or hear it from someone else and they make a factual declaration. I don't think you can be a narrow minded individual and call yourself hardcore.
Other thing I wonder is : Where was all this complaining about Nintendo losing respect when GC was out? Was it because it was failure no one cared? I bet if Wii was selling like GC, no one would say anything.
Wii has that VC, Wii Ware, and full GC backwards compatibility (something 360 and PS3 cannot claim). If that isn't catering to the hardcore in one way, I don't know what is.
Ok. All you 'Nintendo lost my respect' people, you are in charge of Nintendo! Right now.
WHAT DOES NINTENDO HAVE TO DO TO MAKE IT HARDCORE TO YOU RIGHT NOW. SPECIFICALLY?
What do you do different?
