Well lets see, I think it may start with graphics..

The winner is PC=Crysis and its add on...

Lets move one on to different type of game play//

RPG

FPS

RTS

Puzzle

Board Game

Free downloadable games that you pay for on PSN or LIve = PC they have more and and are better..

So what is left fornon PC systems?

Well it can't be online because PC wins that to with the ability to do mods without paying..

In the end I say PC is the Winner and all else comes second...

But Really we knew that anyway ..

Flame on

PC always wins, because they are a step or 2 ahead of consoles (if you have a gaming pc, of course)

Before anyone else misunderstands this post

I give multiple examples of where a PC doesn't excel. I'm not combining everything together to be an overall better package than a PC. Just certain areas.

Fighting games? No

Platformers? No

JRPGs? No

Side scrollers? No

Better control for games besides FPS? Not really.

No Halo 3, none of Nintendo's lineup.

No portability such as the PSP and DS offer.

More expensive.

Split screen? No

So basically the PC loses when it is 5 on 1.

Ever heard of strategy games? Adventure games? Puzzle games?

But nothing controls on the PC insanely well compared to consoles.

Puzzle games play insanely well on the DS, and they've always played well on consoles anyways

Ensemble was capable of creating an easy to use control system with Halo Wars, so strategy games are out

Adventure games? I personally like using a controller for these games. It's not a significant upgrade to use a mouse and keyboard for these games.

Like I said. Besides FPS games nothing on the PC controls well enough to actually stand out.

I like my PC, but you cant play awesome games like Flower and MLB the show on the PC. I have always liked my consoles better, and I guess its going to stay that way. Games that I like on PC's are mmo's, RTS,FPS, games like that.

Wow... what a load of misconception and utter blindness. Its like you took the "360 has only shooters" argument and applied it to the PC.

The PC offers things from all those genres, controls might be preference but are inherently more accurate and more responsive on PC (plus allows you to use gamepads, including the Wiimote), what so special about Nintendo games?, ever hear of a laptop or netbook?, only more expensive if you buy pre-built, Left 4 Dead on PC offers splitscreen, as well as many other games.

The PC is an overall more versatile and customizable platform than consoles and handhelds. This comes at a price though, you need to be patient and good at problem solving.

If consoles are so great, why have they given up plug-n-play functionality for more PC-oriented features?

PC's lack a solid input device. Keyboards are garbage for games. I prefer a controller with pressure sensitive buttons to allow me to have better input.

Um, no. They finally managed to make an acceptable control scheme for consoles, but KB/M is still miles and miles better.

I didn't mean action-adventure, if that's what you mean. I meant graphical adventure, like Sam and Max.

PC does offer things in all those genres, but how often are they AAA on consoles compared to PCs? Yah?

Nintendo's games are very special.

Laptop or netbook? Ok, bigger than both the DS and PSP by far, and if you want to use it in a car or on a bus then you just give up the use of the mouse? Like I said. PSP and DS are better for portable games.

I own a custom PC, but if I wanted to play games the DS is a cheaper option, the PSP is, the Wii is, and the 360 is.

PCs do not trump absolutely everything about consoles and handhelds. They have more power, and more features sure, but the convenience of a gaming console being ready to play absolutely every game that comes out for it for years and years without worry of having to upgrade is nice, and consoles offer games that the PC does not have.

It's your lucky day! Logitech offers gamepads and joysticks, the wired 360 gamepad self-installs on Windows PC's, and with a Blutooth adapter, you can use the 360 wireless pad, Dualshock 3 and Wiimote/Nunchuk.

The PC gives gamers options and doesn't force them to use any one particular input device.

1. PC does offer things in all those genres, but how often are they AAA on consoles compared to PCs? Yah?

1. AAA scores are just opinions. I personally don't agree with most of the AAA scores given out this generation to most games.
2. More opinion. I don't think Nintendo's recent offerings are special at all... quite bland and nothing like the old days in fact.
3. And can a DS or PSP surf the internet on a full screen with no zooming? You must not know anything about modern laptops... they come with something called a touchpad. They've been around for probably a good decade now.
4. You won't be playing the massive library of PC games that spans over two decades on your DS.
5. It does. It offers the most customizability and most varied selection of quality games. The "convenience" of a gaming console is being replaced with a gimped PC. Now you have to download game updates to play online, system updates in order to login and pay-to-play downloadable content that has always been free on PC is sucking people's wallets dry.

Consoles offer things PC doesn't have... but they are not "better" overall platforms. It just goes to show by the modern trend shift towards PC-oriented features being integrated into consoles just how versatile and customizable the PC actually is.

Not to mention, PC's do far more than just play games.

Please don't even compare controles for RTS, K&M owns by a mile in that departement.

Not to mention, PC's do far more than just play games.

lol couldnt have said it better, someone got owned.

[QUOTE="Cherokee_Jack"][QUOTE="grr320"]

i think the nanosuit menu on crysis works better on controller than mouse.

grr320

That has nothing much to do with the thread, does it?

yes it's a pc game/pc thread

post fails^

Yours? I agree, since you haven't explained why you're rambling about your control preferences for Crysis in a thread that isn't about Crysis.

Fighting games? No

Platformers? No

JRPGs? No

Side scrollers? No

Better control for games besides FPS? Not really.

No Halo 3, none of Nintendo's lineup.

No portability such as the PSP and DS offer.

More expensive.

Split screen? No

treedoor

This post is actually pretty funny.

Fighting games? No

True, but that's preference, when you take preference into account then I can say that consoles have no good RTS's, MMO's, Simulations, etc etc. Which really isn't something that you can tout as which system is better because the systems have different types of games.

Platformers? No

See above.

JRPGs? No

I have a feeling we'll be getting more; with The Last Remnant coming to PC, I'm sure we might see more JRPG's if it's successful.

Side scrollers? No

See Above.

Better control for games besides FPS? Not really.

What about RPG's? RTS? Most RPG's now a days are third/first person shooters, and obviously the mouse and keyboard is better in that sense.

No Halo 3, none of Nintendo's lineup.

So you're combining consoles to fight off the PC? We don't need Halo 3, as no one would play it, in fact I'm already getting sick of it on my 360 and I don't even play that much.

No portability such as the PSP and DS offer.

What does this have to do with anything? If you're comparing portability then you must compare the games/graphics/gameplay etc. Besides, ever heard of a laptop?

More expensive.

This is true but remember, you get what you pay for.

Split screen? No

We are actually having it in more games now, Left 4 Dead supports it, also for example The Watchmen game has co-op off the same computer. Besides, we're in the day and age we're consoles/gaming is so common now, that mostly all of your friends(if you have any) have their own console/PC to play on. So most gameplay is online anyway.

Also, many console games are losing split screen online multiplayer too, for example: CoD4, CoD:WaW, Gears of War, Killzone 2 etc. etc.

Not only that, but many of the consoles can't run the games with split screen online as it would most likely kill framerate, which is why Halo 3 doesn't have very good graphics to begin with.

[QUOTE="wooooode"]PC's lack a solid input device. Keyboards are garbage for games. I prefer a controller with pressure sensitive buttons to allow me to have better input.foxhound_fox

AAA scores are just opinions, but it's pretty obvious which genres are better on which platforms.

Opinion yes, but I like them, and so do millions of others. It's reason enough to own at least one console.

A touchpad? No, I'm completely oblivious to those. Are you able to play FPS games with them really well?

I won't be, but I don't really care. Like I said, I own my own custom gaming PC just so I have that option. Not going to be blind to the upsides that consoles and handhelds have, however.

So, when Crysis came out what was the cost of a PC capable of playing it on max settings? And on highest resolution too? Double...triple the cost of the 360? Not only that, but the 360, and PS3 will both have games that run at a great framerate at the maximum resolution till the end of their lifespan. No need for upgrading as I said.

Consoles are not better, agreed, but there are still some things on consoles that are not available on PCs, and until then I personally plan to own consoles alongside my PC. I'm not just going to give up console gaming just because Crysis has the best graphics.

It's funny how PC gamers feel left out of SW. So the only threads they make are these. I like when someone try to bash the PC. And see what the defenders that patrol here have to say to the TC. lol. Terrible. I would love to bash the PC for gaming, But saddly it really comes down to preference. The PC is a neutral gaming system. Everyone owns one. or two. Give a PC a gaming company name then I will consider it a true gaming system. But as for now, PC fanboys have no say whatsoever. Because everyone is a PC fanboy. They're bashing themselves.

Crysis makes the price of the PC go up since there's nothing on console that can compare in terms of graphic.

Sorry but your console won't magicaly run 1080p native with image filtering nor will it run @ 60 fps with thoses features.

Did you really just say this? lol

It's fine to game on consoles, I even own a 360, but what do you consider maximum resolution? Since most games tout 1080p, I would expect that's it, but almost no games run at 1080p, most FPS run at 640p or 720p and even then they don't always have great framerate.
