well the thing i thought may sway thing was the kinect with voice commands and they i got a ps4 camera for christmas and realised it to has voice commands which work very well and do pretty much what you want them to do, shame xbox one voice commands are the only easy way to navigate the menu's.

Xbox One Offers nothing more than a tv guide and extra costs to watch netflix.

if they intended it or not they didn't go through with it, they listened first and foremost, unlike microsoft thinking they were bigger than there customers.

also your wrong the OG Xbox was out a year or so after the ps2, playstation had already gotten a good name for itself and all the third party companies were on board, Xbox was not yet trusted as a console and this making it harder to gain any ground on the ps2. this time around they are out at exactly the same time and the problem xbox has is, it focuses to much on third party companies than actual first party companies and now with ps4 being the better console in raw power then it hasn't got the same footings as the 360 did, yes it will do ok but i don't see it being the big following like the xbox 360 was.

Cows and others here will have you believe its the price and weaker console option, but average consumer sees the same big name multiplats released on both the one and ps4 and figures there close enough. I can't tell you how many non gamers I know that were still asking as of a week ago if all that no used games, always online is true. Most people don't care about the differences in graphics between consoles with 90% the same libraries.

There is no evidence what so ever that sony integrated DRM into the PS4 period,other than a patent which sony as any other company has 100's that doesn't use and are on their hand to patent troll other companies,much like Imersion did with Sony and rumble build in.

The xbox landed 20 months after the PS2 so yeah it wasn't like both release on march 2000 and the xbox was stronger,by the time the xbox landed the war was over sony had sold like 25 million units and had all the games on lock,which is not even close to be the case now.

Halo is irrelevant even more now that Bungie is gone Halo 4 proved that,Titanfall is multiplatform who cares and it sequels and probably the own Titanfall will land on PS4 that is a given,we all know what happen to Mass Effect.

The console is selling fine, just not as well as the PS4, and with seemingly less American and International pre & post Christmas demand than Sony's machine. If you take the PS4 out of the sales equation, it is breaking records and setting sales charts on fire... I think? Hard to say really, it might even be doing better in some international markets if Sony's machine wasn't on offer there.

This is a thread asking why, so heres my guess - the biggest factor in the PS4's favor are two fold; postiive word of mouth and lower pricepoint. If the PS4 launched with a substandard online model and app environment, that may have been enough to sway the value proposition in the Xbone's favor. But Sony's solid launch execution, coupled with at least meeting the standard for online game functionality, in tandem with MS' seemingly befuddled execution on its online environment in comparison to what it offered on the 360, gives the PS4 the positive word of mouth it needs to do well in the one market its predecessor was severely overshadowed by its competition. The lower pricepoint is frosting on the proverbial cake.

What's even more damming is that MS has flooded its console with exclusives early and is burning large amounts of capital to make its ad presence well known. They are being beaten when their warmachine is at its strongest and going at full blast, while Sony is merely doing a repositioning of efforts onto a new platform while trying to support their old platform because any capital it generates is almost purely profit.

To be completely honest, I kinda see 2015 as being THE battle year between these two consoles, and the year that will set the major trend as to which console will end up becoming the market leader for AAA development, much like 2007 was the decisive year between the 360 & PS3. Major factors behind this will be A) It'll be the first year major-AAA multiplats will not be offered on current-gen and B) Many of the long-tail in-development exclusives should be hitting store shelves from both manufacturers, and each console's install base will be large enough to move major units for multiplats & exclusives.

If it is, the only reason would be that sony made more consoles than Microsoft to this point. Sales don't tell you anything other than the manufacturing capability until we get to the point that anyone who wants one is able to walk into a store and buy one can. This probably won't be the case until next year sometime.

Both will be fine in the end , anyone expecting either to fail is going to be disappointed

I dont know where this "focus on media" argument becomes valid. Just because it gives you a huge array of apps and the ability to switch between apps, television and gaming seamlessly...that some how makes it focused on media???

Since when has a wide variety of entertainment and multiple ways to interact with it been a bad thing. The X1 is whatever you want it to be, if you want more than just a games console...it can be more than just a games console. Thats a good thing for those of us who enjoy gaming, watching movies and browsing the internet because now....we can do all of those things at the same time.

It seems that the PS4 is outselling the xbox one because the one is selling at a higher price in fewer countries and has had one fewer week of sales, but again where is your sales data?

People on here are deceived by availability of both consoles (with the xbox one having slightly more availability). According to most speculation, Microsoft is kicking the crap out of Sony supply chain wise and is able to pump out a lot more Xbox Ones (I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft has built half a million more consoles at this point). The only retailer that has released information is Ebay who's numbers are skewed because people only buy a new console on ebay when they can't get one elsewhere.
