[QUOTE="el3m2tigre"]

[QUOTE="mems_1224"] doesnt matter. i bought the game, i should be able to play online against people for free going by your logicmems_1224

You obviously missed my point.

your point was that if you buy a game you should be able to play online for free. so you agree its unfair to have to pay DCUO online on ps3?? i bought the game, it should be free right? why should i have to pay?

My point couldn't have been any clearer. Why choose a service with a subscription fee when there are other FREE services (which are unarguably better), that basically offers the same thing.

[QUOTE="THE_Rob_Himself"]

so basically what your saying is

you wouldn't pay even $1 a year for a superior service because all you want is bare-bones online play?

personally, I do care, so having psn free doesnt mean the game is better on ps3

mems_1224

I don't think it would make sense for steam to charge $1 a year :| Steam is free and it's a way better service than XBL. Why pay for the inferior service?

because not everyone has a good enough pc to play games or wants one? :|

Well, they will just have to settle with the vastly inferior service then.

not an opinion, its a fact. updates are slower, too many firmware updates and no cross game chat so playing with other people isn't as smooth as it is on 360. i have both and there is a reason i never login to psn, its worthless compared to live and im not the only person that thinks that. alot of people do

Under specific circumstances, updates CAN be slow, and what's wrong with firmwares? Do you not like it when your system gets improved? The bolded part doesn't make sense to me, playing with other people defeats the purpose of "cross" game chat. Also, i think i'm not the only one that believes that XBL is not worth it...

And that analogy is totally ridiculous and inacurate.... PSN offers almost everything XBL does, for FREE. So would you rather pay full price for a Brand new Ferrari, or have a Banged up ferrari absolutely free?

updates are always slow and some games you HAVE to install. so when you get a game it might be 45 minutes to an hour before you can play it. if the system was good to begin with it wouldn't need so many firmware updates. i meant the party system in general, it makes gaming online soo much easier when you can just make a party and invite a bunch of people to it and talk to them before you even boot the game up. and when you dont wanna listen to jerks? just make a party, problem solved.

PSN doesn't even offer half the things XBL does...even on XBL Silver. I got sick of paying for Gold because I couldn't afford so I got a PS3 for certain games I care for playing online. The online play itself isn't really bad(then again I don't really play online much), but the actual service in general is a huge downgrade in comparison. Not to mention the security breach, and Sony's new terms of service is an utter joke.

The only thing PSN doesn't offer is cross game chat, and that hardly justifies the fee. The security breach was very unfortunate, but it could happen to any service. Why is the new TOS a joke? I mean no CA lawsuits but you can still sue :| Also, care to explain how the service is a downgrade?

it also doesnt have private chat while in a game, italking to just one (or many) of your friends rather than everyone in the game. XBL party system is very useful in online gaming. for this feature i'm willing to spend 16 cents / day :lol:

- Not as much Arcade games. - Barely any of the arcade games even have a trial/demo. - Background downloading is still iffy when downloading while playing games. - Slower download speeds. - Can't download while the console is turned off. - The PSN layout is just awkward, unappealing, and sometimes a chore to use. - Sony is now making a lot of things exclusive to Plus users. - No big updates that changes the layout and look of the UI and adds tons of more features unlike for XBL which there is one every year. - There's just a lot more activity and content available on XBL. When going on PSN it just feels so empty and boring.

-You mean the system that came out first has more arcade games. Nooo get out of here

-Yea give you that

-Not really. Just cant play games online

-cant comment dont know

-ill give you that

- Stat facts not opinions

-The plus stuff is mainlly price difference/early demos and betas. Thats the point of it. It doesint make it a negative.Since most of the time the early demos/betas open to everyone. Heck if you want to play that card live makes online play exclusive compared to silver users. What seems like the biggest problem.

-There were changes you can easly see from launch till now. Having one not occure often doesint count as a negative.

-Again yea has more content it was out first no shock. Also again stop stating opinions. its not fact it feels empty and boring.

In your dreams ( to da artical :P ), PS3 is the only system i would get it on

Free online? Free game with BF3 PS3? early DLC? footage already seen and is being marketed crazy by EA on PS3? win win and what? more win!

leave 360 for the 1 exclusive it has this year :P

one would have to own a 360 to get a game on a 360. Note for every one this is not the official or anything its a 3rd party user made website.

The 360 is probably the WORST system to buy BF3. Worse community, $60 for XBL, AA batteries. I refuse to play the game on consoles though, they won't do it justice.

Why wouldn't you buy it on the vastly superior PC? Wait, don't answer that. Don't want to reveal you're a diehard fanboy.

Better question would be why you would play BF3 on consoles.

I love playing BF3 on my lovely nice couch with my 65" plasma & 7 speaker surround sound blasting away. You wouldnt almost think your in a real war. Most PC gamers sit behind a desk??

LMAO ... I knew the "couch" speech was coming. Thats all console-only gamers have to work with. :lol: but even that argument becomes moot because PC can be hooked up to a plasma and surround sound setup. PC was able to do that before consoles were.

"If however, you do happen to have a pretty solid PC that can actually play the game, chances are it will likely look about the same as the 360 version, or marginally better at best" is that dude from moon or mars? I seriously can't tell.silversix_
I plan on possibly buying it once I upgrade my video card, either to the ATI 6770, or 5770, then I might be able to run it at medium settings. I already have it for the PS3 and 360. I hear that the maps are bigger and more players allowed online at once.

Well, for me personally, thats the reason i prefer my xbox ie large tv and surround sound. Its not really feasible to setup my pc in my living room, plus for the ordinary gamer it can be tricky to setup. Ie my brother would have no idea where to start.

Tricky to set up? Plug DVI to HDMI cord into PC and HDMI set up(receiver where you have your other stuff set up). Set HDMI channel to number you plugged PC into. Then start up PC. Wow, that's so hard, isn't it?

well repeat that to someone with no IT knowledge whatsover and look at their face when you are done speaking. My bet is you will get a dumb f*** look and they will ask you to set the bloody thing up been there done that. Most of my mates arent exactly smart and they all play console games. Just telling you how it is in the real world, which is the majority of the population unfortunately.

It's the same as plugging in a console... It's the exact same setup.

but the point is that it is still possible with a PC ... so the whole console couch argument is irrelevant.

as for this thread ... the 360 doesn't even have a web browser and requires a gold account to use applications that should be free. What the hell is it even good for ? It can't even run games like BF3 at its definitive resolution. Instead you have pre-configured display settings are low res.

PC version for the 64 player, pretty much best shooter on PC

Would not get it on PS3, get MAG instead and wait for Starhawk

On 360, get MW3, that's your best shooter.

Also technically PSN is better than XBL

PSN = dedicated servers

XBL = peer-to-peer + chat

Up to you whether you want to voice chat with people, or have a good connection to the game.

Google "computer to plasma no sound" and look at all the issues some are having. Not as easy for some as you might think. Anyways i got both a high end pc + xbox 360 and im not going to setup my pc in my living room because the graphics are better. Life is easier on a console, but thats just me. No doubt the games on pc look great though.

Nothing like playing far away and having a tiny fov, throwing out the immersion and quality of a fps - all for Teh couch.

Simple fix. Go into your sound settings and pick the HDMI device as your default device. Like this.

Just make the Nvidia high def audio device the default device.

Anyone who owns an HDTV and a gaming PC should know how to do this. It's really simple.
