There is nothing like the N64 or Gamecube's game design success on the Wii, sales success is something else entirely, unless you really do think COD is amazing just for selling so well. You can't have it both ways. Consumers do not actively seek to buy the weakest hardware on the market either.
The SNES had Link to the Past, considered by many the best Zelda game ever, so yeah, power doesn't matter.
