No not really, I had a Wii 2 years ago and I'm glad I got rid of it. Don't get me wrong Wii had some good games and I mean some to it's full meaning, theres maybe a dozen games worth getting and so far theres been bigger gaps between good wii games coming out.

If Wii 2 can punch out some power, drop the motion crap cause honestly, RPGs and most genres don't do to well and feel un natural with motion controls, have a decent online community, I will love Nintendo forever.

Ballroompirate

There is a difference between good games and games that are not appealing to you. You said that Wii doesn't have good games and now you do? Drop the motion control and stick to the same dated gamepad? Uh, no thanks. Motion controls will still go.

The sad thing is pretty much 9/10 Wii games aren't appealing i'm not talking about me who thinks it, it's pretty much a proven fact that the majority of wii games don't do to well compared to 360,PC and PS3 games and people buy systems for guess what the games, that's why you see a higher trade/re sell rate for Wii's cause no one keeps them.

Nintendo for the Wii 2 needs to get off their *** and get their 3rd and 1st party support back.

* Well, that is YOUR problem if they don't appeal to you. Where is your stat on the people who agree? * Don't do well in terms of what? * The Wii has been out for almost 5 years, there is NO excuse to complain about the games. Because if you RESEARCH, it has a lot of good ones.

Built in projector is BS, but who knows what they ment - its parts of information that were interpreted many times and maybe some parts lost somwhere in the process.

I'll have to agree with the casual market not having a clue about HD. I know plenty of people with HDTV's that don't know the first thing about them. They'll have their devices all hooked up with standard 3 prong RCA style composite cables and since it look better than their old SDTV that is fine to them. Every single person I know that owns a Wii doesn't own a PS3 or XBOX360 and not one of them has their Wii hooked up with a component cable (they don't even know what 480p is). Even worse is out of all my hardcore gamer friends guess what, I'm the only one with a Wii.

It is hard to say what the casual market will do when it comes to a next gen Wii, my guess is they'll ignore it if it is basically the same idea as the Wii, but with better graphics (that option already exists and its a PS3 with a Move). If they're isn't anything revolutionary about the new system and it is behind whatever the competition releases in graphics it may well be shunned by both the casuals and the hardcore gamers. Nintendo won this gen for sure in sales, but they may have dug themselves into a hole for the long term.

There is no denying that the Wii for now is all but dead for development towards real gamers. Take a look at the sales numbers for most of the Wii games that have gotten good reviews over the last2-3 years and you'll get what I'm saying. They are few and far between and when they do come out noone buys them because the gamers mostly ignore the system and the causal will never hear about it or just don't care.

Quad core? That's pretty good... but slightly far fetched. The thing that interests me is the built in projector. Is this going to be the new 'gimmick' that will sell their systems now?

* It's not hard to see what platform the majority of people play/enjoy, Wii is dead last. Why do you think you can get a used Wii for $120? yet 360 and PS3 are still well over $200.

* Again if you compare the quality of Wii,PC,PS3 and 360 games, all of them except the Wii sell better.

* I did do research, or I must have not looked through 37 pages of Wii games on gamestop.com.

It's nothing new that Nintendo needs to rethink how they do video games, they are getting smoked by Sony and Microsoft in the 3rd and 1st party games. They need to reach out to the developers and show them that the Wii 2 is a system that they can make and profit from software/games.

You take a look at what made the Snes and N64 successful and that was the games.

See, I would agree with quite a lot of what you said, but to claim that Nintendo needs to rethink how it does games is laughable. To claim that it's being smoked by Sony and Microsoft ( ) in the first party department is even more so, and makes your statement lose all credibility. Tell me, how many games this generation even come close to stuff like the Mario Galaxy games? No one does games like Nintendo does, and in the first party department, they remain untouched.

Seriosly dude! Tell me one quality game that doesn't touch any of the SMG games besides GTAIV. The SMG series has proven that if a dev tries they can producevery high qualitiy games on the system. Most 3rd party developers/publishers don't view it this. They think they can do half the work on a Wii game there producing and get rewarded withloads of money and sales which usually makes them rely on party type games. fitness games, ports and shovelware for the easy money and not a game that can appeal to all groups involved easily.Thisis the typical Wii development patternsome games like the SMG series, DKC Returns and morebroke and they got bought by some of the hardcore and some of the casuals.

well I'd hope they have a quad anything less is a total embarrassment. quads are now dirt cheap and 8 core cpus are just around the corner. Duals are now reserved for nothing but budget systems. More importantly will they put in a few gigs of ram, anything less than 2gb is a joke.

You do realize that a system with less than 1gig of ram could perform better than a PC running a game in Windows with 2 gigs of ram.

LOL, I only have a web browser up and My system is using 1.7 gigs of RAM.

Do you know the fact that there is a giant optimization difference betwen the games on consoles, and games on the PC?

[QUOTE="LastRambo341"] As in that they were the latest Nintendo consoles to be last place. Shows that power doesn't matter, as evident from the Ps3 sales.LastRambo341

Power matter to devs, power matters to gamers that want new experiences, sales matter to publishers.

Do you think OoT time could be done on the SNES, don't you think it was right for Nintendo to push for technology and make such revolutionary games happen?

Or don't you think making such a great game was a good idea, and should have waited another 5 years for the level of hardware required to become redundant? Imagine where we would be now

There is nothing like the N64 or Gamecube's game design success on the Wii, sales success is something else entirely, unless you really do think COD is amazing just for selling so well. You can't have it both ways. Consumers do not actively seek to buy the weakest hardware on the market either.

Real gamers seek which console has the most appealing games REGARDLESS of the power. Regular consumers seek which console is affordable and has innovation

Exactly, appealing games regardless of POWER, the N64 and GC were packed with them and were only possible with their POWER. What you say has everything to do with marketing and NOTHING to do with making powerful hardware, as proven by the NES and SNES. The Gamecube was the cheapest last gen too and that didn't help either did it.

If the Wii 2 really is a powerful beast, with great games that exploit this power, I suppose you will be the first person to bash it then? I really don't think you know what you are talking about so we're pretty much done here.

Go Nintendo, welcome back to the good old days

The SNES had Link to the Past, considered by many the best Zelda game ever, so yeah, power doesn't matter.

You're wrong there, OoT is considered the best game ever made by many people and was a benchmark for the industry.

did I say that? the wii is a great console, with tons of outstanding exclusives but being underpowered was a mistake, plain and simple.

EDIT: the wii is actually the second best console if you ask me.

using sales to claim superiority is asinine. it makes you seem like you have no opinion, and just use other's to make claims of superiority.

How legit is this source? I know Nintendo will have to move forward soon, but using a Quad-Core? PC games these days barely use Duo-Core.

FireEmblem_Man
mm... they are definitely starting to. keep in mind the 360 has a triple core and the ps3 also has multiple cores.

A new Nintendo console will be out in 3 years and by that time quad cores will be "last generation" for console standards. But yeah, this is all speculation, nothing is leaked.

Ughh. The Wii and it's gimmick has short legs, so here's Nintendo rushing out another system with probably another half baked gimmick. That will give Nintendo another 2-3 years of shelf life before having to rush out another one

Sales does not equal quality but sales equal the WINNER

you don't win anything, nintendo does.

EDIT: the point is we shouldn't be discussing sales at all because it has no impact on us.

Built-in projector

That is a terrible idea. The Wii 2 would be too expensive unless the projector is complete rubbish. A desktop level quad-core would further increase costs! I'm going to label this rumour as BS for now...

quadcores are relatively cheap on the consumer level never mind at a manufacturer's cost. Im just hoping its not an ARM.

You're joking right? Video games exist to make money. How they sell directly correlates to the content of the games we get :|

Probably some in-order garbage CPU. I mean the 360 has a tri-core but it's rubbish...

We won't be seeing anything comparable to an i5 or even a Phenom II in the next gen consoles. I'm sure of that.

Ughh. The Wii and it's gimmick has short legs, so here's Nintendo rushing out another system with probably another half baked gimmick. That will give Nintendo another 2-3 years of shelf life before having to rush out another one :roll:BodyElite

Rushing? Hey now, the Wii isnt the one with the hightest fail rate:roll:

Plus this is just a rumor, besides, even if this rumor is true, we probably wont see this "Wii 2" for another 1 and a half to 2 years from now.

I dont know about everyone else, but its the gimicks of game consoles that I love the most, with the Wii, its the motion controls.

Wii's, GC's & the original xbox's CPU is out of order...essentially it just makes each clock cycle more efficient for certain types of operations. For an in-order CPU its not that bad either. You can just have a seperate vector unit or FPU for such calculations that the CPU would otherwise stall on before the first instruction was proccessed. The 360 has a PPE that helps it out. In-order would be more problematic with a single thread CPU, but the 360 has 3 cores & i think they are multithreaded so as long as the game supports multiple threads it works out in the end. Im not 100% sure what i've stated here is correct 100%, but im sure its close enough :P I'm sure next gen's CPU's wont be near an i5 2500, but maybe close to something like a modified i3/ low end i5 in terms of performance. doesn't need to be to strong since CPU's aren't much of a bottleneck anymore.

A quad core in a nintendo console....I'm shocked

DreamCryotank

I know, it sounds so wrong.

Not really, Wii is the odd one out to be honest. SNES, N64, GC were all pretty powerful compared to the competition.

So there should be more games like COD or Wii Fit and less games like Mirrors Edge or Heavy Rain for instance.... No, not unless you work for a publisher. Financial success alone doesn't make you credible.

we don't have more games like that because we don't buy them! i wish we lived in a world where creativity was enough to make a business thrive but we don't, and the only thing we can do is buy what we like and try to get others to buy these great games but if we don't publishers are only gonna make what sells, and how could you blame them?

Wasnt the N64 stronger than the PS1, and wasnt the Gamecube stronger than the PS2? :? Why is it hard to believe?

i didnt say they werent (even though i thought ps1 demolished the n64 in graphics but whatever) Im just saying the visuals of those 3 devices are similar.

An Nintendo console specs have never been leaked before Nintendo has announced, hell we still don't even know the full specs of Nintendo's Wii so I don't believe this at all.
