Wii games are targeted towards children

I don't think Wii is targeted particularly at kids....my 12 yr old brother just gave up on the Wii that I bought him and went back to PS2 rofl.  In his opinion the controls were something that he hated, not that it wasn't hard just it was repetitive to the point it was frustrating.  shaking his whole arm or swaying with hand ect....basically he just got sick of the controls.  btw, he isn't a Wii sports fan so maybe that's why he ended up not liking the Wii.

The Wii is targeting non-gamers, period.  Most (and I stress most) gamers want a sense of accomplishment, non-gamers/casuals what instant gratification.  Seems to me Wii is aiming to give them what they want.  Also who could argue with Nintendos strategy....when trying to go head to head with PS/Xbox they lost.  It seems their new approach is working....for now at least.  What it's not doing is giving great games like I've seen for the X360 and soon to be great games for the PS3.

Most video games are marketed around the demand of children or teenagers with very low intellectual standards.  Don't agree?  Why is so much violence and sexual content excluded from video games when the context and setting of the game justifies a paticular degree of violence?  Why are the marketing icons of Nintendo all "family-friendly" characters that lack depth, emotion, and meaning?  You seriously aren't trying to argue for the "Adult" premises contained in a game like Mario -- which dialouge is usually limited to "It'sa Me.  Mario," or a shallow, consequence-free, world like Zelda -- are marketed around the demands of adults?  I will agree with you that Nintendo, by FAR, is the company that is most guilty about creating worthless content for children -- Pokemon, Mario Bros, Zelda. 

The PS3 is not much better off either, but at least Sony does not exploit a handful of worthless first-party marketing icons that artifically inflate the quality of games.

Have you noticed that with a lot of interviews about the Wii, developers are saying "We want to make the game easy to play, with this new controller" Read between the lines, what they are saying is that they know only kids buy the Wii, so they need to make games aimed towards kids.

They took the RPG element out of Paper Mario to be innovative, when was the last time Sony was innovative?  Also you still level up, so it is still an RPG.  Last time I checked, Spuper Paper Mario scored better then all EXCLUSIVES on the PS3.Grodus5

Saying Paper Mario is better than any PS3 exclusive is like saying God of War 2 was a better PS3 exclusive than anything the Wii has released.  Zelda, Paper Mario, and Mario Party were all GameCube titles that were just ported to the Wii.  In essence the only difference from the GameCube version and Wii version is the use of the new controller.

At least Nintendo knows what they are about and have been consistent, if you like their products then you get what you expect and 9/10 you'll like it. That is like saying disney is holding back development of the movie industry with their family focus, but in reality its the capitlalist model at play, what makes more money gets more attention.

Your right, most games are not targeted toward a certain level of maturity, but that has nothing to do with particular content providers as they have the right to publish whatever they want. If you want to target someone, put content providers who do a poor job of creating and marketing more mature content. By mature I certainly do not mean GTA, maybe IV will change that.

PS3 has the dumbest controller ever. 4 buttons on the top? whats the learning curve for that? I guess u have to spend all your time learning the controls for a Ps3, doesnt leave much time for a social life. But i guess that never came up as a conflict for Playstation owners.beinss

And the Wii controller is easy to use. You are just so used to a normal gamepad that anything remotely different will present a steep learning curve.

That could be partially because its violence seems deliberately designed to be grotesque, and partly because some people don't like this game appearing on a console which is noticeably targeted towards children.

putting first party games aside,(which are not really games but minigames(warioware, wii sports, wii play)) which leaves the majority of games, they will not have that level of simplicity with the wii controller that only nintendo themselves can achieve(only in minigames so far). just take a conventional rpg game for example. it would be much harder to develop it on wii than on 360 and ps3 if you wanted to use motion sensing, which is the only point of having a wii, and on top of that, you woudlnt' be able to have as high a level of graphics and content as the other two consoles can have.

In regards to the difficulty of Wii games, well I only have Wii Sports, and difficulty in that game is fixed to the skill of the player. But I do know that there are hard games on the DS (why do all the cows ignore the DS? Maybe because they're already owned in that area?).
