Without a doubt in my mind. The only thing they would need to announce and i'm more sold is a new Smash game.

This is just one of the games that would confirm a purchase. And the next console is guaranteed to have more Mario and Zelda as well. :P
Yes. 3rd parties wont have any excuse not to support Nintendo's next console after the success with the Wii.

Yup. Come to think of it, I would also buy the next console to see how Ninty is going improve on SMG.
Considering that they continue in the same direction the company is in?
I would not. I haven't enjoyed a wii game since HOTD overkill. All the "good" games like Red Steel 2, No more Hero's, etc do not appeal to me. The games seem like poor man versions of console games on the HD twins.
OwnallConsoles
What HD console games are like Red Steel 2 and No More Hero's?
None!
Sorry, you lost credibility in the first paragraph.
I would buy a Nintendo console JUST for that generation"s console Zelda title. meetroid8
My thoughts exactly.
Given that the Wii is pretty much the only reason I play videogames anymore, hell yes. Unless the industry in general starts to get a freaking clue and make games instead of bad movies. The track record so far is less than promising. The funniest thing is that they chose to ignore the largest install base and lowest dev costs (in short, the smartest business decision) because it somehow interfered with their "vision". If the devs are such geniuses, they could make absolutely brilliant software with the Wii, and have it sell decently. Yet they choose not to, and actively try to kill any potential audience they might have on the system with a constant stream of half-hearted second fiddle games. On the rare occasion Wii is given HD-style attention is when the game project would've been disastrously expensive on the HD consoles, aka Monster Hunter Tri. Which is more like a Gamecube game than a Wii one.
At least some people like Ubisoft Paris get it. I so wish Stardock made Wii games : /
As long as Nintendo stuff is on there, yeah. If it weren't for first-party games...I would probably take a wait-and-see approach with the next console. Like, for a couple years.
Personally no, I think i'm done with Nintendo now, after owning all their consoles except for the Nes and Virtual Boy, I think me and them have gone in different directions with games.
I just havn't enjoyed the GC, DS and Wii that much. There are a few games i've enjoyed, but I 'think' just done with em now.
I may check out the 3DS, see what thats about, not sure if i'll buy it, considerering I prefer the old gameboy games and advance games (mostly Mario and Game and Watch) to the DSs.
I don't think this is a bad thing though, I think it says volumes about how far this industry has come now that, games are no longer black and white, good or bad. There is so much middle ground that there is tastes and something for everyone.
Nintendo and I will part on a happy note. The SNES, N64 and Gameboy have been the best consoles a kid could grow up with. :)
Nintendo has never changed....some of the gamers which play the Nintendo have, but not the companyHarlockJC
I have to disagree, after the N64 they did change the direction of their games, I think mainly because they thought the PS was so casual.
Also the Wii has taken a major direction change, I don't blame them, it's been succsesful, but they had to because they can't compete directly with Playstation and Xbox [brands] as there isn't as much profit in that battle among other things.
Games on the gamecube and onwards just havn't kept me glued to the box, like the N64 and SNES and I was a massive sheep going into the Gamecube gen as well. I spent a long time telling myself to wait (be patient with the Gamecubes games and upcoming games), but in the end had to get an Xbox as well.
Nintendo have changed and all the credit to them for being able to adapt to a changing industry and always find their place.
I think Playstation and Xbox would have more trouble adapting then Nintendo tbh.
Yes of course although not at launch. Maybe 3 years later when the system has a good library to support the buy.
I find it funny that so many think that they forget about the Power Pad, Super Shooter, Virtual Boy, Printer on the GB, E-reader, and Rumble are but a few things Nintendo has done outside normal means of gameplay and to target the casual gamer. I think the Gamecube is the one gen where Nintendo lost their roots. The Wii is just returning to what made the NES a success.

im skipping all nintendo systems next gen, i sold my wii and thats the first time i ever sold any of my stsems. so i gotta teach nintendo a lesson and just skip their systems.
The Wii has been succesful for Nintendo, but most Wii gamers dont care about third party games. I remember creating a thread before that asked Wii owners if they were upset over missing out on franchises like Fallout, Mass Effect etc, and they were like "we don't care about those games, we only care about Mario and Zelda". That thread even got locked by a pro-Nintendo moderator who couldn't accept the ownage.PandaBear86
I don't mind buying third party games if they are stuff I like. Thing is, I don't terribly like the cinematic stuff most third parties make nowadays (more of an arcade gamer myself), and their Wii support is a joke with all the "market tests" and whatnot. Had Darksiders made it to the Wii, it'd probably be on my shelf. As it is, I don't want to buy a console for one or two interesting, but not must-have games.
The third parties' dismissive and at times outright condescending attitude towards the console and it's users is also infuriating. How the hell do they know we don't want good third party games when they never give us any? They just expect any random crap published on the Wii to sell, and never bother to advertise potentially good games properly. Then they cry that they can't sell on the Wii, even when certain third party titles are breaking a million. They seem totally oblivious that Nintendo actually tries to understand it's customers, tries to make quality games for them, and advertises the hell out of key products. You don't sell Nintendo numbers without doing things like Nintendo -_-'
