Despite the disappointing "drought", i'm still planning on getting the next Nintendo. Heck i'm planning to get all the consoles again as well as a major pc upgrade next gen.

"I find it funny that so many think that they forget about the Power Pad, Super Shooter, Virtual Boy, Printer on the GB, E-reader, and Rumble are but a few things Nintendo has done outside normal means of gameplay and to target the casual gamer. I think the Gamecube is the one gen where Nintendo lost their roots. The Wii is just returning to what made the NES a success"
I don't think those things were anything to do with casuals, the one thing Nintendo does that others don't is reach out for new interactive experiences in video games, that doesn't have to mean casual.
I don't see why those things were to target casuals. Nintendo never relied on them and they used it to augment their gameplay.
Nintendo have changed their gameplay direction, by making more pick up and play and sometimes easier.

All those examples he gave were products nintendo released to entice the mainstream market. It's not really debatable.

But still no where near on the scale of the Wii. Point was Nintendo never shifted focus to them, Rumble was made standard though and i still don't see what that one has to do with casual.
The Wii is a major shift in focus to casual and that is not really debatable either.
