Correction: Wii = Ps1

PS1 - had crappy graphics compared to competitors

Wii - has (really) crappy graphics compared to competitors

PS1 - Had tons of (crap) games and only a select few are remembered as classics (MGS, RE...)

Wii - Has tons of (crap) games and only a select few will be remembered as classics (SMG, SSBB)

PS1 - Took atvantage of competitor's arrogance and attracted third parties.

Wii - Took atvantage of competitor's arrogance and attracted third parties.

PS1 -supercasual console that outsold it's competitiors.

Wii - supercasual console that is outselling it's competitors.

You pretty much only look at all the negative aspects. I mean I could say the same about any other console.

Wii 1st this generation, and I don't think Nintendo will loose their position anytime soon. Sales will only rise more and more.

Sales, sales, sales !! How many times have you used this argument to say that the Wii is better? Do you have any stocks or money invested on Nintendo?

Its dominating sales wise over every other console. It has the most exclusive titles. More innovative then any other console.

As for bad online service. Xbox had superior online service compared to the PS2. And look how that turned out.

I think we will slowly start seeing more support from developers this year.

Wii-Fit and Super Mash Bros Brawl will move more systems then any other software combined.

PS3 and 360 are just battling for the 2nd place. Kinda sad

Nintendo the king is back again!

Tuvola

that's right pikachu... nintendo is king and is gonna make you lots of pokemon games... watch as you use your wiimote to pick which pokemon you want... sure the graphics aren't any better than pokemon stadium on the n64... but at least the minigames are gonna be awesome this time around with the wiimote and everything. Mini games mini games mini games mini games, it might only have cost you 150 dollars, but then again I can get on newgrounds for free.

2-0 !! And the score goes up!!

Yes you have fun with Gears of Chainsaws and GTA nonsense like games on the expensive PS3 and 360.

Pokemon at least has gameplay. What does the software on the 360 and PS3 offer? Shooters shooters blood, violence etc. Only kids care about these kind of games.

You're just a kid, you don't know anything about Nintendo. Come back when you have more experience.

So are you a joke theme poster or are you just that stupid?

you know whats the number 1 killer of console systems? LACK of sales

if people like nintendo games, and nintendo's system is successful, of course it will matter. success guarantees that the games they enjoy will have sequels.

im so tired of saying this: sales = fact. games = opinions

I would not mind playing PokeMon Snap on the Wii. Yeah im "23" and i think it would be quite entertaining! I play games for enjoyment and that game was fun. You know if it was on the PS3 it would be called "POKEMON SHOOT" where you walk about with a greanade launcher and shout "Its coming right for us"...

Actually please bring out both version please as the cuteness does get annoying just like how Manhunt gets boring after 2 minutes of being a load crap.

The Wii is a LOT like the PS2.

The only difference is that obviously the Wii is MORE popular atm, but the PS2 had the advantage of having a bigger brand name behind it. The reason the PS2 was such a success was that the PS1 gave the brand a good reputation. Because the GC was not such a success, the Wii doesnt have that, whatever people can remember of Nintendo. How many times do casuals and non-gamers walk into a store and ask for a Playstation, yet they are referring to any console?

Also, its worth taking into consideration the fact that developers didnt take the Wii seriously until about 6-8 months in. It took them by surprise. The PS2 was supported from the start because of the success of the PS1.

There is still a great deal of shovelware for the PS2. Or any system. Not just the Wii.

The Wii is a family console not a gamers console.

Coyo7e

true. but in the same sense, any console can be whatever you want to make it.

you can buy a ps3 with singstar, GH3, and rock band. that looks like a family console to me

True.

GH3 and rock band and the like can be played by family sure.

I am talking about the target demographic for the systems. Ps3 and 360 go for the 20 something 30 something male audience with the majority of their games. I do not think the Wii targets that audience. They throw them a few scraps every now and then, just like the others throw the family a few scraps.

Nintendo is not a gamers developer.

They play fan service to their die hard fans but, the online set up alone tells you what they think about the 20 and 30 something crowd that still plays games.

Im 21, im part of the 20-30 something demographic. But the 20-30 demographic sucks. Too many of them care about image and fancy graphics. They are the kind of people who buy HDTV's to brag about them, or refuse to buy Viva Pinata because its colourful and believe they will lose their penis if they buy it. At least two of my friends criticised it AND Animal Crossing, totally dismissed it without even playing it. The attitude of certain so-called "hardcore gamers" in their 20's and 30's needs to change. Sadly, image has become too important in our society.

Ive been playing games since I was about 4-5. But my attitude is always, if it is fun and lasts you a long time, its good.

I also couldnt care less about online games either. I would rather play with friends in the same room. People are scared off by the prospect of online gaiming, I think. Most people still value playing with friends and a sold Single Player experinece, and the Wii caters to that.

We are not just seeing a change of demographic for the Wii. The 360 asnd PS3 are becoming more and more like PC's. The Wii is in a sense as well, but not nearly to the extent that the other two consoles are.

It isn't really the PS2 game-wise. Third party support for the Wii is mediocre at best.

[QUOTE="Cute_Red_Panda"]lol. I'm sorry but I can't take you serious with Pikachu and Yu-gi-oh avatar and sig.biribis

Whats wrong with it?

mmh?

The thing is that because of your avatar it seems you're a die-hard nintendo fanboy and your comments could be seriously biased.

...

Wow. So everybody with a Nintendo character in their sig/avatar is now a Sheep? Pathetic. I, for example, have Fox in my sig, a character from the Nintendo series Star Fox, but I'm not some blind Sheep that thinks that my console is the greatest ever (I use my PC for gaming, too).

And that's not Yu-Gi-Oh in his sig... It's the Pokemon Trainer from Brawl. :|

LOL the wii has the worst gaming lineup right now and you want to compare it to a console who had more great exclusive titles then any ohter console in the history of consoles. The wii is equal to the ps2 in sales so far but definately not gamewise.

We just got another AAA Exclusive! 4 AAAe for Wii and 3 AAAe for the 360. PS3 = zero AAA exclusive.

TLHBO, TCHBO!

Check the review for yourself. http://www.gamespot.com/wii/action/supersmashbros/index.html?tag=result;title;0

Actually the 360 has 4 AAAE.. So they're tied.

AND the 360 version of GeoW won GOTY in 2006 (Sheep seem to have short term memory).

And the 360 takes a huge wet dump on the wii in terms of AA/AAA games... So you loose that argument..

And if the wii is the "PS2" of this gen, then why are none of the popular 3rd party games being released on it...

Assasin's Creed?

COD4?

DMC4?

Turok?

GTA VI?

Oblivion?

GRAW?

EA Big series?

Soul Calibur 4?

Virtual Fighter 5?

Fallout 3?

Unreal Tournament 3?

Infact if you look at the current and future software of the wii/360/PS3... The wii is getting the least amount of 3rd party games of the 3. Hell they didn't even release Rock Band on the wii (yet..).

Enjoy your Mariowii... The rest of us will be playing everything else in the gaming world.

I still think the Wii is crap compared to the xbox360 and PS3. It's a funny little console with cosy little games, but I don't take most of them very serious. Look at the Wii games in the top 20 this week 1. Wii Sports 2. Wii Play 4. Super Mario Galaxy 5. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock 8. Link's Crossbow Training 16. Mario And Sonic At The Olympics Besides Mario and Guitar Hero (those are gems, although guitar hero is better on the other consoles), the other games are pure poop. And the masses of casuals that infested the sales figures, primarily buy this shovelware crap. Which means even more shovelware crap in the future on Wii. The Wii has some great games but there are too few and there's too much time in between releases of great games. If I want to play a great game (I love good story driven games) I pickup my xbox360 or ps3 controller. When I have friends over we play stupid Wii games for fun. In my opinion Wii isn't next gen gaming.

Absolutely, the Wiimote doesn't add that much most of the time. And I know graphics aren't everything but come on.. Luckily some games have great art direction that can save it a bit. And since I'm left handed Mario Galaxy can be very frustrating for me. I can't handle the Wiimote in my right hand, I have to use my left hand for that. But i also can't really control the thumb stick with my right hand, because I'm used to do that with my left hand. This kinda sucks.

I disagree... The wii-mote system can be a great asset if the wii's hardware was on par with the 360/PS3. The concept is good however the devs seem hell bent on just releasing party games ect.. with it. There's nothing too compelling on the wii right now and nothing I see in the future (which is why I sold mine). Perhaps they'll upgrade the system in the future or release a wii2.
