With MH4 and Bayonetta 2 to be released next year its looking bright. Ive purchased MH 3, W101, BAtman A.C, AC3, Tekken TAg 2, MArio BROS, Super MEtroid, Trine 2 this year and couple more EShop games it has been a slow year.
I'll have more fun with this 3D mario than any game on ps4 or xbone. Ps4 and xbone = yay now i can see more explosions on the screen in higher rez with a better framerate than I could playing on 360 or ps3.
P.S. I was super WOWed by the giant leap from HD graphics to HD graphics. The American consumer has been disgraced.
Not a big fan of 3D Mario games, but this one looks like an absolute blast. I'll definitely have to pick it up whenever Nintendo decides to make the Wii U a worthwhile purchase for me.

How many PC, 360, PS3 titles got AAAE and even iOS and Andriod games in a Years time? Another Indie PS4/Vita game got a 9 too.
Nintendo doing Nintendo, colorful cartoon games and much lower standards as compared to PC gaming and visuals. Same old formula but tweaked up and it looks wonderful to big kids and kids. Possibly the only must have Wii U game for while to come.

Over that one year, it built a steady arsenal of AAE games, after launching with two of them too :)
This is more than either the PS4 or Xbox One managed.
Meh. I'm thinking about trading the WiiU in on an Xbone. You dont even have a Wii/u yet, so how you trying to sell it to others when you wont buy it. :P

A part of why Nintendo games are so good is that they HAVE to be.
Yeah, Nintendo can get by with the occasional New Super Mario Bros 2 but their longevity as a company, and ability to sell systems depends strongly on excellence.

In order for a game to get a 10 on GS it has to pretty much shock the reviewer. Super Mario 3D World did not do that, but according to the reviewer this game is still amazing.I have seen nothing listed in the bad section of a review before on GS.
I feel like this is just a continued testament to what Nintendo can do. They can manage some of the highest reviewed/regarded games of a generation PURELY on gameplay and level design. There's no cinematic flourish or story to help it along. This is pure gaming quality. That's what I love about them so much.

Seems like the standard Mario formula to me though.
Fun is so overused. Good controls is so overused. Why can't Nintendo change that formula of fun and good controls?

console generations are most definitely defined by power (i.e. the 8,16, 32/64 bit eras).

Console generations are also defined by time frame. This is the next generation of Nintendo hardware.
I am using that analogy because the word 'generation' comes from that analogy: the next generation iPad means the new iPad, as in the latest one that has been released. Similarly, the next generation consoles refer to the newest consoles released, that includes Wii U. Sure, it's hilariously outperformed in terms of power, but it's still a part of this generation.
so, let me throw a hypothetical out there. let's just say nintendo scraps the wii-u and decides they want to compete with the ps4 and xbox one horsepower-wise. they go ahead and release a comparably powerful console sometime in the next year or two, would that be considered the next gen after the ps4 and one? of course it wouldn't, that's just silly.
Depends on when they would release it. Would they release it in 2014? It'd be the next generation of Nintendo hardware competing in this generation of consoles.
Would they release it in 2016-17? It's be in the next generation by the traditional five year cycle all consoles get.

Console generations have happened to represent a power leap. That doesn't mean that that is how they are defined. The Wii is similar to the Xbox in power, yet it would be downright ridiculous to include it in that generation considering that the Wii came out in 2006 and the Xbox came out in 2001.
Also, the word generation itself implies a leap forward in time. Your definition completely ignores the definition of the actual word. No use of the word generation should be taken seriously if it doesn't include a progression of time.
