Dont get me wrong, I absolutley LOVE to bash the WII. Its like ripping on the rich, obnoxious kid at school - They both deserve it.
How we laughed at the Shovelware, the last-gen graphics, the dreadfull E3 presentations and the utter betrayal of the pathetically loyal hardcore Nintendo fans, but it feels like nowadys even a CONDUIT screenshot thread can barley raise a smile on my face. System Wars needs some new ammuntion in the war against Nintendo and its abomination of a console. ;)
Then - THIS article caught my attention. Its not quite enough to bring back the halcyon days of 2007 but it does make some fascinating points.
"Cowen & Company's Doug Creutz then told Gamasutra that, 'Nintendo is the dominant publisher on the Wii with over one-third of software market share
on its platform. Guitar Hero and Rock Band account for one-sixth of sales. So the addressable market for third-party Wii titles is only about half of what the installed base would imply. The situation on the 360/PS3 is less daunting, with less than a quarter of software dollar share going to first-party publishers and Guitar Hero/Rock Band.' The short version? 'You have more control over your fate on the 360/PS3 if you can come up with a high-quality game. Whereas on the Wii, it's a bit of a crapshoot for what works and what doesn't.'"
Considering that the combined market for 360/ps3 multiplats is close to 50 million, its no wonder that no one wants to make 3rd party software for the Wii.
So there you go Wii fans - The big 3rd party devs arent going to magically switch to making decent games just because Wii is wining the sales race. Oh you'll no doubt get the occasional tasty bone tossed by the big N, but the reality you face is endless shovelware and mini-game collections from the rest of the industry for EVER and EVER, untill you collapse into a heap of bitter tears and frustration, and curse the gods for the day they made you a Nintendo fanboy.
