I'm really really interested in Wii Fit. I've been getting out of shape myself lately, but I hate Gyms. I used to work out all the time when I lived in an apartment with a 24 hour gym built in, that I can do, but going somewhere... durring daylight hours... not gonna happen.
I also like how low impact a lot of these exercises look. I've had a bad knee since my old hurdling days which makes me resist exercises like jogging now.
Miyamoto could be making us another masterpiece if he wasn't working on Wii Fit, So... yeah i don't like, i don't like it one bit.Oscar-Wilde
Wii Fit is his greatest work to date. A work of genius.
Wiifit will be worshipped by alot of overweight people... I can allready see it being praised in Shows like Opera and Dr Phill. I have a strong feeling sales will exceed over a million every month when that thing is released.
Stop hating on the non-gamers... Nintendo is doing a great thing. Wii-Fit will help those people to get a better and healthier life. In a Fun way that is.

No Nintendo is not doing a great thing. They are destroy decent gaming as we know it. Do you want to see Wii-Fit outselling SSBB? I know I don't, I hate it even in my store (Gamestop) where I see these people buying such mediocre games. Its just telling developers that they like that stuff. Which is a prime example of why Nintendo is killing hardcore gaming, by introducing Wii Fit.

Wii Fit looks like just another crappy Nintendo money making scheme that just scream gimmick. But it's just plain naive to think something like Wii Fit (or the Wii) will kill "decent gaming".
Running a strenuous mile only burns 150-300 calories. One pound of fat on the body is 3,500 calories.
Wii-Fit wil barely burn anything to amount to substantial fat loss on the average fat man or woman. Wii-Fit may be a diversion, or an alternative gaming medium, but it's not a good way to lose weight. Does it do anything to educate these overweight people about proper nutrition or exercise? These are vital components as well. This game will prey on the uninformed public, not offering them true meaningful results. Shame on Nintendo for expoliting these poor people, all for a profit.

"if the wii-mote strap breaks and your tv is damaged, well, tough s---. there's probably a deal on new tv's some where."
"wii fit is an interactive video game designed to get you to move, so don't just sit your fat ass on the couch and move your wrist you lazy bastard!"

wii fit is to exercising and weight lose as cooking mama is to culinary arts: no good.
I'm definitely getting it as a complement to my work out at the gym. Zhengi
I was about to say... why are people assuming that those who will buy Wiifit don't already excercise?
Anyway, I think this game is going to a massive hit.
[QUOTE="mmirza23"]i'm sorry but it's called a gym, that's where you should be getting your exercising and conditioning, OUTDOORS as well, not on a gaming console, I didnt buy a gaming console to get in shape.TheForgotten0neWell you didn't, but think about it! People do buy videos with how to get in shape, why not Wii-Fit, and i can also se Opera telling how good it is. I'm now sheep, i'm a cow and i also belive the sales for Wii will go sky high! Think, the parents see this great thing for them and buys the console for the family!
Becuase aerobics videos are tacky and rightly stigmatised. I really can't see how WiiFit could make anyone fit.
Nintendo are on to something big here.
Look round you, obesity is a problem. Companies exploit this problem to make money, like diets, organic foods, fitness DVD's. Getting fit nowadays must seem like a mountain to climb, which suppresses peoples lifestyle. This unique approach is bound to be popular, it seems easier and essentially it seems fun.
This will not hurt the gaming industry, as it's not intended to be a game. When Nintendo start ruining their franchises, then maybe we could argue that they are ruining gaming, but with Nintendo's recent releases, (notably SMG) this isn't the case.
[QUOTE="Tylendal"][QUOTE="Dante2710"]just go to a gym if u wanna lose weight.......:?thejakel11225
A gym membership costs a lot of money. Plus, Wii-fit would make exercising more entertaining. The reaon I don't exercise often is because it's dead boring.
Can you explain how Wiifit will make exercising more fun??!! Because of it's light hearted nature.Look at your local gym for instance, it's got ancient club music playing on repeat and they haven't changed the soundtrack for years, every machine is a chore to use and you feel tired for the rest of the day. It's all so boring, the only alternative to get physically fit is sport, but what if you are hopeless at sport? Half of the appeal goes as it's not rewarding, I know what I'm talking about as I competed for Essex (an English county), I ran on a national level.
Look at these diets for instance, my mum can't eat vegetables today, but she can eat meat, she can't ever eat bread or potatoes and many other things....
This suppresses her lifestyle, WiiFit (if it lives up to it's promise) is an accessible and fun fitness tool. That's how it makes it more fun.
i'm sorry but it's called a gym, that's where you should be getting your exercising and conditioning, OUTDOORS as well, not on a gaming console, I didnt buy a gaming console to get in shape.mmirza23
Some people either can't afford a Gym or don't like Gyms.....I myself rather play DDR at my house for an hour than drive to a GYM work out for an hour and then drive back

While I respect your opinion, you should know that this idea has a very good chance to explode. People buy "quick fixes" for weight all the time. Usually within a week, it is sitting in the corner and the purchaser is back on the couch eating chips.

If your a traditional gamer then its hurting you in a negative way. Say buh bye to more hardcore centric games and say hello to half-games that are created to take advantage of a real crisis in America. Why would a Japanese company care about that honestly? Whoever is heading Nintendo did their homework as they are definitely seizing the oppertunity. All signs point to desperation if you take into account the Gamecubes failure.
Say bye to hardcore centric games? I don't see a trend yet, Nintendo's "hardcore" franchises haven't been turned to "half-games" the fact that they made TP the game it was to please the Zelda fanbase after WW shows that they care for their fanbase. Even so, the Wii isn't the only gaming platform out today. You're making assumptions on limited evidence.
As for desperation, you're probably right, a risk was their only option this generation.

Zelda, Mario and Metroid Prime, after that, then what? Ninja BreadMan 2 and Cooking GRANDMama?. Were are the NEW games? Were are the Bioshocks, Crysis' or the Dead Risings for their platform. Were are the new games like Sabateur or Borderland. Why aren't companies like Bioware, Irrational, Bethesda or Infinity Ward putting their heavy hitters on the Wii. Instead Nintendo is relying on it's 1st parties and plethora of mini-games to sell systems. I'm making assumptions based on what I see, and I see a future trend.
Do you really think MSFT would have released a game like Scene It all their own? It's an obvious response to a grown fanbase thats being spearheaded by Nintendo.
Not neccessarily "buh bye" but the convergence of these types of games in the industry will be more evident in the future and their focus won't be as centered. Much like Nintendo.

If it can help you wanting to fit, well the Wiifit will be way more useful than a gym subscription.

anyone else remember the days when gaming was about 'fun'?

it's not like you do it all in one session. 30 min a day of physical activity goes a long way to make ppl more healthy. plenty of research on that. Just a little increase every day makes a difference.
I'll probably buy it. Yoga, and keeping a digital... memory of my workouts.
The woman could stand to lose a few pounds too.
I could probably... stay fit, or something.
...
Nah,who am I kidding, I'm already awesome, I'll just get it for yoga and her.

why can't it be fun and healthy? DDR is. should that be the only physically demanding game?

not, but if it succeds, we'll be seeing more and more of these kind of games ... and instead of metroid prime 4 you will be playing wii fit 4.

Exactly, so i can't see them using this. Not that it will do a great deal anyway. Its not exactly gonna shed those pounds off.
