[QUOTE="gingerdivid"][QUOTE="Pro_wrestler"][QUOTE="gingerdivid"]Nintendo are on to something big here.
Look round you, obesity is a problem. Companies exploit this problem to make money, like diets, organic foods, fitness DVD's. Getting fit nowadays must seem like a mountain to climb, which suppresses peoples lifestyle. This unique approach is bound to be popular, it seems easier and essentially it seems fun.
This will not hurt the gaming industry, as it's not intended to be a game. When Nintendo start ruining their franchises, then maybe we could argue that they are ruining gaming, but with Nintendo's recent releases, (notably SMG) this isn't the case.

If your a traditional gamer then its hurting you in a negative way. Say buh bye to more hardcore centric games and say hello to half-games that are created to take advantage of a real crisis in America. Why would a Japanese company care about that honestly? Whoever is heading Nintendo did their homework as they are definitely seizing the oppertunity. All signs point to desperation if you take into account the Gamecubes failure.
Say bye to hardcore centric games? I don't see a trend yet, Nintendo's "hardcore" franchises haven't been turned to "half-games" the fact that they made TP the game it was to please the Zelda fanbase after WW shows that they care for their fanbase. Even so, the Wii isn't the only gaming platform out today. You're making assumptions on limited evidence.
As for desperation, you're probably right, a risk was their only option this generation.
Zelda, Mario and Metroid Prime, after that, then what? Ninja BreadMan 2 and Cooking GRANDMama?. Were are the NEW games? Were are the Bioshocks, Crysis' or the Dead Risings for their platform. Were are the new games like Sabateur or Borderland. Why aren't companies like Bioware, Irrational, Bethesda or Infinity Ward putting their heavy hitters on the Wii. Instead Nintendo is relying on it's 1st parties and plethora of mini-games to sell systems. I'm making assumptions based on what I see, and I see a future trend.
Do you really think MSFT would have released a game like Scene It all their own? It's an obvious response to a grown fanbase thats being spearheaded by Nintendo.
Not neccessarily "buh bye" but the convergence of these types of games in the industry will be more evident in the future and their focus won't be as centered. Much like Nintendo.
What's next? We never know what is next with Nintendo, Nintendo are extremely secretive, for better or worse. But, for '08 the Wii has Super Smash, which of course is yet another killer app.As for your reference to Bioshock and Crysis, you've totally missed the point of the Wii. I'm sure Nintendo said from the outset that this wasn't all about graphics, they said it was going to be different. Where are games like Zack and Wiki on the 360? Where are games like Galaxy on the other platforms?
Yes, many exploit the Wii's casual fanbase to make shovelware, but this dosen't mean hardcore games will die altogether. There may be an increasing trend on the Wii, but not on other consoles.
I still don't see how this is relevant to Wii Fit, as Wii Fit isn't shovelware.
