I don't care what you think you know it's true, the VC alone puts both XBLA and PSN to shame, add that to Wiiware and W00t. Furthermore, i know PS3 can do online surfing but it can be so much of a hassle without the comfort of the Wiimote.

they just need to step it up with the communication and it's golden.

Yeah its not bad actually. However since versing other people online is one of the main points of online gaming then the wii's overall online is still poor as it fails at the most important part of online gaming. However I agree its good in other aspectsmonkeysrfat

I agree. It does everything else pretty well except for online gaming. They need to work on getting more games online because I sure as hell don't wanna play Super Mario Strikers online.

Brawl and Medal of Honor are the only things I would even attempt to play online with. For those reasons I think Xbox Live is the better service.

It still mind-boggles me though that I can talk with people while playing Pokemon, but I cant do it with Brawl. :|

It cant be the Best in something if its lacking in most areas, Demos, Trailers, Movies, original content, etc.. and since the Wii has no HDD and that doesnt seem to be changing anytime soon, I dont see many of these things changing.

Mario Kart's online is supposed to be the best on Wii yet (from IGN UK review). Nintendo are getting better with online, and i think Wii ware and the VC are two of the greatest things about the system.

Out of the 3 main consoles the Wii is the one that needs online the least.

However the DS has a far better online service and I thought that by now the Wii would have more online games than it currently does. MP3 limited online features were a disappointment to be honest. Get your finger out Nintendo!

yeah you can surf with the wii and download old games. but XBL lets you download movies, trailers, demos, and play online with people. You cannot do any of those on the nintendo service. Nintendo does not need to waste much time with upgrading to a "nintendo online" type service. their demographic is not the same people that play on playstation online or xbl, hence the use of "friend codes" instead of screen names. I think XBL is the best (thats why people pay for it) and all its missing is more classic downloads to go with Contra, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade game, and Dig Dug. But thats my opinion. If i want to surf the web, i go to my computer and use a better browser.

edit: oh and for those that dont have xboxlive, u can download tv episodes. some are available in HD, and some are actually free (although rare).

You mean VC games, which are pretty much direct ports of old Nintendo titles with no change to them what so-ever? That somehow makes up for offering pretty much nothing else at this time? I hope you seriously don't considered that to be the best.

with Wiiware it truly is, i find it funny how people act like trailers are a good service from XBL when............... you can just view them on your Wii with the internet channel :|

and to Talldude: first of all Wii does indeed let you play with other people, second of all it's free unike the XBL and finally, if you wanted to surf the net with a superior PC then why not D/L music, movies, and TV shows as well? :?

I dont understand why Wii owners act like Wiiware is something new, when PSN, and XBLA have had original content since the beginning. As for surfing the internet and watching videos, your not going to find videos in high quality like XBL and PSN offer (HD) or let alone full length videos. As well VC doesn't put PSN or XBL to shame. It has 1 more AAA title, and 6 more AA titles than XBLA. while XBLA adds content, achievements, online play, and sometimes even HD, while all VC has is straight ports for the most part. XBLA / PSN is a great deal more advanced in that respect. Putting something to shame would be like how XBL has 188 demos while Wii has 0, XBL has 137 game trailers while Wii has 1, XBL has 64 movies to Wii's 0, XBL has 20 TV series to Wii's 0. The Wii cant be the best when it offers nothing in so many areas.

Those few titles that are straight ports without new content, are not going to make up for how far behind the Wii is in all of the other downloadable content.

I agree, but the Wii online capabilities are ruined by Nintendo's aversion to a proper online system and the lack of a hard drive.

True, but the option for decent demos would stretch SD cards.

It doesn't even have the best downloadable content yet. Wiiware sounds great but I'm not convince it will be propperly supported.

If you really want to use your console for internet, you can use any usb / bluetooth keyboard and mouse on the ps3, beats the wiimote for surfing.

The Wii is also compatible with a USB keyboard and we don't need a mouse as long as the Wiimote works :P

Wiimote is more comforting plus it has a better browsing software (no that's not my fanboy side they did many comperasions between the two and Wii always comes superior).

The selection of upcoming games for the channel looks solid atm even with the throw away games included, i like that platformer thats about using the wind but i'm not confident that the games will remain consistent. Only abit of time will tell if the channel can deliver good small games for a fair price and whether they release games often enough. It's a great chance for indie studios but PSN, Steam and Live are offering a similar environment. I dunno it's like the Wii itself, it could release good games consistantly and has potential but even Nintendo have barely done much more than they already achieved with the Gamecube and with Wiiware its a worse situation, 3rd parties will have to be the main contributors.

I also believe alot of devs will try to abuse micro transactions like SquareEnix.

actually Wiiware is better because it doesn't allow restrictions like the other two, and although i do agree that time will tell i think you're being very negative, Wiiware is having a MUCH bigger launch than any online service before it. No offense of course pleaase don't take this personally (you know a lot of people here actually get offended so.. :P)

you can get the game on Xboxlive, for the sega Saturn, and Psp. so really the reason its not on the wii has to be something. so just because it came out on PS1, does not mean it cannot be on the VC. It wont be, because Nintendo limits VC games to old releases on Genesis, TG 16, Snes, Nes, bu thas not added Saturn (yet). Hopefully Nintendo keeps adding to the VC at a faster pace. they need to get more games on there. and avoid the really bad ones.

Hopefully Nintendo keeps adding to the VC at a faster pace. they need to get more games on there. and avoid the really bad ones.

But a problem with that is disk space. Nintendo has yet to announce an external HDD or even SD support. SotN is a big game and could take a lot of space. Although, they are releasing Rondo of Blood in Japan, the Turbo CD version (not that SNES joke).

pretty obvious you don't have a Wii and don't use VC so until you do come back to me.nintendo-4life

Its pretty obvious that you have never used XBL marketplace to even say the Wii has the best service for downloads. You might as well made this thread about how you feel VC is better than XBLA and PSN arcade games, because that is all you are talking about. Downloadable content includes much more than just arcade titles (Which is the only feature the Wii offers in downloads at this time). It's far from the best when it has nothing else, while all of the other consoles have many more services. I'm not going to act like the 400+ downloadable content that the Wii has nothing like, doesn't count because the Wii doesn't have it.

[QUOTE="nintendo-4life"][QUOTE="opex07"]You cant even DL demos with the Wii, which is pretty much standard on everyother system.nintendo-4life

coming soon.... and it doesn't change a thing.

It cant be the Best in something if its lacking in most areas, Demos, Trailers, Movies, original content, etc.. and since the Wii has no HDD and that doesnt seem to be changing anytime soon, I dont see many of these things changing.

all of those pale in comparison to it's games that it offers.

Putting something to shame would be like how XBL has 188 demos while Wii has 0, XBL has 137 game trailers while Wii has 1, XBL has 64 movies to Wii's 0, 20 TV series to Wii's 0. The Wii cant be the best when it offers nothing in so many areas.

Those few titles that are straight ports without new content, are not going to make up for how far behind the Wii is in all of the other downloadable content.

actually the Wii has console classics, not arcade classics. 2 totally different things. back in the day arcades were much better graphics. and xboxlive has some arcade classics and some new games that were never on consoles or arcades. not to mention pc classics like Doom. Lets see you play Doom on the wii.......oh wait you cant. at least not yet, maybe they will add the 32x or snes versions..........

0I'm not knocking VC or anything, but it would have been nice if Nintendo at least change some VC titles to match some of the Wii's compatibilty. Like Ocarina of Time or Mario Kart 64. You can't save your ghost in Mario Kart 64 on the Wii because they didn't update it slightly so the Wii can save it and Ocarina of Time doesn't have Rumble for it which was one of the key aspects of the game if you want to use stone of agony to find and hidden holes in the ground. Theres a few other titles that could have at least been updated to include ALL the features that the Wii can utlilize. It seems nearly all N64 game have been gimped and makes me wonder why does it cost 1000 points when there are features that have been left out.......

PSN has streaming capabilities as well, for a couple months now. XBL may be behind in this feature, but you can at least stream any video that is downloaded on your computer to your 360 / PSN.

XBL has trailers for every game for the most part as well for movies, and TV shows, gameplay footage. Is "everybody's nintendo channel" even available outside of japan?

XBL has demos for pretty much every game, including XBLA titles.

Wiiware hasn't even been released in the US yet, it doesnt compare to something XBL has had for 2 and a half years.

I own a wii and the internet channel is ok with browsing but the they dont even bother to send you a flash player update so it makes many sites useless.

Yea I agree, Nintendo just needs to really do their part in making games with great online and I believe MK:Wii is the game that will showcase that the Wii can do online gaming. Read IGN's perspective on the online, they praise it :D

hardrive is not that big of a problem if they allow full access to SD cardsnintendo-4life

Nintendo have repeatedly said they will not allow this. It's a piracy issue - eventually someone will manage to crack the Virtual Console DRM and start distributing the titles on the internet. There goes a chunk of their revenue right there. And it's not even a case of "if", it will happen in a matter of months.

yeah you can surf with the wii and download old games. but XBL lets you download movies, trailers, demos, and play online with people.

Talldude80

If I wanted to rent movies, I'd go to Blockbuster. If I wanted to watch TV episodes or trailers, I'd go check online (or actually watch TV).

Yeah, VC is all ports, but it's got some classic titles.
