excuse me dont get me started on the number of games available for the n64 being well under 400
and the fact that most of the good ones were by nintendo and very little variety in them , unlike the wii snes nes gc , ,
--------------------------- and you wanna say wii does not have first party games ? all right you owe me one hundred because i can name alot of first party wii games i can also name many 3rd party greats
now what did n64 have that is missing from the wii except
fzero -oh wait that can also be played on wii vc
---- 1080-scratch
paper mario-scratch
oot-scratch !
i dont honestly think theres a reason unless you still play top gear rally , that youd think n64 is better then the wii when wii has every nintendo ip n64 had and more,
i cant believe i heard you for real , -- whats n64s line up
oh lets see
ya thats alot of games ? not!
its funny some one said n64 was better then wii when wii has every major ip from nintendo that n64 has and more infact wii plays n64 games lol its appearent some one does not own a wii , or theyd know this
and the only reason i still play my n64 is -- -rugrats and top gear rally since the other games are else where!

That is a pathetic excuse. On SW, graphics are often underplayed in importance in order to sound like a 'gamer' who enjoys gameplay.
Graphics are crucial in creating better experiences. Crysis had great sandbox gameplay, and I'm telling you right now it woudln't have been capable to have a similair gameplay experience without mind blowing tech behind it.
Imagine trying to render God Of War 3's epic bosses without the sufficient tech to make them so godly to look at? Half of the atmosphere and detail is killed
Even SS, an outstanding Zelda game, suffered in my eyes due to the jaggies and overall outdated look. Sure the gameplay was fun, but the brillaint artstyle wasn't done justice with the crappy Wii's hardware.
Well ok, the the same thing was said about the Wii, and I'm pretty damn sure that I can never have a good experience with it given its library. Sure, good games here and there, but it's nothing compared to other consoles, let alone PC.
Now look at the Wii U library, same thing.
Let's see. We have the Mario trifecta (Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Galaxy 2, New Super Mario Bros.). That's three. We have The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, which is a Gamecube game, but let's just accept it as a Wii game. That's four. We have Donkey Kong Country Returns. That's five. We have Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Nope brah, six games isn't a ton. The Last Story. Xenoblade. Kirby's Epic Yarn. Metroid Prime 3 Super Paper Mario Punch Out! Metroid: Other M (fvck the people who are all "IT RUINED SAMUS' CHARACTER WAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!" She didn't have a **** personality before) And then we get into the third party games. You buggin, son.[QUOTE="charizard1605"][QUOTE="DarkLink77"] Um... what? There are a ton of great first party games on the Wii.DarkLink77
I think the main criticism was that Samus never had a character to begin with, and so giving it attention and trying to act like she did was a bad move.
Game was pretty good though
Yeah, look at the Wii U library, even though we barely know it's future.Well ok, the the same thing was said about the Wii, and I'm pretty damn sure that I can never have a good experience with it given its library. Exactly, well said :)
Graphics alone don't make a game if the core gameplay is broken, sure, but good and eye-pleasing visuals are still a very important aspect of nearly any game, they strongly improve the immersion, create the right atmosphere of the game world and make already good games much better...
First thing most gamers notice when watching trailers and announcements for new games is the visuals, so good visuals are very important for creating a positive first impression...
And to accomplish all that, you always need good and competent hardware to back it up...
Sheep and Nintendo can try to downplay this as much as they want, but graphics strongly affect your gaming experience...
[QUOTE="DarkLink77"] That's because the Gamecube was an incredible console. The N64 and the Wii were, too, in their own ways.charizard1605Yes it was. It was Nintendo at its second best. Because Nintendo at its best was the N64. An entire console that was carried entirely by its exclusives, all first party exclusives, and what exclusives they were. That was an incredible system. The Wii? Nope. There was no proper third party support, and the first party games were hit and miss, more miss than hit.
I agree. Even though there were some good first party wii games..too many felt like steps backwards in the series. Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, Metroid Prime 3, Skyward Sword, Super Paper Mario, were all worse than the previous games that had just came out in that series. Melee, Mario Kart DS, Metroid Prime 2, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, were all better than those.. And Twilight Princess wasn't as good as windwaker, and Skyward Sword, even as much as I hated on TP over the years, made TP look MUCH better, I actually like TP a lot more because of how just bleh Skyward Sword was for me.
And then you had just games while they weren't worse they were just stagnat and didn't make anything better really. Like Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem, Warioland, all the mario sports games which shockingly did nothing with the Wii controls.. Well didn't do them well that is. At all.
Yeah, look at the Wii U library, even though we barely know it's future. I mostly look at the present, I don't look at the future, because as you said: we barely know anything about its future. By the day good games start coming about (which we don't know when), i'll hype the sh!t out of it.[QUOTE="rjdofu"]

free_milk
Wii U is stronger then the hd twins my friend
Mr Milk has to be right. HD twins are from 05/06. How can a machine released 6.5±0.5 years later possibly be slower? Every multiplat on the Wii U will have to have an edge on it's PS360 counterpart. I suspect that Nintendo are going to enjoy having the most powerful console for about a year ... And Mr loosingENDS, I watched the ZombieU Buckingham Palace video in 720p, it looks excellent. I look forward to seeing it live without all of YouTube's compression.Mad at Nintendo consoles being essentially the Macs of the gaming world? Yes, kinda. and just like with mac's there will always be M$ tagging along trying to copy them  and lets not even get started on sony  LOL, it's Apple who copied MS's X86 PC selection.[QUOTE="charizard1605"][QUOTE="DarkLink77"] Still mad, Chaz? inb4uall
When you think about it, Nintendo never really had much care put into graphics tech as they were gameplay even in the SNES, N64, and GameCube days. You know, the POWERFUL days where everyone loves them so much for (albeit hypocritically on the latter two consoles)?
that too many people are spending too much time looking at Wii U specifications rather than the games and the entertainment the system will offer consumers once its released this holiday season.super600What games? I don't see any.
So the experience being that they slapped another gimmick on games that can already done on other consoles? How much of a different experience can a second screen attached to your controller really give? Not much I bet.
The games. All about the games. The second screen peripheral will fall flat Im sure but like the Wii the games will overshadow the gimmick with untapped potential.
Unfortunately the gimmick was what made the wii so successful, I highly doubt the WiiU will sell as well. The games. All about the games. The second screen peripheral will fall flat Im sure but like the Wii the games will overshadow the gimmick with untapped potential.
Shirokishi_
Shouldn't that be how gaming in general goes? Sure you can get the PC with the incredible graphics but at the end of the day the best games offer you the best experiences, not necessarily the best graphics. I almost feel that's a message less for the Wii U and more for gaming in general.
I don't care what the graphics are like if a game is good, but there is nothing wrong with having both damn it.
4 of my top 10 favorite games this gen were Wii games, but I wouldn't have complained if they looked better.

Not in terms of hardware capabilities unless the 720 and PS4 are like 15X to 20X more powerful then the WiiU which won't happen this gen.
Let me get this straight, YOU "assume" that UNANNOUNCED console's won't be "X" times more powerful than a UNRELEASED console which we know very little about in terms of specification?... My God you are ridiculous.I think the Wii U will be very capable of handling all game genres sucessfully and wont have to sacrifice gameplay or presentation as compared to the xbox720 or PS4. Just some graphic details may have to be toned down a little. It wont be like the Wii which was so weak that it could not handle modern game design very well with certain type of games like FPS or rpgs like Oblivion or Skyrim.
I love this, you can't play graphics. Well ummm. sir... you do realize thats exactly what we play. The character models, the animations, the environment everything we SEE in the game are graphics. And as for the experience, Nintendo's out of the box, lets wave are hands like idiots "experience" hinders my experience. I loved Zelda SS, but it would have been so much better if could have not used the stupid Wii mote and used a regular controller. For one, when I play games, I like to lay down and kick back and relax, the Wii is the complete opposite of this and it's forcing me to play Zelda and such with all these garbage control schemes.
The tablet is good for me because it's getting away fromt he wii mote, but I would still rather have a regular controller.
The concern about specs seems to stem from what happened with Wii - it wasn't powerful enough to get certain games from 3rd parties(Mass Effect, Batman, Crysis, etc) and people would at least like some numbers to assure them that the same won't happen this time around. Yes, you can't 'play' graphics, but unless the game's visuals can be scaled down and the processor is capable of handling the number of characters on screen, AI, and whatnot, then specs certainly matter. This is under the assumption that the PS4 and 720 will be significantly more powerful, which we don't know for certain. Is it about the experience, though? Yes, but there is the possibility of missing out on an experience if the hardware can't handle it.
That's more or less how all systems are for me. I don't give a crap about graphics, it's all about the games.
Its the Wii all over again.
Ragnarok1051
This, and we all know that gimped hardware did not lead to more creative development for the Wii.
Better hardware allows more possiblities, there is nothing more to it. Purposefully gimping the hardware is pointless, you can make Minecraft or you can make Arma on better hardware, you can't make Arma on weak hardware so weak hardware = limited developer creativity.

I'd rather have a game that has decent graphics and great gameplay than a game with superb graphics but lack-luster gameplay. Some of my favorite games of this generation are Minecraft, Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario Kart Wii, and none of those have amazing graphics, but they're all some of the most fun games I've ever played. In fact, I've actually played Super Smash Bros. Brawl more than any of my PlayStation 3 games, and Minecraft more than any other game besides a couple N64 games.
I know I'm sorta side-tracking, but Nintendo hasn't ever really been about having the best graphics, it's always been about making the games that are the most fun.

Its also other stuff like the destructible environments in Crysis, punching down buildings, throwing some guy into a building all possible because of better tech. Its not just about eye candy, but actual gameplay. Something like Total war playing with thousands of units having a proper war is awesome, not like 3-4 units on a tiny map, which feels more like some kids messing about in their garden. There is literally no reason why Pikmin 3 couldn't be made exactly as it is on top tech, but it would allow higher resolutions, AA/AF and a solid 60fps. Yet it would be the same experience, but the big thing would be that Nintendo if they wanted could also make a huge game, so it isn't stifling creativity at all it would be the opposite, allowing more possibilities. Having advanced individual AI on Madden and not set animations could make a huge difference to gameplay, so better tech would allow a better experience.I'd rather have a game that has decent graphics and great gameplay than a game with superb graphics but lack-luster gameplay. Anyways, I rather take a console that has a good amount of exclusive titles than a console that shares it's library with other platforms but plays them worse.

You're right, I should rephrase that. Up until the GameCube, Nintendo was actually known for its games having amazing graphics - I mean, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, right? After that, Nintendo games started to look kind of dated, especially after the GameCube.

Wind Waker had better music, more exploration, it had its own unique style and gameplay mechanics. TP was pretty bland and boring. It was long and deep, and had a lot too it but a lot of it could have been cut out for the better imo. They wolf was fail, the music was super fail.. it just failed to really do anything that jumped out at me. Where as windwakers, sailing and exploration, unique style and polish was fantastic
