Quote from the same article..
"Sweet what a great idea! Next time I go car shopping I can pay the dealer for the exclusive right to test drive his vehicle. I mean after all I'm putting miles on it and using gas. Why shouldn't I pay? What a great deal! Maybe later Microsoft can release a new controller. It should be a USB foot connected to a hydraulic ram. Then I could pay say 500 Microsoft points for a kick to the ****!"
I say he speaks for quite a few gamers..
Demos are meant to be free. Even putting them as Promotional preorder items is almost crossing the line.
[QUOTE="Funconsole"]Simple logic here. Give me free demo...I buy full game. Give me paid demo...I dont buy game* *Some exceptions apply!*IWKYBTell that to the GT5 people that will see their game in 5 years!

Can someone explain to me why SONY fanboys are called cows, when this gen I think 360 fans have been milked the most? I call for a name change.
All of this talk about paying for a demo is making me sad :(.millerlight89Same here, sad that we will well havet to pay for demos sooner or later, Paying to play online, Gotta pay for demos, gotta pay for DLC what is gaming coming too. Maybe it is cheaper to be a PC gamer from this prespective.
Analyst: EA To Release Paid DLC Prior To Packaged Game Launches After an investor visit with Electronic Arts, analyst Michael Pachter said that the publisher is planning a strategy that will involve selling "premium downloadable content" before a packaged game's release. According to a Monday investor note from Wedbush Morgan's Pachter, Nick Earl, general manager of EA-owned Dead Space studio Visceral Games, revealed the new strategy. Pachter wrote, "The PDLC would be sold for $10 or $15 through Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, and would essentially be a very long game demo, along the lines of 2009's Battlefield 1943." He added, "A full-blown packaged game would follow shortly after the release of the PDLC, bearing a full retail price. Mr. Earl believes that the release of the PDLC first limits the risk of completing and marketing the full packaged version, and serves as a low-cost marketing tool."
By the way people... this is ACROSS THE BOARD!!! Not just XBL.. That means PSN and possibly PC demo's will charge as well.
OhSnapitz
Yeah that is true, but PC gamers is used to get everything for free. It will be next to impossible to sell demos to hermits :P
lol Couldnt agree anymore...If you make me pay for your demo I won't buy your game. Have at it.

the ONLY way id pay for a demo is if the cost of the demo came off the overall price of the game. otherwise **** that.....[QUOTE="fend_oblivion"]The funny thing is the whole non-free DLC started with comments like this now everybody pays for what the companies "forgot" to put in.A demo is a sample. Who the heck pays for samples?
IWKYB
Yeah maybe but when i watch some interviews they always ask "is it multiplayer, will you release DLC?" so the developer feels forced to add stuff like that to make crowd happy.
Now that I think about it..the only way I would probably pay for a demo is if it was intergrated with PSN service plan along with other stuff like faster downloads,DLC,ETC then maybe this would be justifible for a PS3 user like myself... BUT for 360 users there aint no way you can justify that since you guys already pay for live as it is.
Better online service. Maybe in the next gen sony will make better decisions and they will actually make a profit when they sell a console. Now that I think about it..the only way I would probably pay for a demo is if it was intergrated with PSN service plan along with other stuff like faster downloads,DLC,ETC then maybe this would be justifible for a PS3 user like myself... [QUOTE="slvrraven9"]i hate Polyhpony Digital for doing this....Respawn-d
Considering the amount of features gt5p has its was much more worth of the 40 dollars it was worth compare to ODST
wut... GT5p wasn't worth the disc it was printed on
should've just been a $15 downloadable game
I wouldnt NOT BUY the game because of a paid demo, if i was gonna buy the game without the demo. thats just dumb imo. but yea, I nearly always dl the demo before I buy a game, and I would not download the demo (100% sure of that). So yea, I would not pay for a demo. I would just have to try to try the game at a friend's house, read reviews, ask on forums, etc.

I thought this is why we had XBOX Live Gold?
I guess you both missed the part about EA charging both XBL and PSN users.. :|[QUOTE="IWKYB"][QUOTE="Santesyu"]Better online service. I can't imagine why any one would ever pay for a demo.
Even if it's "just" $5, I don't get it. For about $8 you can rent the full game for a week, and maybe even finish it in that time. You'll get a much better idea of the overall product than a demo would ever give, aswell.

I wouldent call this a demo "Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Spec III features 16-player online races, over 70 cars (including tuned cars), 6 tracks, 12 layouts"
PGR3 for example has 80 cars and its a full priced title.
Need for Speed Shift has a little over 60 cars, and 19 tracks.
So i dont think its a demo, simply prologue for fans who wait on the full title.
