I guess you both missed the part about EA charging both XBL and PSN users.. :|[QUOTE="OhSnapitz"][QUOTE="Game-fu"]
Lol, amen.
I thought this is why we had XBOX Live Gold?

I guess you missed the part where one of the advertised features of XBL Gold is free demos.
lol...Silver gets free demos.
another tool that thinks there's a direct affiliation between Gold and the demos on XBL....
such as?[QUOTE="OhSnapitz"][QUOTE="lucky_star"] Prologue has more content than most full titles. Its not a demo.lucky_star
I wouldent call this a demo "Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Spec III features 16-player online races, over 70 cars (including tuned cars), 6 tracks, 12 layouts"
PGR3 for example has 80 cars and its a full priced title.
Need for Speed Shift has a little over 60 cars, and 19 tracks.
So i dont think its a demo, simply prologue for fans who wait on the full title.
it's still a demo...I guess you both missed the part about EA charging both XBL and PSN users.. :|[QUOTE="OhSnapitz"][QUOTE="Game-fu"]

Honestly, it's an expansion pack. Not a demo, but no quite a full game either.
[QUOTE="lawlessx"][QUOTE="lucky_star"]it's still a demo... Because you say so? ok. your worried that calling it a demo is somehow undermining it. It doesn't matter how much content it is; if it's not the final game it's a demo in my book.I wouldent call this a demo "Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Spec III features 16-player online races, over 70 cars (including tuned cars), 6 tracks, 12 layouts"

no, it's a marketing ploy using the game's popularity to fund the main game's inflated budget?
or we can call it a demo, or an expansion pack.
A, B, C if you will.

I guess you both missed the part about EA charging both XBL and PSN users.. :|No i did not miss that but this thread is about if 360 users will pay for it or not...
Kinda ruins the point of it being a demo... Thats like checking if you like a game then ending up paying 75$ for it. They need to consider free XBL, i have PS3 and the PSN and XBL are practically the same. If XBL came out now it would be free, it made sense for it to be paid for back in the day when the 360 was out and PS3 and Wii weren't. Now this idea of paying for demos would be probably the stupidest thing to do, if at all it should be company that makes the games choice if it should be a bought demo, because they are the only ones loosing costumers if demos would cost money. Microsoft would make me disappointed, but i wouldn't be effected, but still its stupid enough for live to STILL cost money. Microsoft just has no courtesy.http://www.xblafans.com/new-pricing-for-demos-could-change-xbla-games-in-a-big-way-168.html

Simply No. I've downloaded the Trails of Perfect Dark, Bayonetta and Lost Planet 2! I don't want to pay for those! I want to pay for the Actual Game! (I almost bought Perfect Dark today),
the only demo i've ever paid for was GT5p and when i used to buy crap magazines for that disk on the front (although i used to steal them of the covers mostly).
Come on EA, you were doing so well. Activision is supposed to be the company ruining the gaming industry now, did you miss the memo?
Game demo should be free.
Just like I can watch a trailer on TV or in the cinema, or online, for a film for free before I buy it. Or read a few pages of a book in the store or online for free before I buy it. Or listen to a sample of the latest song/album in a music store or on YouTube before I buy it. Etc etc etc.
To preview an interactive video game you have to be able to play it not just look at screens or watch some videos of it, this is what game demos are for, and just like the equivelant of every other entertainment medium out there it should be free.
Of course, if they are offering 7 hour long demos then that's a different thing altogether and is more like releasing a basic version of the game for slighlty cheaper and then a full priced full version of the game as an extension of that.
A better solution would be to use services like XBLA, PSN and even OnLive etc to offere time limited trials of the full game then after a certain amount of time you can no longer play the trial version but can choose to purchase the full game if you want.
I still prefere having a demo I can come back to and play time and time again, just because that works for me, but either way there are better solutions than making the customer pay to get a taste of a game imo.
The sad thing about this is for all the people coming on here saying, "I won't pay for an extended demo," there will still be lots of other gamers willing to toss money at the developers whenever a AAA demo comes out. I personally would never pay for this "premium downloadable content" BS.
I am a huge fan of the Gran Turismo series, but refuse to buy GT5 Prologue. If Prologue was the first game in the series, you could compare it to other racing games. But its not the first in the series, and always had between 180 - 800 vehicles. Releasing a "game" in the series with only 70 cars sounds like an extended demo to me. By purchasing Prologue, you are telling Polyphony Digital, and every other developer out there that it is OK to do this kind of stuff in the future.
first they talkabout rasing xbox live price to 62-75 per year ,
now they want to start charging for demos to? talk about getting nickled and dimed! i regret paying for gtprologue
,, that being said , i refuse tomake the same mistake tw ice especally since we pay enough already 99 to get started-wifi ,50 for multiplayer
then when a developer chooses to leave features out and charge us 5 dollars for it weshell out there to
-resident evil 5
nowthey really are destroying this industry inch by inch pretty soon theyll make us pay to play a game period-look at onlive! your charged for the service-whcih means your being charged even if you dontwant ityou cant playy our games unless you subscribe so may be we are gonna see somtihng similar and boy thats the day i quit
enough is enoughpretty soon buying a game console will be as expensive as owning a house! isnt there a thing on mses console that we dont pay for!
seriously lets make a list shall we
-wifi-100
- headset-20
-componants-20
online play-currently 50 but couldraise to 75
-dlc thats mostly content left out of thegame-re5 -5 bucks and as ridculouly high as 1200-cod6
-themes and gamerpics and avatar quipment-20-180
-music videos-now the later is really a rip off seeing as their free on youtube or mtv.com etc
- repair billls by microsoft-how many ofus had to buy a newconsole cause it breaks
and ms refuses to repair it -i think i should include this because its bound to happen
possiblefuture costs
-demos-ridiculous
- singleplayer (believe me if ms is desperate enough tocharge for demosetc what makes you thinkthey wont stoop tothis low) onlive already has
and lets not forget silly add ons
-natal
- cam same as natal with less features
-keyboard -oculdnt theyallow pc keyboard to be used shesh
- their expensive priority hard drives(unless you want to be restricted to 32 gigs of space
seriously , every xbox 1 had hard drives
and everything else was not needed!

TC, shouldn't you edit the thread title to be Will Gamers Pay for Demos, seeing as the story you linked to is not platform specific?
And heck no, paying for GT5p...err...I mean demos is ludicrous.
i actually thought about it but ur the only one who noticedWow what massive failure for several posters in this thread. Dogging MS & Xbox fans over this when the article clearly states it will not be all demos but only those for Electronic Arts games & they plan to do so not only on Xbox Live but on the Playstation Network as well. LOL at the blind fanboys in this thread.
then it would seem like ur paying $1-10 for the demo and then your paying another $60.This isn't your typical demo anyways. If you read the article they have ideas like 1 to 2 hour campaigns released as prologues to an upcoming game, so this wouldn't actually be part of the game itself. So really it would be more like normal DLC.

[QUOTE="Funconsole"]Simple logic here. Give me free demo...I buy full game. Give me paid demo...I dont buy game* *Some exceptions apply!*IWKYBTell that to the GT5 people that will see their game in 5 years!
Guess you haven't realized that Polyphony has released Prologues for other GT games... kids... :P

Can someone explain to me why SONY fanboys are called cows, when this gen I think 360 fans have been milked the most? I call for a name change.
Well, nothing beats GT5P :P
On topic, i would never pay for a demo. I dont even pay for DLCs.
alot of GT comments, why?PSP107GT Prologue was essentially a very elaborate demo for $40. YES. They gave you a lot for a demo but it's not the full game. And for those saying "You got teh 70 cars and 12 tracks.." Ok so if I bought prologue for $40 does that mean when GT5 releases later this year it'll be $20? :| NO. It'll be $60 with the same material you purchased in prologue.. Meaning you just paid $100 for the GT5 PS3 experience. (I really hope I'm wrong on this one).
