[QUOTE="-wii60-"][QUOTE="Unholy_Smite"]Stop this sheep, you are NOT getting the good stuff. Just go get a PS3 or 360. You could cut bioshock in half and it would be twice as powerful as the wii. Not gonna happen!WalterPaladines

why they'll get two inferior machines? when they can have a powerfull pc and play all the superior multiplats and better exclusives..

Not everyone wants to spend $3,000-$5,000 in hardware alone, when for $500 you buy a PS3 and you get about the same graphics, UT3 for example.

We havent seen the game run on PC yet from what ive heard, But Games like Crysis cant be done on PS3 and niether can Far Cry 2. and then there is Spore as well. THere are enough PC games with superior graphics to consoles that you can play on a 800-1200 dollar PC.

You call the PS3 and 360 inferior to the Wii? Sorry but you fail uberhard there. PC's cost to much and and 360 is a better option price wise and control the PS3. The "multiplats" ARE best on those 2 and PC's have major cost and control issues. I can't collect PC games because I can't afford to upgrade my memory enough to hold them.

No,both consoles are inferior to PC, my pc destroy both ps3 and xbox360 graphics and yet i paid 700euros for it.

Just because you say it has low textures it does not make it so. Have you seen any UT3 PS3 videos? it looks identical to the PC version, and running at 60 fps

[QUOTE="Lazy_Boy88"]Aside from the little problem of the hardware being completely incapable of something even close. Face it sheep Nintendo screwed everyone over with the Wii hardware. They could've easily made a no-loss $250 system capable of 720p near 360 quality visuals. And I do mean EASILY. They did with the $199 Gamecube being close to the Xbox. Instead we get a $250 Gamecube era machine that costs MORE than the Gamecube launched at 6 YEARS AGO. It's making Nintendo big money ripping everyone off but it prettymuch blew any chance of complete domination since it can't handle most any PS3/360 multiplat.

The Wii just cannot and will not ever get any game even close to Bioshock. Hell the Wii won't even see anything that goes past 2004 PC games.

foxhound_fox

Doom 3 and Half Life 2 ran on the Xbox. They weren't pretty but they ran... and were somewhat playable.

As another poster said, I myself would rather see a port of System Shock 2 to the Wii. It is better than BioShock.

Same goes for the 360 and PS3. When it comes to games like Crysis, Sony and MS really shafted gamers with the low-end hardware they delivered.

Yeah you're right those games did just barely run on Xbox. Now here we're talking about games 3 years more advanced than Doom3 or HL2 and there's just no way to strip it down THAT much. And the Wii is certainly not 3 years more advanced than the Xbox. Prettymuch same generation as the Xbox and marginally more capable overall.... but really isn't even close to as well suited as Xbox was to get these stripped down PC ports because of architechture and developement tools.

Why are you even arguing this if all you want is ancient games? You apparently have PC there's plent of ancient games you can play. Why pay $250 for something that's worth $149 at best when its only capable of ancient technicals? I'm sure there's a good IR mouse pointer by now if the Wiimote is what you care about.

If hardware power, effects, AI, graphics, physics, ect don't matter to you then fine. But don't act no one else should want VALUE for their money instead of handing over full price for rehashed junk from Nintendo because its "fun".

PS3/360 are of reasonable power for the time they came out and price. The Wii would only be if it came out in 2002.

I do like Nintendo games I'm just pissed about them overpricing absolutely everything.

It'll be locked soon at 30fps mark rein said it, that was only a demo  demo=/=complete game,It will not look identical, console games always get some downgraded compare with superior versions on PC,stop making urself look bad ps3 can't compete with PC any console fanboy knows this.

How do you know they could have made a no-loss $250 system near visual quality of the 360? Just look at the cost of the 360. MS was actually losing money selling it at $400 and you think Nintendo can make a no-loss $250 system to get near visual qualities of the 360? Sounds more like BS. In fact, even if they did, fanboys would still crap all over it.

I know because I have reasoning abilities and actually understand concepts like computer hardware gets cheaper over time, unlike you.

1. The Gamecube was near modern and cost $199 retail and $209 to manufacture at launch if I remember correctly. How the hell could the Wii, using the similar architechure, possibly cost much more than $100 to make? Especially considering the Gamecube has been $99 since 2003.

2. Nintendo makes at least $90 per system pure profit. There's been links here and I'm not going to link them. The real number is probably a lot more than that now.

3. You can buy the basic components of off the shelf PC parts that are far superior to the Wii for about $100.

4. A recent statistic was that Nintendo made 2 billion last quater from hardware and only 1 billion from software.

If MS and Sony are losing money just to provide us with top of the line hardware why the hell do we let Nintendo get away with overcharging for ancient technology? It's just plain greedy of them really and I can't believe you guys don't even care they rip you off so much. I mean the VC is the worst about it. $8 a SNES ROM DOWNLOAD when anyone could steal the entire SNES library in a single torrent package? WTF? $3 is about right to be cheap and good value.

You guys just really don't understand the difference between cost and value I guess.

the game is confirmed to be running at 30FPS on the PS3.

SO its not even going to be on the same level. and PC versions run above 60FPS consistantly.

I played games at 30fps and 60fps and also 120fps if that is what PC is at...Didn't notice a difference hermit. I played some PS3 games and 360 games...The PS3 looked better at 30fps. So this fps stuff needs to stop as there isn't a noticeable difference.

Wow. Aside from Foxhoud_fox, PannicAtack and Teufelhuhn everyone managed to spin this onto hardware limitations. There is nothing stopping a dev from making a game like Bioshock for the Wii. Hardware is definately not the penultimate issue for it not to.

Teuf said it best. Nintendo don't encourage such games.

dracula_16

Realistic physics is last gen, not 'truly next-gen', according to Half-Life 2 (N64-gen, is you count Trespasser).
The AI may not be possible on a Wii, but the AI in Bioshock isn't spectacular in any case.
Atmosphere has little to do with hardware - Bioshock's predecessor, System Shock 2, and Thief (made by the same company) are arguably more atmospheric than Bioshock, and they could easily run on a PS2 (the weakest last-gen system).

A direct port would be impossible, but a port might be...if they took out some of the physics, maybe a bit of the AI and a lot of the graphical effects.

The TC never said anything about BioShock itself.

The AI in Prime 3 is about as good as the AI in BioShock. I was expecting industry chaning AI when I heard Levine talking about the interactions between the Splicers and Big Daddies... when I actually played the game, most of the events seemed heavily scripted. And the physics in BioShock really aren't that great either.

graphics too, textures, and overall polishSonic_on_crack

The level of detail put into the worlds in Prime 3 trumps BioShock quite wholly. It may lack the pixels but it doesn't lack attention to detail. Everything has its place in Prime 3... and it takes a while to see it all.

Overall polish? Have you played Prime 3? I didn't think so. It is probably one of the most well polished games I've played in my life. BioShock felt like a mess at times and has quite a few bugs.

As John Mcenroe would say, "YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS". You must be one extreme die hard crazy nintendo fan to say some stuff like that. Say what you want, but you are completely and totally and absolutely wrong.

You could make a game "like" Bioshock on the freaking NES. Set in an underwater city, has big daddies and little sisters. Same thing, right? You could have the same story, dialogue, locations, ect, but it would be no means be even close to what Bioshock is. %90 of what makes Bioshock Bioshock is the immersion and atmosphere through visuals and effects. Replicating a similar experience is completely impossible on the Wii.

Oh god not another PC pimp, where are they coming from.

Back to topic, games like Bioshock maybe Wii does have Prime which is a good FPS, so why not another FPS with RPG elements. But in terms of Bioshock production value NEVER.

First of all Bioshock uses lighting to create atmosphere, the entire game is based on physics, lighting and visual flare non of which are too great on the Wii. A game similar to Bioshock in gameplay maybe but no game on Wii will ever even come close to Bioshock on production value.

Exactly what he's saying, you can shoot Transformers the movie for 2 dollars with toy figurines and a cheap VHS camcorder with same plot and dialogue but will it be the same Transformers shot for over 100 million on Panavision with hollywood effects. Part of gaming is presentation just like cinema presentation compliments the story and if you lack that presentation you don't have the same product.

RE5 and Bioshock count on next gen visuals, HDR lighting, physics, HD textureto generate the atmosphere sadly on Wii it would be like watching Transformers shot on VHS with yourneighbours kid as the lead.

You agree that next-gen visuals, HDR lighting, physicsand HD texturesare 90% of what makes RE5 and Bioshock? I underlined physics since it's a huge chunk of what makes a game.

Is the Wii really that bad?

dracula_16

I've played the game long enough now to say without doubt that everything that makes this game so "special" could be done on Wii, even the water (although itobviously won'tlook quite as good). Obviously graphicallythe whole gamewouldn't look quiteasnice but that is not really what makes this game good anyway. It's just aadded bonus.

It's basicallyjust System Shock 2 orHalf-Life1/2 with an underwater setting and next-gen graphics...

If you really don't get that by now they you are just not paying attention.

Two things:

1. Bioshock is essentially a new version of System Shock 2. The Wii could easily have games like that, if the developers tried. The technical aspects are not the impressive thing about Bioshock. I'd say harping on technical aspects is doing a disservice to the game. It's about making choices and customization, like an RPG. I see no reason the Wii couldn't do that.

2. Metroid Prime 3 is absolutely nothing like Bioshock.

>_>

PannicAtack

The Wii cant even run Unreal engine 3 and you expect it to run Bioshock

Not Bioshock itself, but maybe a spinoff.......and they'd have to rename to appeal to the userbase......like say Bioshock Party or Marioshock.

If we're thinking about bioshock as a game there is very little that would be needed to be dumbed down to the point of combustion so that it could play on the wii. When we think next-gen we see not really graphics, but AI, physics, lighting and the amount of stuff that can be forced onto the screen at any given frame. The AI in bioshock is hardly leaps and bounds of anything we havent already seen in halo (granted you're now fighting demented psychos now who only need to follow you in a loop waving meniachly to justify their presence) but still we're not talking the SAS now are we? physics is something that i have not seen to be a particularly major part of the bioshock "experiance" (besides telekenesis) but you would have to forgive me as I have not played the game to the length and depth that would justify me to write a review about it. Besides the huge degree of textural and graphical detail that bioshock uses. It would not be impossible for the game to be ported to the wii, it would be crap, but bioshock would be easier to port over to the wii than say halo 3.

I got a bit off track but my point is that the game could be ported in some form to the wii and it would be functional. but it would just not be as good (or indeed any where near as good) as a 360 or PC equivalent. I would much rather have a game like bioshock, in terms of atmosphere and mood. Grim and impressive settings can be easily produced on any system (half life, alien resurrection and system shock 2 to name a few)

now that nintendo is once again the king of gaming, it would be great if it got bioshock...nintendo should pay for the port,it would be awesomesurgestrip

the "king of gaming"??? If your refering to the amount of consoles sold then the "king of gaming" would belong to the PC. DUH!

Will they make Bioshock for the Wii? Ur joking right?

And graphics.

graphics =/= game depth. Learn to distinguish between the two.

There are other games that will blow peoples to pieces... like SMG and SSBB...

Those are exclusives... pure exclusives unplayable on any other consoles.

Also, after seeing some clips of Suda51 No More Heroes, I only got to say... WHO CARES ABOUT PC GRAPHICS ON CONSOLES!!!!!!!!!!???????

n.b. : I got a high end pc so I will not miss much... maybe except Too Human... only game I see for now...

Bioshock is a good looking game, but it is not what PC can really handle. In one month Crysis will all be what peoples are talking about... 25 september... I will run tame that beast... (demo and bench)

Please don't talk fan boy.. Halo when released for the computer was considered one of the worse optemized games out there and it could be ran on video cards generations old (ala Radeion 9800 Pro/ Nvidia FX 5900's). The Wii could most definitly run Halo.

[QUOTE="PannicAtack"][QUOTE="Sonic_on_crack"][QUOTE="PannicAtack"]

Two things:

>_>

jhcho2

The Wii cant even run Unreal engine 3 and you expect it to run Bioshock

Did you even read my post? >_>

Sad to say dude, but he is right. Did you even know that Bioshock was using Unreal Engine 3? You sound like you didn't. Or are you saying that having the capability to run an engine a game is built on is not a prerequisite for playing the game? If so, then we are all happy, even the Wii can run Crysis despite being incapable of running CryEngine 2. Solid theory huh?

did you read the original post?

a game like bioshock? sure why not. it's not like there haven't been games like bioshock in the past. (system shock, Deus ex)

sure it won't look as good as bioshock but if they made a game like it from the ground up for the wii then it's clearly possible to make one like bioshock.

The Wii has its advantages and its (major) disadvantages

on the side of the disadvantages is the fact that it will never have the level of graphical realism or physics found in top 360/pc/ps3 games such as Bioshock

and in the case of Bioshock the immersive world is a key selling point and with reduced graphics and physics it would not do well in this regard and it would lose much of what makes Bioshock so great

the Wii couldnt run Bioshock on low settingsSonic_on_crack

saying that the wii couldn't run bioshock on 1x2 resolution(yes that's right, 1 pixel by 2 pixels) is an understatement.

but anyway, i liked metroid prime over bioshock, but i agree the wii could never do something as immersive as bioshock.

Metroid Prime trilogy actually got a way better and more complicated story than Bioshock...

I knew the whole plot really early in the game (Bioshock)... all been done before...

Baten Kaitos and Tales of Symphonia were having a similar character involvement.

[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"]If a developer such as Irrational decides to make a game like BioShock on the Wii, they will. There is nothing stopping them from doing so.afmsquid

Of course they can make BioShock on the Wii, with massive downgrades, maybe they can make a BioShock Tactics or something to keep the sheep happy.

Doesn't take much to keep sheep happy. Umbrella Chronicles anyone?

I can see it now, Bioshock: Chrystal Chronicles.
