[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"]If a developer such as Irrational decides to make a game like BioShock on the Wii, they will. There is nothing stopping them from doing so.Bread_or_Decide

Of course they can make BioShock on the Wii, with massive downgrades, maybe they can make a BioShock Tactics or something to keep the sheep happy.

Doesn't take much to keep sheep happy. Umbrella Chronicles anyone?

I can see it now, Bioshock: Chrystal Chronicles.

UC looks great. As for Bioshock, sincerely, graphically... it's not so awesome except for water and light effects. The character models look like Far Cry plastic. The whole game got a huge plastic feeling. The visuals will be overcome in 2 weeks with Crysis demo.

i mean bioshock, bioshock u know the fps, not "sonic+megawoman" treoid prime 3...something with a cool story

Metroid Prime has a cool story. :|

ehh the 3rd one is kinda meh

but bioshock's story is stupid too

no it isn't :|

yeah. what's the story in metroid prime? space pirates attack YET AGAIN, and you have to fix some random computers?

and bioshock you somehow go to this underwater city and you have to survive?

they work, i'm just saying they don't have amazing stories like final fantasy 7, halo, metal gear solid, etc.

The whole background is on heavy... heavy... HEAVY text scrolls, you read about 60 pages of novel per game if not more... The story is easily on par with some of the best RPG's... that's the funny point.

Regardless if developers even try with blood, tears and sweat just making Bioshock for Wii..........NOBODY (a majority) will even consider looking (let alone buy) at how abyssmally disgusting Bioshock Wii would look like.

  1. They either must be hardcore desperate sheep to even consider buying Bioshock Wii.
  2. They're on Crack
  3. They're Blind
  4. They're on Stupid

That's like saying: GTA4 will be on Wii.....as well as on PS3, 360 and PC. Who in God's name, considering the BETTER hardwares involve, would even buy the Wii version?

Sheep? I bet they will

Just face it. The Wii sucks. Nintendo's SOLE INTENTION is to bring non-casual gaming to the masses. With ONLY limiting the amount of core games (good graphics or not) available for Wii. ;)

I don't even own Bioshock and I know the story better than you do :|

And you beat a 20 hour game at a friends house? :?

sometimes i wonder if people just started playing games last week. bioshock is a great game. i mean GREAT game. but there are other games even last gen that were more atmospheric and better! with worse graphics that are still a blast to play. get eternal darkness for the cube (originaly an n 64 game) or systemshock 2 for the pc. both of these games were better than bioshock IMO and probably in the opinoin of many others that have played them.

could there be a game like bioshock on the wii? easily! would it look the same when it came to graphics. no, they would have to rely on artsyle over processing power.

also the AI and physics in bioshock is not impressive at all. in fact it is the least impressive thing about he whole game. every item you pick up with telikinisis has the same exact wieght when thrown. try it. stand in one of he larger rooms and throw a bottle of wine and then throw a big daddy. they react the exact same way. the water on anything not running on direct x9 which is what most people here have played it on does not move as well as the liquid in prime 3 for crying out loud. it is totally sprite based splashes while in prime 3 when you go into liquid it actaully moves. one of the few things graphically that actaully impressed me about prime 3. i even too a screen shot of it!

the game is great! but it is not so amazing that it wont be out did before the end of the year even.

Two things:

1. Bioshock is essentially a new version of System Shock 2. The Wii could easily have games like that, if the developers tried. The technical aspects are not the impressive thing about Bioshock. I'd say harping on technical aspects is doing a disservice to the game. It's about making choices and customization, like an RPG. I see no reason the Wii couldn't do that.

2. Metroid Prime 3 is absolutely nothing like Bioshock.

>_>

jhcho2

The Wii cant even run Unreal engine 3 and you expect it to run Bioshock

Did you even read my post? >_>

Sad to say dude, but he is right. Did you even know that Bioshock was using Unreal Engine 3? You sound like you didn't. Or are you saying that having the capability to run an engine a game is built on is not a prerequisite for playing the game? If so, then we are all happy, even the Wii can run Crysis despite being incapable of running CryEngine 2. Solid theory huh?

...

You two are completely missing my point. I'll explain it in simpler terms.

The PS2 was able to run Deus Ex. Deus Ex is a game like Bioshock. Therefore, if the PS2 can run games like Bioshock, then the Wii could, too. >_>

Everyone is completely missing the point. This topic was not about porting Bioshock to the Wii. This is about having games like Bioshock on the Wii. Games like System Shock and Deus Ex.

The two people who quoted me misconstrued my argument and employed the Strawman Fallacy. I did not say that "Bioshock could be done on the Wii in technical aspects," I said that games like Bioshock could be done on the Wii. Deus Ex running on the PS2 is proof of that. Everyone is talking "oh the technical aspects." Anybody who says that is completely missing the thing that makes Bioshock a great game.

It cannot run the engine, therefore cannot run the game. Period. >_>

Actually, BioShock really isn't spectacular graphically at all in terms of technical accomplishments. Its got the detail and artstyIe. That's what makes it a good looking game. Heck, Prime 3 has better and actually 3Dfluid effects in some parts. All the water effects I came across in BioShock were completely flat and two dimensional.

And yes, Crysis is going to destryo everything in terms of visuals.

And another thing:

What the hell?

The developers in Bioshock put effort into making a cohesive world with an intricate story, character and weapon customization, survival horror elements, and moral considerations...

And all you can think about are the freakin' graphics?

It's too much for the white gamecube to handle. Think of all the things that make Bioshock truly next gen: physics, AI, atmosphere.

You would pretty much get none of those with a Wii version.

dracula_16

eh? AI and atmosphere are completely dependent on the devs. >_> Physics wouldn't quite be as cutting-edge, but it's not like a game rivaling bioshock is impossible.

Question: is there any real reason why games like this

and this

cannot be developed on the Wii?

>_>
