Will Gears 2 save the X360 from a mediocre '08?

The 360 hasn't had a mediocre '08.

With Gears and Fable coming out in the next month or so, it's also likely to get two AAA's back to back for the cherry on the top of a good year.

Ya it really hasnt, people are only freking over ps3 right now because there 2 biggest games have already came out and did well, which is great, but once fable 2 and gears 2 come out, itll be equal.

I know PS 3 is a good system, and it's a very good time to own one, but besides LBP, there isn't a game, according to Gaming critics, that is of higher quality than, for example, Gears of War, that can't be played on their own console... I wouldnt say the 360 has had a fantastic year. It was a decent year, but I dont think it was fantastic by any stretch. Although, the next two months will be fantastic no doubt.

No, the LBP "flop" was desperation. This just boils down to gaming preference.

If you look at it from a multiplat view both have had a good year. If you look at it from a SW/exclusive point of view MGS4/LBP leans it toward PS3. BUT HAY! there are still more games this year so we will see.

It has for me. I buy most multiplats for 360, so my PS3 has had quite a lonely year. MGS4 was a disappointment, so the only winner for PS3 is really LBP. Then again, I'm only really excited for Banjo on 360, but like I said, I get most of my multiplats for it.

Well, I can understand that. It's kinda the opposite for me, although lately I've been buying quite a few 360 titles. And we completely, totally disagree on MGS4... lol.

I guess I could call Gamestop and ask that about any game, including Halo 3. You know how many copies they have of games like GTAIV, Halo 3, etc? Huge sellers usually do get alot of space on the used shelves, but it doesnt speak about the quality of the game.

Well, I know for a fact that my local Gamestop has had a lot of copies of MGS4 traded in since it launched. My friend manages the store and we talk gaming a lot.

Well, the PS3 did have a handful of "good" titles like Hot Shots Golf, GT5P, and MLB: The Show prior to MGS4... not to mention all the multiplats that both systems share. Nothing to brag about on the PS3 side, but if the PS3 had a horrible year prior to MGS4 then that must mean the 360 has had a horrible year... all the way up to Fable 2?

360 has been anything but average. Gears 2, Fable 2 and L4D make the 360's lineup better than ps3's. There's been a few flops and cows tend to focus on them but overall the year has been great for the 360 and will get even better the next 2 months

Well, that's to be expected. Like I said, there are tons and tons of GTAIV's sitting on the shelves in both the PS3 and 360 sections, and it doesnt speak about the quality of the game. It just means alot of people bought the game, and alot of those people will end up trading 'em in.

Not to mention, MGO was terrible, so the replay value on the game depended on how much one loved the campaign enough to go back and replay for all the extra goodies and what not.
