No, it won't. The simple fact that motion controls are used means that it is going to fail in terms of epicness. The motion controls are a poor gimmick and, unfortunately, any game that uses them is just as gimmicky. If they made it so we could use a gamecube controller, then it is possible.

For that to happen, it would have to be more epic than Shadow of the Colossus....and nothing is more epic than Shadow of the Colossus.

I would not compare a linear simplistic action title (that is great at that though), with one of the best games ever created

That's not possible, GoW is the definition of Epic just like the 360 is the definition of weaksauce.

Nothing is known about the game except that it's confirmed. But the God of War series pretty much defines epic, so I doubt it. It has cinematic storytelling a (very good) fixed camera, and a large fixation on action rather than puzzling and finding your way. Zelda is pretty much the opposite as it's more modest in terms of presentation (although they did go all the way with TP), and the combat has always been under the puzzling in terms of importance.

Still, this doesn't say much about which game is actually going to be better.

If by epic, you mean will it have quicktime events and a stupid conclusion to the story, then I hope not.

If Nintendo is taking tips from GoW3 for their next Zelda game then the next Zelda is going to suck ass.

mey...God of War aint so bad, most reviews are good. SEEMs to the be the King right now in the Action-Adventure genre. Is it not safe to say that God of War 3 is the game to beat?

Is that what they have been doing over there on a normal basis? I have no issue with Zelda not being rescued. Are Zelda games really that predictable? Even the GOW devs have said themselves that the Zelda devs kinda give them kudos for the GOW series....so they do have some sort of interest. Hey I am as old school as they come, but changes are always welcome in my book. So maybe something else other than saving Princess Zelda would be better this time around?

Epic for me is the WOW factor. The "I can't believe what I just saw" feeling, basically blown away. I used the term"Epic" because that is what majority of the reviewers are using online. Its not a regular word in my vocab....when I hear epicI think new Micheal Jackson video or something lol. Based on what I have read and seeing ashow this topic is going manypeople do like the God of War series, many of the retro gamers seem to really dislike it. So its like a new gamer vs old school gamer war going on. When I first started reading about (and still reading) I thought the Kratos vs Link/God of War vs Legend of Zeldachat was like the new Sonic vs Mario debates from the 90s.....but those debates were from the same age group of gamers...this debate seems different. Epic seems like a new school word of describingwhat is really good & has mass appeal. What word would you have used for todays average gamer?

The trouble with zelda is, it is such a sacred cow. As soon as Nintendo even hinted that it was in development, people were proclaiming it as the best game of this year. If it fails, people will be too proud to admit it and threads like this show people are assuming it will be awesome even though there has not even been a screenshot. I liked the first I played on the SNES but I played Wind Waker and never have I seen a more overrated game, and it has been reported that this place went in to meltdown when the wii version "only" got a 8.8 on GS.

We know almost nothing of this game save a few vague statements and it could turn out to be a watered down for the casuals flop, it might turn out to be great, but at the end of the day we should wait and see and stop presuming it will be great. It could turn out to be a worthy 8.5, a game well worth having but not groundbreaking, but people wont be able to accept that because of the largely unwarranted hype.

GOW3 has a different type of Epic. Zelda is kind of like a small fish in a big pond, taking on the biggest fish in the pond, while GOW is more like you just killings stuff 100x your size with extreme brutality :P

I bet anything it won't be half of what Darksiders is...yet since it is a major brandname (Zelda, Metroit, Nintendo) it will be hailed as the best game EVAR! Fools! Majora's Mask was perfection!

Nintendo has said that it's gonna be a franchise defining title, it's not another Mario Sunshine or Wind Waker. That this game is gonna be a revolution and not an evolution is clear, beacuse they will use WM+ and IR centric puzzles, which opens up a huge potential of great gameplay.

They have also said that it's gonna get mainstreamed, in the likes of SM64 -> SMG. This is the ONLY party of Zelda Wii, that could possibly not live up to the hype, making it a 9.5'er. I strongly believe though that it's gonna get, at least lots of 10's here and there, and maybe even 10 on Gamespot. It will surpass TP, which is sitting at a 95-96% on metacritic.

Nintendo means what they say, 95% of the time *looks at Wii Music*. It's highly probable that it's gonna be epic, though I'm pretty sure that a *certain* type of Zelda fan is gonna get not only disappointed, but pissed of, because of 2 things: The motion / IR things (it's gonna be heavily focused on these) and because of the mainstreaming, it is going to hold your hand even more than TP, maybe linear in the sense of DS Zeldas, where the areas are like levels and not connected like a full world

So yeah, I predict a high metascore for this one, and 9.5 at least on GS, based on assumptions and quotes :D
