How can you say that when you've only played one Zelda game? Zelda Windwaker was one of the weakest Zeldas, IMO. You should at least try Zelda A link to the past and OoT before making a judgement on the franchise. Well thats not fair to judge the franchise on those two either since they are miles better than any of the others. OOT and LttP are really good while windwaker and twilight princess were not very good at all. Overall its an average franchise, with a couple games that are waaay above average Lolno. OoT, MM and WW are all fantastic, while Twilight Princess is mediocre. Then you have the 2D games which, from the ones I've played, are all fantastic aswell.[QUOTE="ForsakenWicked"][QUOTE="RTUUMM"]LOL @ Zelda, why do people see The Legend of Zelda as the second coming of Jesus? I dont see wats so good about Zelda, the only Zelda game I've played was the one for the GC and I thought it was pretty lame.brennan7777
It's far from an 'average' franchise, if you weigh up the quality of every game.
See they really are very different games Gow is about 8 hours of epic. If it was 30 + hours with towns and stuff like zelda games it would not have been as epic. Very different games.
Well, duh. Zelda is always more epic than God of War, simply because of the sheer scope and expansiveness of the gameplay.charizard1605
Put the bomb on the crack in the wall, hold the L trigger and spam A when you see monsters, throw the boomerang at the stuff you cant reach, yea that really brings home the OHHHH and AWWWWW epic factor for me. And since a sheep mentioned that nintendo has said they are going to use the motion controls for puzzles, now the game is immediately insta fail. No thanks to being forced to wave my arms around like an idiot getting all frustrated at it when all I want to do is play a video game.

God of War: mash square or triangle when you see enemies and hold L2 to move statues and blocks. Don't worry, if you forget which button to press to move that statue, the game will usually remind you by displaying the button at the bottom.
See, I can do that too? Don't get me wrong, I love GoW, but don't even begin implying that Zelda's gameplay is mindless when you're trying to defend God of War.
DarugenCP:In fairness, you did GoW more justice than chrion133 did Zelda. He shows that he completely misses the point of the gameplay by focusing on things in Zelda that are ultimately of superficial importance. Once you know what to do in Zelda, there really isn't much else to it. He apparently doesn't get that.roxlimn
Maybe that's because I have actually played God of War for more than 10 minutes. :P
Now I love my Zelda games as much as the next guy, but I think we can all agree that the Zelda games usually don't have too much special going on with the story. Its hard to be really epic without a great story to follow. I'm not saying GoW3 is better. Just saying in general.
To be completely honest and blunt...
I didn't see a single thing about the new Zelda game that would make me think it is going to be more "epic" than God of War 3.
It just looked like any other 3D Zelda game with a slightly different look and some more motion controls tacked on.
Now that doesn't mean it's going to be crap, it might be more "fun" for all I know, but I really don't see it competing in terms of sheer "epicness" with a game like God of War 3 personally.
Words can't describe how amazing Skyward Sword looks. It's going to be the best Zelda game ever made. I'm hyping this more than I hyped Twilight Princess. Ten times more. I cannot wait. GOTY 2011 confirmed.princeofshapeir
Best one ever made huh? It woul be nice if they woul get some voice acting in the game & orchestra music. They also pushed the date back like some others have mentioned. One another note I think the God of War series could learn a few things from Legend of zelda & visa versa. No sense of exploration in God of War.
There was nothing "epic" about god of war 3 other than a few of the boss fights. The entire game is spent walking through bland linear corridors.
Stringerboy
Bland? I must admit I am not a fan of linear gameplay, and hopefully Sony can get that fixed for the next one. But to say the levels are bland is a bit much dont you think?
"tacked on motion controls"? Really? You can call TP Wii that, but SS blends Wii Motion Plus and Zelda to make realistic, hands-on swordplay possible. It's like Wii Sports Resort swordplay, only you're moving around in a 3D plane, which is an absolutely fantastic thing. I'd really recommend you check out some more gameplay demos. The one Miyamoto did on stage is going to be inaccurate because they're not facing the screen and they have to point at the motion senser while their back is from the screen and it will of course look clumsy. I think there is some footage of IGN trying it out, and it looks really good.To be completely honest and blunt...

Considering like the biggest thing GOW has going for it presentation wise is trying to be epic, prob not in terms of in your face epic. Zelda can be epic but not in the badass ass GOW tries for. So the answer is sure but not in the same way GOW does it.
ActicEdge
Pretty much.
I have a feeling this Zelda will have heavy focus on the narrative with 'GOW esque' moments. What i mean by that is specifically tailored gameplay segments for areas, never to appear again (on top of the usual Zelda gameplay). Sort of like TP and the sky temple boss and lakebed boss. Just a huinch
