Will PS 4 sales suffer greatly if Uncharted 4 gets mediocre review like UC 3 or Golden Abyss?

Uncharted : Golden Abyss didn't go great for PS VITA as launch game. Uncharted 3 didn't do wonders for PS 3 either. Will PS 4 sales suffer greatly if Uncharted 4 gets mediocre review like UC 3 or Golden Abyss? Worried as Uncharted 4 Hype is Very High amongst gamers currently ( Many expecting GOTY like UC 2 or just 9.0 + score everywhere).

Nah, Uncharted is Sony's biggest franchise, but it does not define the fate of their hardware. The PS4 has been selling fine so far without Uncharted or any other system sellers (even as major exclusives have continued to be delayed or gotten middling reviews). A bad Uncharted 4 will not change that.

Also, while fan reception to Uncharted 3 is mixed, it hardly got mediocre reviews- it's a 92 on Metacritic, and most sites rated it a 9 or higher.

Besides, Uncharted is revered enough that even if it did suck, dick riding reviewers aren't giving it a poor score. 3 is proof of that.

Also to date, Golden Abyss is the only Vita game to crack a million copies.

Pretty sure Minecraft has done that too now, actually, but yeah, Uncharted is a) one of only two games to do so, and b) Minecraft sales are entirely digital, except for voucher codes sold at retail (which are still counted as digital), so yeah, Golden Abyss is the only retail title to achieve the milestone regardless.

I think the PS4 has proven it will sell well no matter what game is or isn't out.

No, low scores from Uncharted won't cripple PS4 sales. The console has been standing on it's feet for two years without it.

Many of us didn't enjoy UC 3 as much as UC 1 and UC 2, seemed rushed of a game, short single player with absolutely no bonuses ( Costumes, Extras ) which were popular in UC 1 and UC 2. Its not a bad game i'm saying, just not great as previous games :)

I was comparing UC 3 scoring compared to UC 2 score on GS and MC. Sorry, for the misunderstanding :)

@indzman: weird from what I seen most people didn't think much of uncharted 1, love the second one and the third one was mixed.

I personally didn't think much of the first one, the second one is probably one of the greatest game of all time and I loved the third one quite a bit.

Ahhh! Personally i was greatly dissapointed with UC 3 lol. I do understand its personal reference and many enjoyed 3 over 1. I enjouyed UC 1 and 2 most Heh.

Why would it? PS4 is the new chav/bro gamer console..... all the kiddies and casuals flocking to the device, not because of its only REALLY good game bloodborne... but for CoD .... for Fifa .... for Madden .....

Uncharted 3 has a 91 metascore and is the highest selling of the trilogy. Not sure why are you even mentioning a Vita game made by a different studio.

Uncharted 3 was a mediocre game. Beat Drake's Fortune and Among Thieves in succession but Drake's Deception was incredibly boring. I stopped after about 3 hours.

It also didn't get mediocre reviews so I don't know what you're on about.

BUT you do agree many think of UC 3 not great as UC 2 while a step backwards right as in rushed? Its just not me you know, many were dissapointed with UC 3 :)

Let me start this by saying that I'm not a huge fan of the Uncharted series and have no hype for Uncharted 4 and bargain binned the rest of the series.

Okay, now that that is out of the way, Uncharted 3 is sitting at 92 on Metacritic, so it wasn't mediocre. Golden Abyss is sitting at an 80, which I still don't consider as mediocre.

Uncharted 4 will sell on it's graphics and the merit of the first 3 main series games alone.

I think the PS4 will continue to sell well regardless of how Uncharted 4 sells. It is the more appealing console to the masses and it doesn't seem to be changing.

I don't recall uncharted 3 getting mediocre reviews. I know some of the experts here on this board think they're opinion means objective fact but it doesn't.

Well who knows, maybe a lot of these console purchases have been attributed to future games, and if these future games fail to deliver? I mean anything is possible.

No, the ps4 is already killing it in sales without uncharted so i doubt it will make any difference

The Uncharted games proven themselves as a hit or miss, hot or cold, success or failure type of games. There's no consistency so that's why it's considered a mediocre type of game or franchise. It's not an iconic franchise. Uncharted 4 is a toss up and could go either way. I read they're introducing dialogue choices (which doesn't even affect the story at all), dialogue choices like what is found in The Odor 1886, so this can really change the tempo of this adventure game. But regardless of how good or how bad Uncharted 4 will be, I don't think it'll affect the PS4. I think instead PSVR and how hard Sony will try to market this thing could ultimately be a huge factor in the PS4's decline. With so much marketing and resources put in PSVR, it could hurt the motivation and push to develop more big budget games like Uncharted 4 in their future.

how the hell 92 score at metacritic is mediocre ? And we talking about 97 reviews in total not 20 or so. A mediocre game is something between a 60ish to 70ish more or less
