Buying a console isn't really an upgrade when its still outdated in terms PC tech
I do not even understand what it actually is about gaming you enjoy. Other then using your rig as a penis substitute that is.
I play a crap load of games dude

Then talk about the great games and the MP on PC or something. Because, power just does not cut it anymore. It takes a long time and a lot of money to even max out today's consoles, much less any hardware of the near future.
But talking about power, or how grid can have an additional few hundred lines of resolution on the PC, or a higher frame rate, is tiresome.
For example, I do not care. I prefer racing games on my consoles. I guess I am just a casual gamer killing gaming by enjoying, and even in a lot of cases preferring, console games.

Gears 2
[QUOTE="DemonizedMetal"][QUOTE="Painballz"][QUOTE="DemonizedMetal"]MS and Sony have shown numerous times that they're not afraid of losing money on their consoles. Besides: Last time I checked 360 and PS3 we're both pretty damn powerfull when they were released. They still are actually, 3 cores still aren't mainstream in the PC market, not to mention 8... Graphics cards might be outdated, but they still play GRID really well, which can't be said of how it runs on similar PC Graphics cards.Painballz
Dude, GRID runs good on ALL 7/8 Series maxed out, in a res, not available on consoles ....HD

Read through, people talk about performance on a variety of cards
Just read about every page in that thread but I didn't see anyone posting about the performance of a 7-series card. It's all people with 8800's and 9800's, which are pretty bad-ass cards. Could be just me though, but it doesn't run well on my second pc which has a 7600. All pretty off-subject though.
you probably cant even run crysis on ur pc to look as good as those pics u posted...and even if you tweak a few things, your pc will still strugle to run crysis......or become a slide-showgohan2710
Nope, I definitely run it at 40-50fps on high-very high with my rig

I would hope so considering the parts of your rig you have listed in your sig cost around $1300. (priced on newegg) That's not including your monitor.
TC go over to Anandtech.com and see the article about quad SLI using two Nvidia 9800GX2's trying to run Crysis on Very High settings. This is taken from the site.
-This indicates that the higher the graphical quality, the MORE CPU bound we are. Crazy isn't it? It's counter-intuitive, but pure fact. In speaking with NVIDIA about this (they have helped us a lot in understanding some of our issues here), the belief is that more accurate and higher quality physics at higher graphical quality settings is what causes this overhead. Also, keep in mind that we are testing in a timedemo with AI disabled. -
So until INTEL invents a better CPU you PC gamers aren't going to be running Crysis on Ultra Settings anytime soon.

Like a 2000X- resolution? A bit extreme.
At least we get to play Crysis.

This is the reason Crysis only has small huts you can destroy and not big buildings like in Bad Company. Anyway tell me the day you can play Crysis on very high settings at 1080p, physics set on Maxium, and 4XAA, AF16. I am going to get a new PC sometime next month so I can finally play Crysis. I think a 9800GX2 can play it on high settings using no AA. :D

PS3_3DO
You can destroy whole apartment buildings :|
Hooray for player made levels.
My Computer runs Crysis on high, 1240X1024 (>720p) 0Xaa, at 40 frames a second average :|
Bad Companys destructibility is pre determined hit points.
Like ye olde Red Faction.
Exactly how is that good?
Tell me when console games reach the technical complexity of PC titles at a similar period, and begin to make the resolution of 720p at least standard - because 600p and 640p games with the technical complexity of a cheeseburger are 'next gen'.
Of course playing Crysis at extreme settings is nigh impossible, however its many years ahead of anything current consoles will achieve.
No. A console released 20 years from now still wouldn't be able to.Sooshy
Are you serious? Twenty years from now is about 4 or 5 gens of consoles. You wouldn't be able to tell the difference between games and reality.
Yes, no question, considering thats at least three years out, and technology wise, advancement moves very very quickly
the Wii2 won't though, Nintendo seems to be going the opposite direction, I look foward to the SNES based Wii2
hahaha! of course it will, wtf? :P
i mean the ps3 is close now if they could only learn the technology, why the **** make a PS4 if it cant even run crysis?

Crysis has the best physics 2.
Well think about this. Can a PS3 or 360 run Doom 3, which was the most graphically intense game to come out at the time of the last gen consoles, at 1080p with the highest AA and AF? Crysis is like Doom 3, if not more so, so it will still stress out consoles even in 2010. I'm not really sure if they'll be able to run crysis with all filtering and anti aliasing at 1080p. Maybe.
Edit: actually I just read at 60fps. I think you'd have to be pretty hopeful for that to happen.
Most pcs cant even Max it out with 60 fps yet.ILikeCatFoodMan
[QUOTE="ILikeCatFoodMan"]Most pcs cant even Max it out with 60 fps yet.MojondeVACA
I dont think people know what Crysis is like on 'very high maxed out 60fps'.
We are talking a 1080p resolution, with full AA and AF, let alone very high settings.
At 60 frames a second.
If you seriously think the next breed of consoles could do that - honestly - a jump from the current console standard would have to be the biggest technological jump in ages. Let alone the hardware price would be so massive the PS3s launch price would have looked liek a bargain.

GTA IVs is nice, but knowhere at the level of Crysis's
Besides games like Cell Factor even amazing physics, problem is the game wasent much.

And cheapest games, and any method of control they feel like. And mods, and customizability. And free online communities etc.
Don't forget Indie games.

I played Crysis and I loved the tree physics but other than that the game was somewhat linear and extremely linear at the end of the game
