Resident Evil 4 was an amazing game.

All versions (apart from the dreaded PC version) scored above 9.

And Resident Evil 5 seems similar with the same over the shoulder view.

Now I haven't played Resident Evil 5 but Resident Evil 4 has got an eriness to at as it's set in a remote european village.

But I'm worried that Resident Evil 5 won't have this, solely because it's set during the day (for the most part I think).

And I don't know enough about the game as I haven't played the demo.

But does anyone else think that Resident Evil 5 may not be able to live up to Resident Evil 4?

Because Resi 4 was a pretty danm sweet game.

So what are your thoughts?

RE4 was a sequel to RE0, RE3 or RE CVX or REmake..(traditional RE) and it totally revolutionized the series.,, wont happen to RE5

Although it won't be a shock like RE4 was, I'm sure it could be pretty great and shocking with the desert setting and the size of town you're playing in.

RE4 had a huge impact on not only the series but the wider gaming community. It was quite influential, as it was a surprise ... the series hadn't shown anything astonishing like that before. RE5 will not have that sort of effect, unless something drastic happens. That's not saying RE5 will be a god game, possibly even better than RE4, but people are now expecting something that great, and there will be no surprise if it is so

You might have to babysit the new girl in this game, even if she's there to help you out. Still that might not be such a bad thing... :P

That's something I'm worried about. People are expecting so much from Resi 5 as Resi 4 was so good but as the gameplay will be similar, I'm worried that some people are going to be dissapointed.

Sigh What did RE2 do new from RE1...? RE4 was 1 game out of the series to make a major change, did you expect the next one to do the same? lol...what game does that. Look at Halo 3...it still the same game. Why would RE5 change from a winning formula? and when did RE4 have a buddy/co-op system like RE5, with all those melee combos, talk button (give orders) and share and ask for items, in the same fashion. wait and see so far judging from the demo, it does do something new to the series.

Downloaded the demo using my Japanese account, i think it was around 3 weeks ago.

On my first play i felt it was so so, after a few more attempts it was astoundingly good.

More of the same, pretty much - but what could possibly be wrong with that?

I just hate the new Hud, looks ugly. And...i had fun organizing all mah weapons with the attache case:cry: But yeh, judging from the demo it'll be just as good. I just wish the environments looked nicer.

I think it's impossible to blow gamers away as much as RE4 did as the game was so different to the other games. However I still think it'll blow us away quite a bit :P

Well Halo 3 was actually different then its previous game and IMPROVED on the games formula. RE5 felt like a new coat of paint with tweaked moves an new setting to me. But atleast the graphics are nice.

I dont think so. Is RES4 (gameplay wise) with much better graphics -It brings nothing new to the table, over the shoulder view is not as new and cool as it was before - for the videos shown, it looks hard to shoot and the movent is way to slow

You mean since they added Co Op to a traditionally single player experience it means its an entire new game :? I rather they focused on a good single played experience instead of tacking on some Buddy buddy system were you have to look over your shoulder every minute to make sure your partner A.I or human isnt getting killed or hurt over and over. But thats just me.

I've played through the demo many, many, times, by myself, and cooperatively, and, based on what I've seen and played, Resident Evil 5 is going to be an absolutely fantastic game.

You guys have problems...

RE1, 2, 3, and 0 were ALL the SAME. Now because 5 will be similar to 4 everyone is saying "buh buh buh its da sayme animationz!!11!1oneshift+1"

GET OVER IT!

You just can't please all these people with their twisted logic. Everyone gets mad when Banjo changed into what it is today, yet everyone is complaining because 5 is similar to 4 (which is one of the greatest games of all-time!). Does that make any lick of sense? But then trash like Halo and Gears of War stays the same, no one cares. :|

*exhales*

And to answer the question, yes 5 will live up to 4 just how 2 lived up to 1.

That is all.

in all honestly I think it will, keeping the core gameplay while adding a deeper story and and new horror elements(watch the trailers) will be a winning combination

I doubt it. Resident Evil 4 was fresh and I liked its new approach but Resident Evil 5 feels more like a survival-action game than a survival horror game which I liked about the previous games. Now I'm only basing that off the demo and hopefully the full version will surprise. Even Resident Evil 4 had some creepy moments but with the coop in Resident Evil 5 I doubt I will get that feeling. I'm hoping that coop is just a feature and not thrown in to most of the game. The demo was way too easy with Sheva.

Yes, I think it will live up to the greatness of RE4, but NO, I don't think it will wow me as much as RE4 did. RE4 did something completely different with the franchise, where as, RE5 will not.

I know, you need to be able to run backwards. I was playing the demo and it was annoying that I couldn't run backwards, only walk slowly.

From what I have played in the demo, they make up for this by putting in more enemies on screen at once compared to the first one, they are also able to take more hits from bullets it seems.

I think theres a good chance it will live up to the brilliance of RE4, or even surpass it. They're evolving the gameplay that was introduced in RE4. And while I might be in the minority, I think the setting is good, it's a nice change, and I think it could still be as creepy as the previous games.

RE5 is slowly disappointing everyone more and more. just go listen to the last podcast from 1up (they had people from giantbomb.com and electric playground all on their last episode) and they all pretty much agree that after the recent capcom event, they feel like they need to dub the game Resident Evil 4.5 and that the dev's are being way too stubborn. They could have learned a thing or two from MGS4 and westernized it a bit more. They kept saying that when people were playing it they were reminded of Dead Space and how they enjoyed the controls much more in that game.

RE5 looks great, but unfortunately it's not going to be at all scary. For RE6, I think Capcom needs to give the franchise another reinvention and try to make it scary again. Taking a cue from Dead Space would be a good start.

it will be better most likely, but nowhere as revolutionary and as influential as RE4...

I downloaded the demo and I really disliked it -- way to similar for me -- though I'm sure many fans of RE4 will enjoy the game a lot, I just think critics wise it might get a lower score than expected, but still a good score.

I don't think it'll create the same "impact" that RE4 did to the gaming industry...I mean sure it's gonna be cool and everything (since it's the first in this gen), but it isn't gonna cause the same shock that the original did...stuff like gameplay involved in cinematics, or the amazing over-the-shoulder view.

IMO RE5 will kinda be like GeoW2, since there wasn't so much room for improvement, they'll just "add on" a few, cool, things.
