Im not sure how the resident evil movies fit into the Resident evil canon, but a game set in the Hive from the 1st movie would be awesome. Like you wake up right at the bottom, and have to make your way to the top and escape. Wandering around Umbrella laboratories and seeing all the experiments and stuff was always my favourite part of the resident evil games.Anjunaddict
The movie is non canonical to the video game series except for character names and ideas.

If they want it to be scary, they should play Amnesia, and learn to do that right. :P

Why do people talk about the old games like they were untouchable? The truth is that the gameplay was extremely dated even before the ps2 came out.

jasonharris48

That may be but they still provided a great survival horror feel unlike RE4 and especially RE5.

I actually thought 4 was a pretty good survival horror game. 5 wasn't in any sense. To make 4 even more survival orientated all they had to do was remove the random ammo drops, remove the upgrade system and make it so that fleeing was the obvious choice against minor enemies.

Was it just me who thought that first movie wasn't half bad? I thought the others were abysmal though.

RE Outbreak did Co-op right. Very hard mode was near impossible without a good team. That game really test your skills to survive.

You think Capcom would make a new one considering online gaming is getting popular on the consoles. The series had potential.

Let's not talk about the movies. I still havent forgiven Capcom for letting Paul Anderson put in a completely new mary sue-esque character and shove aside the main characters from the game.

Would have been waaaay better if they had just stuck with Romero

If it simple goes back to RE4's formula, improves the graphics, and refines the play it could be gold.

Yeah. That's pretty much what everyone said who I spoke to about it; particularly when nemesis had a fist fight with alice and it developed a concience in the second one. WTF was that about? I think by that point most people had switched off anyway but... damn that bit was cringe worthy.

The problem was they tried to appeal to the general public (i.e. not gamers) with the first movie. THEN they tried to appeal to the original fan base by incorporating ideas, plots and characters from games.

I never said all of us do it's why I said I. and In regards to the terrible story (even for a RE game) the poor implementation of CoOp (you really need two people to open a door ?) The clunky tank controls that they just borrowed from RE4, the inventory system, the tacked on milkage MP. RE5 wasnt fun for me in any way me and a friend played up to the volcano ending and had to stop because I couldn't take it anymore.

How about Zombies in space? But instead of being a cliche action hero, you're an engineer. And instead of headshots, you cut off the zombies limbs. Wait, I've got to write this down...

Wait there is a new Resident Evil coming? good news, all i care about is that it has the same co op stuff RE5 had so i can play with my friend again co oping till the end of the game :P. sure was fun

millerlight89

I think almost any fan of the actual RE series will agree that Co-op does not belong.

They better keep the co op. i seriously had a blast with the game because of the co op. played it from start to end with my friend. nothing was better than stealing his kills :P or spend hours for trophies

I think we should get new, vulnerable characters, a new setting, and the birth of a new plot reminiscent of the old one.

Frankly, I think they need to toss out everything: Unbrella, all the characters, the story, everything and start from scratch.

The whole thing has become to bloated. And Dead Space is clearly the big boy on the block now. They need some new ideas, and RE is WAY to attached to the ridiculous mythos of the old games.

I vote for a complete do over.

Dead space the big boy on the block? Barely no one even played the first game, and I doubt DS2 will sell overly great either. But saying thats better then an already established franchise is quite well interesting. RE needs to go back to its roots and it will do fine and sell way better then Ds1 and ds2 combined.\

I actually loved 5, but I do not want any more forced co-op. I also would prefer if they got back to the darker tone that RE4 had as well. The only other thing I would add is the ability to move while shooting. Do that, and it's all good for me.

Some of Resident Evil : Umbrella Chronicles is based in russia so thats where the series should go.. Kill off Zombies altogether and exchange them for Crimsons. Kill off Leon,Chris, Jill as these characters are used way to much and make either Hunk or the Crab Stick the main character. Kill off online as Co-Op is lame in resident Evil. Replace the non-stop lameness i mean action of resident evil 4/5 with some atmohsphere, puzzles and some awesome enemies rather than all those lousy ones in 4/5 as neither of those 2 games could hold a candle to the Psycho little girl in 1 remake nor William Birkin in number 2.

Im so sick of the hate on RE5, I personally loved the game. You want to make it better? give us more oh crap moments in the dark and dont have the hero walking around with enough amunition to take over a small country.

Yeah when it was your 1st resident evil game on the PS2 that you played im sure you'd be like "WOW" . The only critical acclaim that the 4 got was for the new camera angle and that was it. Nothing more, nothing less. Majority gamer reception... Please dont make stuff up.

Keiji Inafune is the only person left at Capcom I have any faith in. Mikami, Inaba, Kamiya, Yasuda, Okamoto, Fujiwara... all gone. After the garbage that was Resident Evil 5, I have no hope of 6 being any better.

Eh no, I don't want RE6 to be anything like Dead Space at all.

To make RE6 succeed, they need to merge what made RE1/2/CV great with what made RE4/5 great. So back to Racoon city please.

Anjunaddict

God would that not just be absolutely fantastic? I would love to have the game take place in Raccoon City I want the damn horror element back. 5 was not a bad game at all, but it was a joke trying to pass off as Resident Evil.

Yeah well I still want a new RE game to be set there. If RE6 has to take place in a time period after RE5 and when Racoon city is dead, then screw the number 6.

How about a RE rebooot... like they are doing with medal of honor.. but just call re6.... Resident Evil, and have it set in a mansion with tons of scares and puzzles and a new plot with new characters but give it an old school feeling and throw hints to the past here and there. I think that would be fantastic but they would never do that. JP devs seem to not relaize that the PS1 gen was the best for a reason.

Agreed... 1, 2 and 3 were the best, never played the spin offs as I didn't have a ps2 till 2009 (well after buying a ps3) and only re4 was on pc.

Yeah when it was your 1st resident evil game on the PS2 that you played im sure you'd be like "WOW" . The only critical acclaim that the 4 got was for the new camera angle and that was it. Nothing more, nothing less. Majority gamer reception... Please dont make stuff up.

Ah, spoken as if by someone who has absolutely no clue what they're talking about.

Replace the non-stop lameness i mean action of resident evil 4/5 with some atmohsphere, puzzles and some awesome enemies rather than all those lousy ones in 4/5 as neither of those 2 games could hold a candle to the Psycho little girl in 1 remake nor William Birkin in number 2.Dibdibdobdobo
Sounds great, but what RE1 remake? I didn't know there was one. I played RE1 back on the PS1, it was my first PlayStation game back in the mid-late 90's I remember i got my PS1 with the original Dual Shock controller in the box and RE1 directors cut - dual shock edition. It was great!!! Scared the crap out of me at times, and it was loaded with puzzles and atmosphere. I have since tried playing the PS1 RE games on the ps3 but they aren't the same. Silent hill PS1 game is still a blast though. I still enjoy the silent hill series 10000x more than re any day!

Eh no, I don't want RE6 to be anything like Dead Space at all.

To make RE6 succeed, they need to merge what made RE1/2/CV great with what made RE4/5 great. So back to Racoon city please.

Agreed. I actually liked the add-on of Desperate Escape better than how RE5 was. The mansion may have been a little played out, but they need to incorporate the more slow paced horror that we were used to in RE. I loved RE4, but I think RE Code Veronica was my favorite of all time!

Honestly, what they need to do is revive the Outbreak series instead of bringing this co-op play into the main series.

The main series was supposed to be survival horror. Even with 4 you were still stuck in there fending for yourself, granted they did manage to overpower you to a point where the horror part was lost.

Throwing in co-op really helped ruin 5 I think. It just became a complete action game which rocked for maybe two-weeks then just grew stale. I actually played 4 MUCH more than 5, just getting lost in the greatness that the game was replaying it over and over.

Instead of putting multi-player in the main series they NEED to keep it single player and make it scary again. RE was never about some great story or in-depth characters, it was about the horrifying atmosphere and the whole idea of being trapped in this situation ALONE. Yes there might have been other survivor characters but they weren't there fighting alongside you. The whole reason it was scary was because of how bad the odds were stacked against you. Every single enemy could be potential death if you didn't play it right.

What they can do instead of ruining the main series with multi-player is revive the Outbreak series. In this gen where online gaming is absolutely dominate, a multi-player focused RE like Outbreak would sell like freaking hot cakes. I personally loved both Outbreak games, but they really did seem to come too soon. I mean there was no voice chat and the PS2 online set-up just plain sucked.

Now that we have XBL and PSN at the levels they are now a new Outbreak game could be amazing. Of course they need to go and re-do the series with the new gameplay, but the effort would be worth it. It would make for a great game and I hate the idea that this will likely never happen. After all, this is the same company that let the Dino Crisis series rot after ONE bad entry....

Capcom has been in a slump since they canned Clover Studios and their senior staff responsible for their most well known franchises left, it's shown the last few years, however this bad luck can't persist, hopefully RE6 will be a lot better than RE5, at least Capcom listened to players as far as adding strafe and right analog aiming and camera control, though leaving out running an gunning I think hurt them, if they add running and gunning into the next game, give us more ammo, throw a lot more bad guys at you, add blood and dismemberment like the old RE games or Dead Rising, then this can be a bloody hell of a good game bring back the gore is what I say, in the old RE games if you blast someone in the head at point blank range they lost their head, or if you blasted their knees with the shotgun they'd lose their legs, in RE5 if you shot someone in the face they do a backflip and dissolve (stupid), the only time they lose their head is when that other thing comes out in its place anyhow, yeah, add run and gun, more ammo, throw more zombies at you to an overwhelming amount (actual zombies not those stupid body snatchers), co-op again, it could be good

Although I prefer RE4 and some of the older REs over RE5, I thoroughly enjoyed RE5. If RE6 is on of the same quality as RE5, I'd buy it.

That would be the Remake of number 1. 4 was fun but not even worth mentioning in comparison to #1.

Gamers wanted RE to be better.

RE4 changed survival horror and TPS.
