FYI...gaming does not exist in a vacuum. I'm not talking about just the gamers of today. I'm talking overall. And Crash certainly has name recognition.
And Sonic is better known than anything MS has on it's consoles.
True but Sonic to this day still has gaming and other materials (toys, movies, tv shows, etc) coming out, Crash not so much. Most of the older games probably know it, but the generation that started gaming on PS2 / Xbox / Gamecube / Dreamcast likely has no clue about it.
Crash was on the PS2 though by then Sony had other "mascots". But I wouldn't say someone that started gaming in that era doesn't know Crash.
Personally I can see Mario and Sonic as mascots.....nothing else though. Sony never had one that stuck and I don't think MS has one. I suppose it's easy to create one since MS doesn't have as many exclusives....but I still don't see it the same as back when Mario and Sonic were going at it.
