Will The Witcher 2 De-Thrown Skyrim as The Best RPG On 360 ?

I doubt Skyrim is the best. Yes the world is massive with alot of places to explore. However the combat is just clunky as hell. and combat is always a big part of what makes an RPG great.

Just because you don't like something, doesn't mean the opinion of the vast majority is magically somehow invalid.

Skyrim is a very interesting "debacle" to me,Looking at Skyrim on paper, its not as good as Kingdoms of Amalur, not even close.

KoA has the open world and sidequests that WRPG fans love so much, It has a dramatically better combat system (Gameplay is kind of important right?)And it runs very well on consoles, while Skyrim is the buggiest console game ever released, rivaled only by other Bethesda games.

Despite these facts, Skyrim is the highest rated RPG of all time, and KoA has a 79 metacritic score, Why? Theres no logical explanation for it, i believe the hype surrounding Skyrim made fans believe that they are "suppose" to love it, while a lesser known title like KoA isnt suppose to be held in such high regard.

I have a huge amount of love for New Vegas (easily better than Skyrim) but the Witcher 2 might be better.

It has a more interesting plot/characters and choices also have huge consequences (New Vegas did this very well also). The combat is also a bit smoother in The Witcher 2.

They are hard to compare however since New Vegas is open world and The Witcher 2 not so much.

Hell no. The Witcher series will never, ever be as popular as the Elder Scroll series. The brand name of TES is much more popular and Skyrim appeals to a much larger group of people. I, however, find the Witcher 2 to be vastly superior to Skyrim but I love both. Lethalhazard

Compared to Fallout 1 and 2 or Planescape Torment everything is crap.

well for m witcher 2 was my goty but skyrim was far more poular on pc so i bet it will be the same on xbox, they did a huge staep in the right direction with the game though, so maybe in the next game they could.

Don't get me wrong. The Witcher 2 is a good game. The graphics are amazing. Story is decent. I got it for $40 when it first came out so it was a good deal.

But Skyrim is a much more open world with like 5 times the content. I actually don't usually give that much of a damn how "open" a game is. But I found the side quests to be very interesting. Which compelled me to explore even more. Every sidequest seemed to branch out to something epic. It didn't feel like an offline MMO with a bunch of copy paste quests.

Witcher 2 on the otherhand had a good main story that felt rather short. Perhaps 15-20 hours. And the side quests were pretty meh. A bunch of bountys and stuff. After I did a few I just didn't feel compelled to do any more. Overall it was like Skyrim was like 4 or 5 Witcher 2's rolled into 1. Where Witcher 2 was like 20 hours of epic Skyrim was like 80.

I loved Skyrim, but I'm gonna have to say the Witcher 2 is better. It's more story and character focused than Skyrim is and less about massive world exploring. But even though I love skryim, I wouldn't consider it the best RPG on the 360 since Tales of Vesperia takes that cake (also love the whole ME series more than skryim too). The Witcher 2 will be a fine addition to the 360's library and even though I already have the PC version, I'm getting the dark edition for 360 (gotta have that artbook) and can play it some more to get the achievments. So yup, it's better than Skyrim.

How do you not even play the game a 2nd time? You didnt want to see the other path you didnt take? (Roches/Iorveths)

1. Skyrim is not the best RPG - it's the RPG with the biggest marketing budget.

2. Witcher 2 and Skyrim are different kinds of RPG (story focused W2 vs. sandbox TES).

3. I prefer the Witcher.

I prefer the Sandbox style to a story-driven RPG. Just holds my attention longer.

Skyrim and NV are completely different games. I hated NV but I loved Skyrim for different reasons, and I love fantasy games. Just sayin'

2. A Throne is what royalty like Skyrim sits on.

They are totally different types of games so really comparing one to the other is stupid. Skyrim is more about character building and phat lewts. The Witcher is very much about story and how your decisions affect the world and not really about loot or your character as much.

Overrated imo (I hate using the term, but damn, if there's ever been 3 games that I hear about constantly that I just didn't "get")

Awesome games, but I've never really understood the fanatical devotion to them. I really didn't find them to be this paragon of gaming never to be achieved again, wheres the BG series and ES series (MW in particular) left me amazed. I'd still not say that no game has come close to their quality in the modern day, though. Hell, Halo CE left me more amazed than those games.
