By sacrificing performance, just like Dragon Age.

Heirren

Eh, FF games have almost always gone the detail route. I remember FF7 getting pretty choppy here and there, but not to the point where it affected gameplay.

Doesn't change the fact that the PS3 suffers performance problems, while the 360 keeps a steady 30fps during that scene. If the PS3 was so powerful, it should be able to run it at a higher resolution AND at a higher fps. Lazy devs I suppose, despite the 360 getting a rushed port.

And why do you think that? :)Heirren

It is a Metal Gear game. The amount of audio will guarantee massive amounts of compression on any format other than blu ray. This is a fact.

There's lossless audio compression and play time length...

Examples of lossless audio compression formats are; FLAC, Monkey's Audio (filename extension APE), WavPack (filename extension WV), Shorten, TTA, ATRAC Advanced Lossless, Apple Lossless, MPEG-4 SLS, MPEG-4 ALS, MPEG-4 DST, Windows Media Audio Lossless (WMA Lossless).

As for the game, ATI Xenos and ATI/NVDX10 GPUs has 3DC+ support.

Nope because the whole point of MGS Rising is to make it accessible to a bigger audience who are not necessarily familiar with the series. It wont be a Kojima title but it is a proper MGS game with the exception of Solid Snake. Regarding cutscenes Im sure they wont be too long and the game is created as a multiplatform title so I doubt there will be any drawbacks. Though Kojima is not actively involved the latest trailer convinced me it will be a great entry into the series, may not have the trademark slow paced stealth gameplay but it's definitely a welcome change, the hunting style stealth will be interesting and of course the lightening fast zan-datsu gameplay. Rising is about the only game that could convince me to get PSMove if it's implemented.

I don't believe in this whole "holding back" thing. It's up to the developer. You could make the argument that any console "holds back" a game if its made for the PC as well, but let's be honest - most PC games are designed to run on a variety of rigs.

[QUOTE="charizard1605"] He's right. Why are the PS3 versions of multiplats ALWAYS inferior? It looks like very few devs outside of Sony in house teams can really understand the console's hardware and architecture. It's a bit like the N64 all over again.delta3074

Its because of the way most devs develop their games. they like to think they can dev first on 360 and port to PS3 with no extra optimization on the PS3 port. which is stupid. This is the only reason i can think of.

so explain ghostbusters, where the Ps3 was the lead platform and it still looked and performed better on the 360, or red dead redemption, a seperate team worked on the Ps3 version and it still eneded up worse

Ghostbusters is a weird enigma to me as its the only PS3 deved first game taht turned out that bad. Also, the Red Dead thing is something of R* inability to take PS3 tech serieously I think. Seriously, this is their second game ina row that turned out worse or alot worse on PS3. I think at that point its a Dev not taking certain steps thing more then it is a Hardware thing. Im sure R* still optimizes on 360 for some reason.

Will the 360 version of MGS Rising hold back the PS3 version? PC version will be the best. Yes we all know that.

erglesmergle

i dunno Kojima productions have pretty much only made games for Playstation platform with a few exceptions like boktai and lunar nights.Last game they done that was on an xbox and PC was MGS2 substance and the ports were weak and the xbox one suffered from slowdowns in a few area's like when you come across the fire coming back from shell 2 (trust me i own it :P)

Track history with Kojima productions on other platforms is really vague so we dont know how the game could fare. But because of Kojipro's history im thinking the game will be more geared and optimized a wee bit better on the PS3 down to them having more time with the PS3 and its architecture and how to code for it.

@hd5870corei7 No you're wrong most of the data in MGS4 was uncompressed audio not the FMV's. MGS4 all together uses 32 gig of a Blu-ray disc.

Xbox 360 versions can only hold back a game from size issues. So unless MGS Rising needs to be crammed into 2-3 disks than no.

No, because the game was planned from the start to be on the PS3 and 360.
