It seems like Xbox really missed the boat this gen. First they had the hardware debacle, which they had to untangle, but now they're seeing the results of other missed opportunities too. Investments in first party, namely single player action adventure games. Do you think MS cares about single player, SW? They did well with a couple of indies like Cuphead and Ori. They just need one big one to be the face of the franchise. Agreed?
Unlike the games you mentioned in your title, most Microsoft 1st party titles are feature-rich with both numerous Single player and multiplayer features, however the single player campaigns just didn't receive as much critical acclaim as those games.
Legendary studio Playground Games is apparently working on a new Action RPG, so that could be the game to compete with the ones in the OP, but there is no guarantee that game will be single player only, rather it looks like it will at least have a higher-profile single player portion compared to current 1st party titles.
This makes me wonder, will Sony or Nintendo ever match the overall caliber of some Microsoft 1st party titles? When will we see a high-profile game with numerous Single player, Cooperative and Competitive features, all on dedicated servers? Curious for that as well.

You mean like Halo and Gears? Those games are currently getting dominated by every other MP game out.
Sony has a bunch of games that are really good. Horizon, Uncharted, GOW, LoU etc. Don't act like Sony doesn't have these games that draw the attention to the people. I am a PC guy, but have to give props to Sony for really going after these exclusives.
Well there have been rumors about a new fable (a series I've loved) but I'm not sure that's in the same caliber as HZD and even much less BoTW. The other rumors are about MS looking to acquire additional studios to produce exclusives. So yeah... rumors are the only thing I got here.
Nope, it would sell like trash just like most Xbox exclusives and I use that term loosely. Xbox fanatics hates all games especially single player games.
I personally love forza Horizon 3, but ms simply will never take the risks required to break out from their tired ass forza/gears/halo. Microsoft simply cannot execute on the games front. They are kings of smokescreen tactics like dynamic 4k, backwards compatibility to pull attention from their dismal software offering.
I feel like the XBO already had a nice open-world sort of action game right out of the gate with Dead Rising 3. And maybe I'm still the only person looking forward to it, but I still think Crackdown 3 could be awesome.
I know those aren't exactly Zelda or Horizon equivalent, but who knows, maybe they'll find something to replace the Scalebound void.

FH3 has the higher overall scores, which according to you and your fellow bovines, means everything. It's the better game. But it's ok, Horizon is good too :)

Horizon has more review scores on MC than FH3 therefore it's average has more of a chance to go down. You also don't compare MC scores directly of games that aren't even close to being in the same genre like that. You look at GOTY awards, hype, and sales to see how both games fared. Horizon completely destroys FH3 in that department same with BOTW. Other than lemmings and Xbox zealots no one in the real world mentions FH3. ? None of MS' mediocre first party offerings this gen belong in the same sentence as a game like Horizon.
They have Forza H which only really appeals to racing game fans. Im not a fan of racing games personally but I feel for the devs of that game as it seems wasted on XBox. Imagine the money they could be rolling in if those games were on PS4/PC instead.
If Sega buys XBOX division then that is good news for XBOX because they can look forward to an exclusive Sonic Adventures HD Remaster Collection, ChuChu Rocket 2 HD or just have old 16-bit games up-scaled to 4K at ~30fps and advertise them as new 4k games at E3. Most of the teenagers on XOX will just think they are brand new games and wildly rejoice for exclusives and who cares if they look like upscaled 16-bit games, its the art style like Ori and Cuphead.

Why not just think for yourself? You're literally trying to argue your opinion using the opinions of others. You're trying to make out that comparing games quality is an art when the reality is that there is no true way to empirically compare the quality of two games that are vastly different, other than *gasp* giving your own opinion on the matter.
I highly doubt because MS seems to stop investing in SP games of pretty much any kind. All their upcoming games are heavily multiplayer focused or just tacked on SP.
