Will you buy a 3D TV on black friday if the price is right?

Right now at Best Buy you can get a 40 inch 3D samsung TV for $1600.00, thats a bit more reasonable than 3 grand, then again it is smaller than the 55 inch once for $3000.00. Im definitley thinking about buying one if the price gets low enough. If say on Black friday you can get a 3D TV for $1200.00 or $1300 for a decent size, will that encourage you to buy one?

No new tv for me in about 2-3 years.

I think i definitley will for my gaming room.. Keep in mind that you can also use it as a regular HDTV, you have an option to turn 3D on and off, im a tech junkie so yea ill defnitle buy one.

I wont be fooled into buying a $2000 gimmick when I already have a 45 inch Plasma TV in my living room.

i would not pay more than 600$ for a new tv and over 1000 dollers is just ridicules

That still isn't that good of a price. 4 months ago I bought a 42" Vizio 1080 240Hz with a 50k:1 contrast for a mere $700. I don't think 2" smaller and 3D is worth an additional $900

Apparently around 40% of US internet connections are still dial-up. In many more rural places... like where I live... your choices are limited to dial-up or expensive satellite internet (I have the latter).

Nope, I am planning on getting a new Receiver, a few new speakers, a new mountain bike (or road bike), a new computer and possibly some new skis before I get a new TV. I think it will be 3 or 4 years before I get a new TV, but if I could get a 40" 3D LED TV for the right price (say 400 dollars or something, I would jump on it)

Maybe for Black Friday 2011. I'll have to see how the whole 3D TV thing plays out.

Plasmas offers, hands down, some of the best black levels on the market. The only picture I consider better is projection, to the point where I don't think I could ever watch a movie again outside of a dedicated theater room.

Anyway... I was actually looking today to upgrade my projector to a 3-D Ready projector. nVidia has a piece of software out now to output games in 3D over HDMI 1.4 meaning I could purchase a 3D projector and glasses and play Starcraft 2, Crysis 2 and Portal 2 in 3D theater. The problem I ran into is that nothing, and I mean nothing, is really standardized yet. Different sets use different 3D glasses, different projectors and displays are using different ways of working with the 3D glasses, and the standards for future 3D Blu-Rays (such as Avatar) aren't nearly as clear as I initially believed.

Add-in that a few display manufacturers are working on sets that use cheaper glasses, or don't use glasses at all, and it seems risky now to invest in 3D. I'm actually not all that opposed to gadgetry here (I am, after all, talking about throwing away a high-end 1080p projector that's barely over a year old just to play a few games in 3D) but I don't want to deal with things being incompatible or have to muck around with "fixes" to get things to work. I did that far too much in the early days of HDTVs (before GPU manufacturers thought "man, our GPUs should just work with your HDTV perfectly") and it was a mess.

At this point, I'm looking to upgrade my home theater by May 2011. At that point I should be moving anyway, so I'll just rebuild the theater room from the ground up, get a new set of mirages and be done with it. I should point out for people who want a "Deal", you can get ridiculously low prices on some 3D ready equipment online. HOWEVER, that is when you will run into the compatibility issue. The "cheap" yesterday set isn't compatible with anticipated future 3D technology, but the current set that costs five times as much isn't either! Crappy...

While the actual glass of your screen might be capable of 3D, the circuitry driving it needs a complete hardware overall. It's more than just some software changes, which is why firmware upgrades won't allow it. If they could make a cheap 3D set, they would, because it would sell like hotcakes.

Nope, only 3D I care about is on the 3DS.

In my current life of being a college student living at home I have a use for a computer monitor, and that's it.
