So, now we all know that now Final Fantasy VII, Metal Gear Solid are coming to PSN. Soon Resident Evil and Wild Arms 2 will come, and not only that, Sony promises that 40 PSOne Classic will come to PSN by the end of the year....

So, the question is.... Will you buy them? For 9,99$ you'll get a classic game, although maybe the graphics are sick for your eyes, maybe I can stand it.

Hopefully Sony won't adopt the $9.99 price scheme for less popular upcoming games.

What's sad is that I used to own this, as well as a slew of other now hard to find (and ridiculously priced) RPG's. :(

Oh, god yes. When I get my PS3 MGS will be the first PS1 game I'm buying. I have yet to play it, and there is no point in buying a proper PS1 copy of it.

I will get FF VII for sure... if FF VIII comes i'll get that too.. 10 bucks is a fair price for SOME games like the ones I mentioned before, for less accomplished games I hope sony puts lower price tags..

Could care less really. I think it's great that Sony is rereleasing these titles on PSN, but I own a lot of PS1 titles(never sold any of them) and own the games that have already been release. I see no incentive for me, but as a feature for those who don't, it awesome.

Nope, not a chance. Not only is $9.99 too much, but nostalgia is a *****, especially on large HD sets.

The essentials collection is arguably a better value (includes MGS1, MGS2:Substance, MGS3:Subsistence), especially if you've never played any MGS games. Attractive individual packaging to boot and it's only $30.

Absolutely, I've already bought Suikoden and Final Fantasy VII, I'm going to get Resident Evil and Metal Gear Solid this week when I get another PSN card. I love playing these on PSP, reliving some of my most memorable moments in gaming on a handheld is just awesome. And FYI, PS1 Classics are priced at 5.99 and 9.99, and only a handful of them are 9.99.

So Far I have 1. Street Fighter Alpha Jan 6, 2009 2.MGS1 June 18, 2009 3. Resident Evil DC June 18, 2009- Used to hate it back in the day but why not take a shot MGS1 controls on PSP will take some time as u have to hold the nub to the left to access items while holding it to the right access the weapons. The problem is that u have to scroll down with the D pad. It really feels awkard

why do graphics matter now when the games were great back then? i've played plenty of these old games and have had plenty of fun. plus TC some of these games go 30 dollars and upwards so 10 bux aint so bad, but alot of the original ones poster on the store are only 6.00

Indeed. Seems graphics only matter when it's about Playstation to him. I think it'll be pretty cool playing damn bad looking games. I booted up Resi 2 a couple of days ago and went "EW" but still enjoyed it.

Its not a dumb reason, its a general concern with older games and HDTVs, that is still the reason I game my PS2 on my old SDTV. Little hard by the way, being I don't own a PSP.

Most PSN games are $5.99, but for some reason KONAMI is charging $9.99 for MGS1. Same for SE, charging $9.99.

However, as far as pricing goes, this is still in line with the Wii's N64 games being $9.99. Sure, N64 games could be cheaper, and sure MGS1/FF7 could be cheapr, but these companies want some more money, I guess.

10 USD is the most I'd pay for a game that's two generations old. And sorry to break it to you, but most of those titles really don't stand the test of time. I don't live in the bubble of nostalgia. The games that are worth owning more than a decade after release are few and far between.

I mean listen we all know these games hasnt aged like fine wine graphically. But their still fun, and though the graphics are somewhat crude now from the ps1 era they can still get the medium across to us and we can still enjoy it visually and aesthetically.

I guess having ageneral concern about something is such a terrible deed, hm? I care about the quality of a game in all aspects, that was why I might buy a PS1 copy and runth it on PS2 on a SDTV screen. But hey its just me?

I play the ps2 games and the downloadable PS1 classics on my HDTV(32 inch, 1080p, blah blah blah) and it works out great. When you are playing the game you just hit the PS button and you get to cusomtize alot, you can put the game in normal, or full screen, there is a smoothing option which smooths out the image making it have less jaggies, there are memory card options, control slot options, even the game manual(when you download old ps1 games). No worries for playing older games on your PS3.

I've had HDTV's before there was even a 360 around, you seem to be a bit too picky, since you're new to the HDTV thang.

The PS2 was the first console that had Component Cables, and games did support Widescreen/ED/HD. GT4 in 1080i! Yes please! It wasn't a lot, but it looked better than playing on an SDTV. Same for my Cube and Xbox back then.

Anyways, There is no problem, and you can make the games look better than they did before. That's like not buying any Wii VC games, since you game on a HDTV.

For $10?! Um, how much do they charge on Amazon for MGS1? I'd like to know before deciding on this one. Well, I just checked right now. It's 8.90. Not a huge difference, I'm surprised. Is MGS1 really worth THAT much? The current ones in the PS Store are only $5, which I'd say is more worth it. Man, I gotta get my hands on Crash 1 and 2. For some reason, I've never got a chance to play those yet.:(

It depends. I'm buying an odler model PS3 with backwards compatability and I'll always perfer buying a hard copy of a game than a downloadable title. If a game I want to buy is still about $80 used or so and I really, really want to play that game, then I'll just download it for $10.

One I have already bought some classics off PSN.

Two, only four of the 41 titles on PSN are 10 bucks and they are all classic games.

Three, they look fine on HD sets I played syphon filter, SOTN, MGS and others on my HD sets and they were fine, are they ugly by today's standards? Yes, but they look like PS1 games.

Four, with how many awesome PS1 games and PSN games coming out I have to upgrade my HDD.

Thank you. I appreciate the information, I been trying to get info on this and been unlucky with it. I mean it wasn't something that would have prevented me from getting it, just a general concern, and some people are getting overworked up by a few words.

Just my 360/PS3/Gamecube, my Wii/PS2 are still hooked to a SD. I am simply laying out a concern I had, thats all.

Ok now that I know what you meant. No I don't see me buying them. Not because I don't want them, but because every PS1 game that I would want, I still own the Hard Copy.

I don't have a PS3 but i'd buy a crap ton of these games. I've never owned a Sony console so there are alot of games i've never played. Some of them have gone multiplat but they're so high in number that I feel like I wouldn't understand what's going on. The only one i've played is RE5 solely because a friend from work harped on it alot and he suggested another game that I like. If I had a PS3 and they were available i'd buy: Final Fantasy 7 and 8 (never played a FF game) Metal Gear Solid (never played a MGS game) Chrono Cross There was a jrpg called Valkyrie something (or maybe it was vagrant something) that I always heard was pretty good. If I saw that, i'd pick it up. Bushido Blade Tenchu The bad graphics wouldn't stop me. If an old game now sucks just because the graphics aren't good, it was probably a crappy game to begin with.
