According to Steam march survey , Micrsoft windows 10 is the most popular OS between steam users followed by OS X and linux, hmm sounds Tim sweeny’s rant and UWP news didn’t hurt its reputation so much. Intel and Nivida are also still dominant on steam , you can read more here

I have had no problems with Windows 10 at all, I like it

Edit: Apart from the App store, they really need to sort that out, especially if they want to sell games to PC gamers through it.

Free upgrade, and it's a mostly solid OS. Still a few issues with Xbone controller support on some older games, which can be frustrating. Not sure if it's an OS issue, or just shitty driver/game support.

I have Windows 10 and haven't had a problem yet. Not sure what people have against it and are limiting themselves by holding onto an outdated OS.

They think it's spyware, which is a problem. Yet they're the same group that own Android phones and don't think that Google isn't spying on them as well. Windows 10 is a great OS and Steamos is still behind, not to mention that Vulkan 1.0 still gets beaten by DirectX 11

I guess all that Microsoft whining was hot air, PC gamers actually love totalitarian etiquette; like a big bunch closet console gamers.

@FireEmblem_Man: at this point I really hope people are aware Google is tracking all their shit. I mean Google makes it painfully obvious. My phone automatically tracks my packages based on my emails, notifies me about changes in weather at my location, notifies me of travel times when it thinks I'm going to and from work, and even has a Google now card for my parking location.

You can get rid of most by installing cyanogenmod or other custom version os, but yes avg consumer has no idea how much tracking google actually does

I agree, the whole "MS is spying on you" is all blown out of proportion yet doesn't think that a lot of corporations do the same, but it's all about MS working with the NSA...... They think that Valve and Gabe Newell is the savior, yet they track you with their Steam Services.

What I don't get is how they could think in this day and age, them merely being connected to the internet isn't causing someone or some thing to track their every move. Every last keystroke and search term we enter on the internet is tracked for the (mostly) sole purpose of directed marketing. There is literally no way to use the internet and escape it, short of being a tin-foil hat wearing hacker who drops in on the CIA database on a weeknight for something interesting to do.

Windows 10 is the best OS they've produced in a long time. I'm not sure why it's a surprise that it's the most popular, particularly as was mentioned there was a free upgrade for a lot of people.

Windows Store sucks but Windows 10 is excellent, IMO obviously.

Ive been an insider for what it says over 2 years (though I think that stat must be broken) and Ive had no major issues. Being an insider you do get broken things, last one plugging in a xbox controller caused pc crashes hahaha, but thats what a tester signs up for. Love win10 and everything that comes with it.

At least one fewer Windows 10 user since that survey was done.

I switched back to Windows 7 after getting fed up with all the glitches associated with Windows 10. Main issues were driver support (or lack thereof) and random game crashes.

Oh there's issues with current games as well, I actually had to go back to windows 7 (re install it cause it was past the 30 days crap) cause of a conflicting error that kept on popping up in Black Desert, Blade and Soul, Far Cry Primal and Warhammer EC. It was a pretty awesome OS tell that crap happened.

There's nothing limiting if it functions according to all the tasks you personally need it for. Wen the operating system fails to fulfill this purpose, then it will be time for an upgrade.

The thing is Windows 10 doesn't offer that much more than Windows 7 did in terms of OS features. In fact they are now playing catch up with Linux desktops for a lot of things such as DPI scaling and multi desktop support and file manager features and things just working out of the box.

And they still haven't implemented a proper software repository system where you can add links to other services to a unified software updater, it's fucking stupid that each individual piece of software has to have it's own updater unless you want to make a crappy UWP app and serve it on Microsoft's servers.

One of the main reasons when building a computer for anyone who knows nothing about computers, I don't touch Windows with a stick, being able to press update and have the entire system updated in one click is so much easier, you can even SSH in and do it for them.

Microsoft really needs to start doing worthwhile stuff with Windows, replacing NTFS with a better filesystem might be a start especially in their server OS, EXT3/4 kicks it's ass so bad it's not even funny.

They have already lost mobile through stupidity.

Windows 10 is not a bad OS, it's not a good one either, when you have to fiddle with it to stop it phoning home all the time and spending hours trying to solve problems that should not exist it's ending up being where Linux was 5 years ago.

for starters it's free to all windows 7 and windows 8 users.

Secondly, MS had a way of not really giving you a choice but to upgrade.

I have refused flat out to upgrade because i don't like the way windows gathers user data.

It was just released. Once DX12 capable GPU's saturate the market more, more developers will integrate it.

Plus, the entire Xbone-to-PC catalogue will be unavailable to anyone not on 10. And to me, a free OS is a great way to avoid paying $350 CAD for a console I don't need.

I jumped right into it since last year and I like Windows 10 for the most parts, it ain't bad. There are a few features they could have placed in plain view, but overall, I give windows 10 a 8/10. Well, my PC had an issue but I believe it was isolated to my rig. I also had four co-workers upgrade on day one with zero issues. Still have zero issues on every PC that upgraded. Loving it so far and I'm having a blast asking Cortana silly questions.

Win10 is fast if you disable/untick most of the useless features, for example I disabled Blue-tooth and the wireless speed went up...

Theres many things to disable you just got to dig for a bit for settings to configure... Use Google for help... Makes Win10 even more responsive.

PS: Also disabling Super-Wireless helped me.. (On Device Manager for the techies)
