The Anti-MS Clowns are at it again. Sony could do anything bad but these fools would continue to pretend it didn't happen. I bet GT is only the start of adding micro-transactions in their games.

Remember the new defense for Microtransactions is "You don't have to buy it". LOL

Yup. After losing so badly in such a humiliating way they've become unhinged.

Everything they've predicted this gen has turned out to be either a lie or wrong, so they've become bitter and lash out at anyone that threatens the safe space of delusion they've created in their minds lol.

It's for businesses and not even a requirement for businesses. Anyone saying otherwise is just concern trolling.

I'm not worried, it's for businesses. If it comes to public consumers, uhhhh...PC, uhh, finds a way.

It always does.

People can laugh all they want

But what if in a bunch of years microsoft announced 10 bucks a month windows licenses for PC, and combine it with there Xbox program so you are subscribed there for free and even make the first year totally free with it.

Watch most of the gamers turn it into a "oh its still free because look at what you get".

It's another PSN situation where PS3 sony got heavily praised for there free online, and PS4 oh well its still free "look at what you get" but instead its now a pay wall.

This could very well happen in the future. Microsoft could also force developers to support there platform or simple prevent them from licensing.

Gaben fear was completely on the right spot, however the time simple wasn't there. Microsoft preferable locks the entire windows platform down to maximize there profits.

Steam could be done for at this point in time as the main shop people will have that come new towards the PC platform = windows store.

They could brute force that windows to new users like they did with windows 10.

Not much diff in paying $150 upfront vs $2-3/month you'll have the option of doing either, just like office.

Even if they did charge a monthly fee to private users these clowns would change the narrative anyway, so I have no idea why they're fighting so hard. Just like when Xbox constantly changes features and strategies, they get left holding the bag. It's weird how Xbox fans are all out Microsoft fans. They still probably own Windows phones. That's why people are always suspecting that they're astroturfers.

This is MS trying to push their way to a trillion dollars for their shareholders, and this would be a novel way to get there quick if they did.

No. I don't hear PS fans defending all other aspects of Sony, and second, owning an Xbox only ever seems to do is make fans the console even more defensive and feeling victimized. It's a toxic platform. It's not doing anything for anyone, and everyone who owns it goes out of their way to drive everyone else from it. PS4 has good games to play. I doubt there would be many Playstation fans left after this gen if they went through all the shit Xbox did,

It's Xbox fans willingness to defend EVERYTHING that ruined the brand. They don't have to take up arms for everything the company does as a whole.

@BenjaminBanklin: Are you for real? You don't hear PS fanboys defending Sony on crossplay when this serves only the company and not the players? Never seen cows defending The Order and Knack? Never? And the Xbox is toxic? Can you honestly browse this forums and say that with a straight face? Because that alone is hilarious!!! Of course Lems get defensive, just like any user base, cows included, everytime they feel attaked. It's human nature. When you are in a forum and a large amount of threads created are bashing the Xbox of course you going to get a defensive user base. I mean, cows like your self just can't let it go, everything must be spinned against the Xbox. Even on a Sony thread the conversation always diverges to Xbox. You guys keep bringing back 5yo news to the discussion. It's not hard to look at the most recent threads list on SW and have a majority of anti Xbox threads, many time complete lies or outdated stuff. If Lens are the most toxic, you cows sure are doing a bad job in letting it show. But in my view it's not like cows are the worst because PS fans are toxic. It's just that a fanboy is by definition toxic and just so happens that PS is in such a lead that is bound to have more idiots. It's the person, not the brand.

And for real, after the PS3 you really think only Lems support their brand no matter what? If anything, a bigger % of Lems jumped the Xbox this gen than cows did the PS last gen. The Xbox will end this gen with around 50% less sales. You even have Cows here that were lems during the 360 and now even go through the effort of creating plain BS threads just to thrash the Xbox.

@phbz: So a gaming company that after 5 years in the market this gen has not been able to release more than a AAA exclusive title, keeps a weak first party, cancelling games and releasing unfinished garbage should be praised by gamers? MS has won their criticism. Gamers shouldn't lower their standards because poor MS and their fanboys could feel sad. Criticism is exactly what an industry such as gaming needs to keep standards high. At this point MS fanboys are being more toxic to gaming by accepting and supporting a company that is clearly not invested in gaming as they should. It is weird that gamers think other gamers should be unconditional supporters of a company that is not investing in games. That looks more like corporate shills than gamers to be honest.

Crossplay is almost a non-issue in this context. If Sony keeps delivering games then that's the most important thing a gaming company should focus on and care about. The minute Sony goes the MS route and starts releasing crap and abandoning their investment in a strong first party then I and many others will stop supporting them and they will deserve it. Besides you claim crossplay doesn't affect PS gamers? Well it might actually do. If Sony allows crossplay then people won't need a PS to play the games which means less money to Sony which means less investment in their first party. I don't want to support MS network with my money, MS hasn't won my support. I'm ok with crossplay with PC that Sony already supports and I wouldn't mind with Nintendo because they also invest heavily in games. For gamers games are much more important than playing online games with people from other platforms.

After 3 years with the PS3 Sony had completely turned around the console and had a strong first party delivery with several AAA games. That's the difference. Sony reacted to support gaming, MS has been reacting to support other things but gaming. Ok, you people like their services but stop telling gamers to support them if MS keeps being a shit gaming company.

Listen to what I'm saying because you've completely fallen apart. I don't just mean Playstation, naturally this place is full of Playstation fanboys. I mean Sony, the company as a WHOLE, the corporation itself. The cows here don't go to bat for Sony as a whole like they do for Playstation. Meaning, you're not going to find that anyone here will be offended if you insult Sony's movie studio or anything else not involved with Playstation.

The Xbots here on the other hand, have been fighting tooth and nail for ALL things Microsoft, like in this thread. Windows here being the case. The love for Microsoft has gone way beyond Xbox, to worship of the company overall. Having to nickel and dime users of Windows could potentially be a bad thing to be concerned with, IF it happens beyond the business sector. People here got unnaturally defensive at the notion. The concern came from the article, and all the MS fans here, naturally, are attempting to kill the messenger.

This didn't have anything to do with Xbox, but it could affect gaming for those on PC if it were to become an issue which is why its a gaming issue. It's not worth clearing the bench over. The fact that MS could not give a comment on the plans is troubling. This odd over-defense of the company as a whole here can strike people as behavior suspiciously like that of astroturfing.

@BenjaminBanklin: You would have a point but the amount of cows bashing MS around here kind of defeats you. And it's certainly not unheard of, people defending Sony, cows used to brag how MS had to pay royalties to Sony over Blu-rays, remember? Plus, obviouly the PS3 era made the narrative to separate from Sony, since Sony was in a bad place as a whole. But it's not like threads made to make fun of Sony's bad financials weren't filled with cows defending Sony. And you want cows to create and post in this kind of thread but Lems aren't aloud? So why exactly is this being posted here instead of on the PC forum? It's in SW so it will be treated accordingly. Just stop fouling yourself into believing that you're on the right side.

MS is gonna be fine. I wouldn't let it eat at your emotions. Is Microsoft in any danger of shutting its doors because people roasted them on a message board? They're too big to fail. The narrative to separate from Sony? Why should anyone give two damns about the rest of Sony (or MS) as long as they make satisfactory video game systems and good games? If anything, the problem with Xbox this gen was the rest of Microsoft getting their filthy fingers all over the Xbox division.

And look what happened. Now all the Xbox games are on PC, making the console irrelevant. That's good for me, mind you, but leaves nothing for the console owners to champion. MS waved the white flag with Xbox right at that moment.

Anyway, a lot of people are PC owners, and this is an issue that's concerning if this is where the future is going. Why should I care about how you feel about it? I'm a customer of this product, and I'll say what I have an issue with whenever I damn well please.

It's like the QAnon movement became MS haters overnight. The is isn't being pushed on Windows 10 users, it's optional service aimed at businesses.

Depends on the business model and pricing. Kind of funny as some people are reacting. Everyone is on a service model, people use those services like Netflix, PS Plus, Gold, Prime, etc. But Windows is were it stops. How dare they!?

Netflix was never "free", but it's always been a huge value. Gold and PS Plus were adding onto what was once free (basic online play), but only justifiable based on content they provide, not so much on online play. Prime was also never "free", you can still get free shipping from Amazon just as always (it was $25, then $35 for awhile, now $25 again). Prime is just for those that think it's worth it to get certain services. To me, it's really not worth it, which is why I've only been an on again off again subscriber. Not a steady subscriber.

Of course neither was Windows ever "free", but most people are accustomed to it being part of the cost of their PC's - or being a one time expense. Enterprises are probably used to it being a one time expense as well. I doubt this will help anyone reduce overall expenses. Only a fool would believe Microsoft would be trying this for any other reason than to increase their own revenues.

I just hope that more game engine developers start making use of Vulkan. The more we distance ourselves from DirectX, the better. That way it makes it easier to abandon Windows for Linux.

The incentive to use Vulkan reduces as Windows 10 market gain continues to rise. Windows 10 already has 50% of the PC market.

Remember when "Window Store would become a monopoly, we will no longer be able to install STEAM" drama came about?

People are pathetic.

That was Gaben's fear so not entirely "pathetic"

The fact that Gaben hates MS with a passion, he got scared of Windows store but we all knew this wasn't gonna replace Steam in the long run. Nobody didn't believe this fear other then Gaben.

The thing that will replace Steam for the next generation of users is Streaming. Valve can't compete in that field.

Yes, and Vulkan can run on all those Win 10 PCs along with other OS. So, it is up to the developers to choose to support the open API.

How? It's like a jet engine?

Windows 10 forced updates is like a virus you can't disable them also the layout looks like a tablet I can't stand it. It was free for a long time for a reason also I couldn't care less about DX12 and Microsoft's windows store is complete trash.

So I guess you forgot about the post were Sony was selling buildings to stay afloat.

I been happy with W10 since day one, I was just happy to upgrade from W7 but yeah, I totally understand the forceful updates and I don't blame you for it. I just took it as it is and learned to deal with it. As long as I'm able to enjoy using it for gaming OS, I just never bitch about it.

Unless Microsoft almost completely removes the API from their OS. Since they will have the market share to do so, developers will likely be forced to update their games, since over 90% of Windows 10 devices will be updated to the latest version.

DirectX 12 and Vulkan APIs are harder use when compared to DirectX11. MS hasn't back ported low overhead Xbox's DirectX11.X to PC's Windows.
