Official Games for Windows website says absolutely nothing about it.

No info about DirectX 11 games. No info about the gaming advantages of Windows 7. Absolutely nothing about gamers should get interested into getting Windows 7.

I mean, way to go Microsoft. It's no wonder consolites cast the death of the PC platform.

With this kind of support from the company which should be the biggest advocate of the PC platform, I'm really not sure just how bright the future of PC gaming actually is.

MS tried and failed. Now a decent PC is not getting any more expensive so they would rather people get a 360.

People realized after DX10 there was no reason to get excited over this crap again. It's a rather expensive migration for diminishing returns. Honestly, almost no PC developers are supporting the platform's feature set because almost no hardware's out that supports it and the smallest portion of the PC using community is on Windows 7 right now, there's hardly any point to spend the development resources maximizing DX11 optimization, particularly considering a lot of PC games are multi-platform. That and the only in-game benchmarks I've seen for Windows 7 showed worse performance than both Windows XP AND Windows Vista.

Wether it improves my gamers or not I cannot say but I sure prefer W7 over Vista and the archaic XP.

Here is a selling point; Doesn't take as much resources to run in the background for games, making performance better!

[QUOTE="Propaganda_"]First Infnity Ward, now this. Nobody cares about PC gaming.

Infinity Ward doesn't care about PC gaming because they give PC gamers the same P2P matchmaking garbage console gamers have been dealing with since Call of Duty 2? As a matter of fact, I own Call of Duty 4 on playstation 3 (which has identical networking to the 360 version), and it uses P2P matchmaking, just like the PC version of MW2. Clearly you don't understand where the outrage is coming from, it's coming from the PC gaming community being pissed off that their platform is being....and this is a direct quote from a lot of users, "consolized." If this is a grave offense to PC gaming, you should be just as pissed at Microsoft and Infinity Ward as PC gamers are about MW2. Anyway, Windows 7 is a decent enough operating system, but not a terribly compelling upgrade for people with XP and the issues, as I've already outlined, stem from not enough hardware and software support to maximize DX11. People are still developing games for DX9 and that will be the standard for a long time.

I got Win 7 Ultimate earlier today, but i have been using it for almost 6 months now, with the RC, and for the past month the RTM.Its an absolutely fantastic OS, and would recommend it to anyone. Gamers are not the core audience Windows 7 is trying ot attract at launch, DX11 cards came out ONE MONTH AGO, just wait 6 months, and you will start seeing DX11 support.

Fizzman

Dude, there are a handful upcoming DirectX 11 games which should at least be mentioned on the site. "Hey, Windows 7 is out and here are the DX 11 games you should totally get hyped about" or something.

When Xbox 720 gets released, there'll be a billion USD marketing campaign about just how awesome and revolutionary new Xbox is.

I mean, this just proves Microsoft gives a rat's arse about PC gaming.

MS doesnt have to advertise for PC games, cause its not like they are gonna go ahead and play the game on a Mac or Linux.

It has nothing to do with a PC version of Halo 3. For what reason would anyone like to release it on the PC? It's a dazzling success on the Xbox 360. It will not sell well on the PC.

Exactly. Well said. Microsoft basically gave up the PC with the Xbox 360. The next Xbox will probably be built on Windows Tech.

Besides that,

Patcher: "Microsoft wants you to never play a game again on your PC and play everything on your 360"

Could he be wrong? Maybe. Maybe not. For all I know, Microsoft throws everything they have into Xbox.

All new versions of Windows since the hallowed '95 have been trouble from the start. M$ just hasn't got it right with this thing in light of all the problems that pop up when you upgrade. That's just my opinion of course but I'm far from being alone with it.

The current Xbox is built on Windows tech, it's using DirectX. But anyway it's not going to be running on the Windows operating system if that's what you mean. There'd be no reason. If they wanted to make a PC they'd make a PC. A game console is not a PC. Your Xbox 360 reserves about 32MB of the total 512 MB of RAM for its operating system, your average Vista/Windows 7-based PC requires at least 512 MB to have a snowman's chance in hell of running properly. Windows is not only designed from the ground up to run on a general purpose processor for general purpose application juggling and a wide variety of junk flying all over the place along with a LOT of legacy support for previous platforms and applications, but it's also a bloated piece of crap as a result of all of that, along with your routine goofs like poor coding (not blaming Microsoft, it's an absolutely gargantuan operating system with a tremendous amount of design issues). In short, it's not even close to suitable for the XBox 360. They might use some bits and pieces of code for feature sets but by and large the Xbox operating systems are built from the ground up and there's a good reason for that, it's a lot more efficient that way.

Any PC gamer who wants Windows 7 will get it, they don't need to be marketed too.

Iall be getting it in Decemeber, and i'm looking forward to the DX11 versions of AvP and Dirt 2, i don't need Microsoft to tell me about them.

We wouldn't be having this problem if we used an operating system that wasn't designed to steal market share like a plague, suck up system resources, splinter communities, implement proprietary systems, force new versions of Windows just for API (DirectX) updates, and so on.

You are comparing two very different markets. Consoles are aimed at casual audiences that dont go out, and buy $400.00+ videocards just for one technical feature. Also most average individuals are too computer illiterate to actually install a videocard. Im not saying its hard, but people who actually know what DX11 is dont need to be reminded about that really amazing looking DX11 game coming out.

I couldn't careless about any of that. As long as the games work. And alot of the time when vista first came out I couldn't get games to work, haven't had that issue with windows 7.

The only reason Windows 7 is out now is because MS was destroyed by the failure that is Vista. So one could argue that Windows 7 isn't technically the NEW windows, so much as it is MS apologizing for Vista by trying to make it more XP.

I'm sorry, but are there Dirext X11 games out right now? Also, what percentage of PC gamers actually own Direct X11 cards? I wouldn't be surprised if that percentage is less than 1%. Stevo_the_gamer

Hehe ya, dont even think all games even use directx10 fully, it come few games like Crysis to show the tech. DirectX9 will work long time.

Stuff like this takes time. I think Microsoft learned that lesson with Vista and DX10.

So much PC bashing recently... :| it's sad :( expanded

I'm not bashing PC with this thread. I'm bashing Microsoft for doing absolutely nothing for its own gaming platform, which is Windows..

Well does it make performance better on games? Because I mean some games ran worse on vista than on XP.

Most important much lower system requirements.
