Go to your local gamestore and buy the damn game, everyone who consideres them a "gamer" HAS to try this game, My fav franchises are MGS, FF, I love a good fps, I´m into sports games, just to get the point across you don´t have to like the warcraft universe to be amazed. This game has everything you want in a game, a huge community(15k on each server) has a HUGE world map, if you were to try to walk acorss the whole thing it would take you forever, thousands of items, quests, it has the blizzard touch you know what I´m talking about. Some of the most fulfilling gaming experiences I´ve had have been with wow, getting a group of friends together trying to take down a boss is really very rewarding, each boss has their own tactic, everyone has to do their part, I don´t even know where to start. Juts like the review said, no matter who you are everyone should play this game. And no you don´t have to lose your life to play wow, what happens often is your sucked into the community and you get competitive, you want to stand out, so you play more to get better gear, it´s easily controlable. PLAY IT!

PS: As for the monthly fee, this is the first time I´ve ever played a game with a monthly fee what have I leanred? If a MMORPG comes out that doesn´t have a monthly fee the game is going to be crap.

If you play, put down your char, race, lvl =P

Eddie-Vedder

I really HATE MMORPGs, I don't like wasting time in such repetitive games without any satisfaction... thats my opinion.

Guild Wars is not an MMORPG, its more like Diablo ...

Meu2k7

They are competing for the same market, the fact that one has instancing and one doesn't as much is completely irrelevant as the gameplay features similarities and the target market is the same.

Tried it, played it, moved on.

I've put a little more time into it than in most games, but I don't feel like it's worth all my time. I might want to play it now and then, but that subscription can be a ***** for those playing it casually. I've been okay.

JLuke360

Same here and sold my toon for A LOT of money which funded my ps3 and 1080p hdtv endeveour.

He's trying to peddle his WoW "candy." If you want to try it, go out and buy it. I suggest not too. I spent a year and a half playing, and it got really boring. End game content is stale and repetitive. i suggest not getting this game, as the community is terrible, most guilds demand that you raid at least twice a week, which involves sitting at your computer for about 3 hours doing the same thing over and over again.

Then you must have been in a crappy guild. My guild which was #1 on the server required a minimum of 5 nights a week of raiding. And the raids ran from 6 pm until midnite. So that was a mandatory 30 hours a week. It was like a job, which is why I quit.

Just out of curiosity, why didn't you just leave the guild and join a more laid back one?

I bought wow some time ago and tired out many chars and got one to lvl 60. Then I went into molten core with my guild and quit the day after that. Some people went there over and over and over spending countless hours to get their "epic gear" and all that but there was no way I was gonna do that ****.

If war has good pvp though, I will most likely get that game.

Laid back guilds dont get anywhere, like on FF11, there is so much grinding needed for each attempt at bosses, so much downtime with mob clearing ect ect ... -.-

If FF had less pointless Time-sinks I would of stayed with that instead... the PvE was better, the classes were better, the graphics were better, the boss fights were better ...

But waaay too many timesinks (Traveling ect).

When I actually played WoW I put exhorbant ammounts of time in trying to progress in the game and get a feel for the story. The game is really great, and I don't seem to get addicted like everyone else. Its just fun. The only reason why I take half year long hiatuses from that game is because of the general state of my class. Playing a priest will suck your soul. Just take a look at my character though: http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Mug%27thol&n=Matthaeus That took some effort :o.

Well, I was a really good warr. And one peeps start recognizing you for rep and what not it kind of goes to your head. So then all the server "legends" become further legends by creating ultra-end-game guilds. And if you get into one its like the most prestigious thing you can do in WoW. I was getting like 3 epic items a week or more where as in a laid back guild your luck to get one every other week. So pretty much addiction, prestige, and power-gamer asspirations got the best of me.

World of Warcraft is an extremely good MMO, its definitely in my top 3, 1st being FFXI, 2nd is WoW and 3rd is Ragnarok. I still like FFXI the best because its more challenging and more in depth, plus theirs alot more to do.

A Paladin is suppose to a be a Protector (Tank first, healer second) but WoW's twisted Logic made them the best healers up until recently, quite funny really.

Hopefully though, Age of Conan will be good, not looking forward to Warhammer (even though its by the DAoC guys) , and Tabula Rasa will be a different MMO experiance, and Huxley.

Cant take another Everquest clone tbh ...

If there is one genre I don't like, it's MMO's. Too much time to put in for a never ending game.

Thats actually why I like MMOs. You can put as much time as you want into it to get the ammount of reward you want from it. Time played is directly proportional to the reward. If someone wnats to play for a few hours a day and be casual, WoW facilitates that.

Your telling me the world map is small? With eastern kingdoms, kalimdor and outlands, the map is huge, good thing I´m a mage and teleport around, it must be a friggen pain having to travel around without teleports.

Been playing WoW on and off since Feb '05. Its great for filling in gaps when I'm waiting for new 360 games to come out or drop in price. I play it a lot when active but then I often take long vacations where I don't play the game for 2 or more months at a time. I've probably played less than 5 hours since April.

Played it for about a year and a half from launch, it just started going downhill. Grindfest is a word that comes to mind. Craptastic 40 man dungeons.

Grind, grind, grind, the game could have been fun, but Blizzard ruined the game. Gave BC a try and same ol' crap.

Edit: And unfortunately, I wasn't a casual. Through time I could see the glass ceiling was never ending.

I really don´t think it´s blizzards fault, whatever they would have done we would always get sick of it, the time most people invest in the game it´s only normal that it gets to a point where it´s the same old same old. I personaly think Blizz has done an impressive job. Good things can´t last forever I guess.

Thats why I quit playing my priest quite often. Despite the instruction manual calling us the greatest healers, we get a lot of guff because we quite frankly are most definitely not.

Yeah but you have to admit they cant be damage outputters either. How would blizzard balance that? If they could do half the damage of a dps warr I would have rolled pali because that would have been broken. Going back to the days of d&d before mmo's (im a little older the average gs peeps i think). The pali was healer first damage second. Clerics were more damage first healers second. But there are not clerics in wow.

Honestly, for the my first MMO experience it was good. I'm sure it is the best MMO to date, but thats not saying much. I started at launch and from that point on things were starting to just get more hardcore(which is fine in moderation). After the implementation of the honor system PVP wasn't ever the same. I think a lot more casual players will continue playing because they don't even realize they aren't getting anything accomplished.

Lots of hardcore players quit because they saw what was up ahead. When I hit /played and saw 70+ days I was like wow, screw this.

i'll pass i tried WoW at someones house and i've played it. It's a great game but too addicting and bit expensive costing 15 dollars a month, and this game ruins social lives but still a great game, i know someone whos life was ruined by this game.

Honestly, for the my first MMO experience it was good. I'm sure it is the best MMO to date, but thats not saying much. I started at launch and from that point on things were starting to just get more hardcore(which is fine in moderation). After the implementation of the honor system PVP wasn't ever the same. I think a lot more casual players will continue playing because they don't even realize they aren't getting anything accomplished.Lots of hardcore players quit because they saw what was up ahead. When I hit /played and saw 70+ days I was like wow, screw this. CassiusGaius
Thats because you've got the wrong mentality about an MMO. Its not about the end of the road, its about the journey.

For me it was more about becoming a legend. The power gamer in me wouldnt allow any less. My cousins who still play on the server say that peeps still talk about my toon. Fury warr ftw!

Even though when you think about it this game is cheaper for the ammount of content it offers compared to the ammount of games you'd have to buy to get the same ammount of content? I'd rather save money with this game. :p

We're talking sheer diverging content. I don't care if you play Forza for thousands of hours. WoW and other MMOs are the only games that offer that sheer ammount of content.

Guild Wars then, at current going prices you can get the first two campaigns for $70 not counting taxes.

Played it for a while and sold my account around the time AQ came out. It started going down hill after epics started flooding in(my rogue was full tier1/2, so it wasn't a personal gear issue) and PvP kind of lost its spark when battlegrounds showed up. I'll never forget the glorious days of world pvp in BRM and Hillsbrad though. Good times to be a rogue.

Do we want to get into a discussion about guild wars being an MMO? This thread would never end.

You finally reach a point playing where you think "wow this is utterly pointless and full of greedy nerds. I quit"

I wish they had of just made warcraft 4.
