In recent years I've only had experience with 360 and Dual Shock - so I'm choosing out of those two. 360 wins it for me, much more comfortable controller - and those clicky shoulder buttons rock.

Edit: So I voted for Dual Shock 3.

kind of a weird poll selection... you've got current gen mixed with last gen but not every last gen controller and not every current gen controller

Doh, I thought it was asking what has the worst Control pad as in Directional Pad, which is easily the 360. But they meant controller in general, which is easily the Gamecube controller.

N64 should be there but out of those its the Gamecube controller for me. It was utterly useless for too many games. You had one big action button and then a load of side buttons which didn't feel substantial enough. It also felt quite cheap but that's besides the point. You need an even spread of buttons otherwise certain games wont work as well. It was good for shooters, pity the GC didn't have many of them.

The best for me is the Xbox 360 controller. It's got real triggers, the lettered buttons, the analogue sticks in the right order, the one thing letting it down is the clunky dpad but that's nothing. Close behind is DS3, better dpad, light, batteries last for ages, one thing letting it down is I feel the analogue and dpad should be swapped around and the triggers are not good enough.

I love the Dreamcast controller! Have yet to find another that strikes as good a balance between the analog stick and d-pad. I also like the little bumps on the diamond configuration... makes it easy to know what your finger is on just by touch. The only problem with this controller IMO is that it lacks a second analog.

The 360 has a quirky d-pad, but otherwise the controller feels comfortable.

The GameCube has an even worse d-pad, and the right analog is iffy. But the overall ergonomics are quite nice.

The d-pad on the Dual Shock would be okay, if not for that stupid cut-out in the middle! It makes operating the thing with my thumb centered for any length of time an awkward affair. Also my fingers tend to slip off of the stock "triggers". And just the overall "ergonomics" feel extremely dated. On the bright side the analog sticks have a very smooth operation, and the pressure sensitive buttons actually work quite well this time around.

My vote goes to the Six Axis. Since it has all the drawbacks of the DS3, plus it's missing rumble!

Dreamcast by far. I loved the console, but the controller was god awful. Weird shape, one analog stick and the cord coming out of the bottom. Even though I got used to it at the time, I still always thought it was just plain awkward.

I chose the six axis, but my choice isn't there. The worst control pad goes to the original xbox's duke. It was fatter and bigger than the dreamcast controller.

Neither, the very first PS1 controller. The one without analogs. They felt uncomfortalbe

But that's probably due to me playing with those late. When I first played on a PS, I used an analog controller first, which felt more comfy to me.

It's probably just me thinking that though.

Sony had a chance to update their controller for the second time in a row and they didn't so they get my vote. The controller is so damn outdated it's not funny, and gives you horrible strain if you have big hands.

The original controller was made so that it could still be used as a PS1 controller but have the analog sticks as well... then they just kept it that way. Sony make a controller for the 21st century already.

I think the other Xbox controller was far worse. The one with the Start and Back buttons below the left analog stick. I couldn't tell you how many times I hit those buttons with my thumb/palm.

I thought it was regarded as the most ergonomic controller, except on System Wars of course. The D-Pad is probably its only fault. By far my favourite controller for anything but fighters. Playing a shooter on anything else (Except keyboard & mouse) feels out of place.

It's actually a pretty good controller if you use it instead of looking at pictures on the internet.

The buttons on the bottom are only used for weapon changing and such, so they're basically like hotkeys for PC games, and the controller fits in your hand really well.

I would say the DC out of that lot, it was actually a pretty crap controller, 1 analogue stick, only two shoulder buttons (although they were analogue which was a first) and the digital pad had hard corners on top of that. To be honest I think only fanboys or people that never played with every one of these controllers would vote for anything but the DC controller...

On that list, the sixaxis...just because it removed features and has terrible triggers and the same uncomfortable analog placement.

But the worst controller is the wii's classic controller. It's just plain uncomfortable.

The best to me is the wiimote and nunchuck. Wonderful button placement and very comfortable since you can just lay your hands anywhere.

I don't really dislike any other those controllers. I haven't used the PS3's controllers(although to my understanding Sony has only made minor adjustments to their controlelrs design since the PS2) or the Dreamcast controller. So it's just between the Gamecube and 360 for me, I guess.

I didn't like the Gamecube controller as much as the 360 controller. I like the 360's triggers more than the Gamecube's shoulder buttons. Didn't really like the Z button. The face buttons are awkwardly shaped and make it look more like a toy. I actually don't mind the 360's d-pad although I don't play fighters. The Gamecube's on the other hand was a little too small for my taste. Same goes of the C stick. And no select button for the Gamecube? Seems like an odd omission, especially when playing games like Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. Why list last gen consoles though and why two PS3 controllers? Why isn't the Wii's plethora of controllers up there?

Look at that. How are you supposed to comfortably reach the -,+, 1 and 2 buttons? I'm all for change but I'll take no change over controllers with impractical button layouts.
