Worst Main Character

Gordon Freeman is an emotionless, mute tool that for some reason is very popular. He never speaks his mind (or anything for that matter) and does what ever the heck other people tell him to do with no complaints. He he is just the most popular Tool in gaming.

WHY IS HE SO POPULAR!

I can respect Gordon as a gameplay tool used to immerse you, but as a character he is bland.

You do know he wasn't born in America or even remotely seems "American" or anything right? I agree on the "lack of personality" part, but even that right there is a new one for me. :|SpiritOfFire117

It has nothing to do with the actual in-game background of the character, but about the whole tough guy ideal that's so inherent to said culture. Go watch a random Hollywood action movie and the lead character will be like Master Chief.

Where are the events that happen in the game world in that logical story? Why do you need dialogue or background on the character to tell me when, where, what time, what's the conflict in the story? Have you ever written a story? Have you ever heard of plot driven/character driven stories? cainetao11

He is usually pretty good, but sometimes I just find his characteristic of being arrogant a little annoying.

It suits the character, I sometimes just find it a little irksome :P

Still, for the style of game, it is the most applicable attitude. Can't really have a bad-*** half demon with a wimpy attitude.
