The Witcher. No idea why so many people like that game. Hated the gameplay, half the quests were awful, first like 10 hours of the game is just boring.

funsohng

Yeah, I don't think you understood correctly how the quests worked. They intertwine and merge into others, and things become clearer in Chapter 2, where what main quest you take and what order you took them on changes the how story reveals itself.

 Such a cop out - I didn't get it. You sound like Texasgoldrush. I mean the quests were just bad. I don't give a sh*t that they intertwine, they were overly long and just plain boring. That awful quest where you literally just run around the swamp to get like 12 or whatever things was probably the worst quest I've ever played. It's like the triforce quest in wind waker except with an extremely boring environment.

Most disappointing for me probably has to be Guild Wars 2. Not to say it's a bad game, but I really bought into the rabid hype and thought it'd actually kill WoW. Boy was I wrong, and so were a ton of other fanboys. The way ANet hyped that game like the second coming was a total hook, line, and sinker. Dynamic events and hearts are far from revolutionary or even innovative, group combat is a complete mess, WvW isn't nearly as exciting as some WPvP back in the glory days of Vanilla WoW, and the story ranges from boring to cliched. Now I see why the betas were so short and capped at level 30... It's not a BAD game by any means, but it's not a game that's really worthy of my time. I am now convinced, however, that WoW will die when Blizzard wants it to die and no other themepark MMO will be able to take away its crown.

I was disppointed with Battlefield 3, I had high hopes for it but then played it and it turned out to be a hugh rip-off of call of duty even more than it used to be. It's no longer an original war game, the only missing to make it a call of duty replica is killstreaks. I'm going to stick to the Bad Company part of the series..

AvengedSixfold
What about Battlefield 3 makes it anything like CoD?

For me it is a between AC3 and Bayonetta .. I'm a fan of the AC series and I loved all the AC games (yes, even Revelations) but although I finished AC3 I couldn't love that game .. It has many flaws and it is a bug fest

Bayonetta .. I didn't like the character, the setting, the story .. nothing about that game felt great .. and I don't know why a lot of people like this one :? .. I'm a fan of similar games like GoW, Castlevania: LoS, etc .. but Bayonetta for me was awful ..

FFXIII (Worst game in FF history though XIII-2 was better)

ACIII (Just boring and it takes forever just to play the game)

HaloPimp978
Damn, Diablo 3 is pretty close to FFXIII, so I retract my previous statement they are equally terrible. Where are those two people on these forums that defend FF XIII like they are paid to do it?

played wow for a few years and it got old, guild wars 2 does a lot of things better than wow and in some cases not as good but imo overall guild wars 2 is the better game. gw2 has the better combat, better quest, you can actually help people and get help without worrying about xp. gw2 has a unique feel and i played the hell out of it before the big releases and before i got raptr to track my game time.

GT5 for me, after spending 5 yrs in development and 60+m in development costs it was shocking to see how unfinished the game was on its (eventual) release. It seems PD tried to do too much and ended up 'jack of all trades, master of none'.

Ok PD have released many updates for the game to try and drag it to where it should have been in the first place but even with those patches and add ons there are still HUGE failings with the game like hundreds of ps2 level cars and some very poor graphics for all but a a handfull of tracks which really is unnaceptable after so much money and time was spent on the game.

If PD are planning a next gen GT it seems to me they need a new head in place of kazunori yamauchi that can take charge and prioritise to make a good game.

Uncharted 2 would be mine. Everybody raved about it including professional critics and people around here assured me that my worries about gameplay interaction were not a problem in this game. I bought the game with excitement and a very open mind... I kept giving the game the benefit of the doubt every time it did something I found annoying with its gameplay or lack thereof. Eventually it became way to difficult to remain optimistic. Every other game I played from Sony this gen was a better experience.

Recently I tried giving the game a second chance with a fresh state of mind again. My blog has a few details of the attempt. I admit I enjoy some parts, but again I found the same strong criticisms I lobbed at the game's mind numbing lack of player participation as well as the sub par gameplay in general. Naughty Dog is clearly talented in their presentation and attention to detail, I'll give them full credit for that, but I simply cannot enjoy their clear focus on cinematic flourish at the cost of good gameplay.

Seriously what do you want from a game, a game can't do everything that game was amazing the shooting was good the story was great, seriously dont b#tch, id like to know what more you want from the game.

And this is to all the people who are moaning about the big games what else do you want them to do lets make this more I depth, I mean I have my own views on what they could of done and so fourth but id like to here what people would of liked in the games to make them not dissappointing.

I mean mgs 4 I thought was great and tied into the mgs series well and the gameplay was typical mgs

Gt5 yea wasn't great but it built upon what gt was about, was the same.

So i put it to you all, what game dissapointed you and what could they for done to change it and be realistic

Calm down buddy. Developers have to make a series of decisions and for every one of those decisions there will be lovers and haters. It's not about how MUCH they give you, but what they choose to give you.

Naughty Dog chose to deliver a cinematic action movie experience where you ride along in the passanger's seat, but I wanted to be the driver. That is all.

I've thought for a while about what the most disappointing game of last gen for me was, and I'm pretty sure it was MGS4. Up until the last Act, I thought it was an outstanding, if mildly unbalanced game (in terms of gameplay:cutscene ratio). Then the crazy sh!t kicked in and while I tried to excuse a lot of it, I found it more and more difficult as time went on. It was a horrible finish to the Solid arch, despite having potential for greatness. Here's hoping Revengeance and Ground Zeros can make up for it.

I'm talking about The Witcher and I actually classify myself as a hermit :P. The Witcher 2 actually seems to improve on just about everything I found bad about The Witcher, so I'm going to get it. Just won't pay more than $5 because of how little I liked The Witcher.

Could be. Up until then, it was actual surprisingly enjoyable. It still had MGS' excess and nonsense, but it felt pretty restrained. And then Act 4 happened.

Never understood the MGS hate. The story at times in nonsensical and stupid, but I think its meant to be that way. And the cutscenes can be skipped, however I did enjoy them. A common complain in MGS4 is that its more about guns but I think its better, kinda more like Deus Ex as now BOTH options (Stealth and Gunplay) are fairly viable. You can play MGS as you always did and you can opt for a different playstyle for different playthroughs. Maybe this is just me, but MGS4 is actually my 2nd favourite after MGS3 in the series. And the ones I have played are the four in the main series and Peace Walker.

I doubt Kojima would like to agree the stupidity and nonsensical nature of the MGS plot is deliberate.

It doesn't get much worse than Far Cry 2. That is the worst game I've played all gen, possibly ever. As for most disappointing... MW2. I loved, loved, LOVED CoD4 (still do) and all the previous CoD games from Infinity Ward had been stellar. Modern Warfare 2 had every reason to be an incredible game, it had the talent, the legacy, the ambition, the production values... and they f*cked it up. They f*cked it up BAD. Besides the fact that the story is so stupid it's offensive, the MP is nothing short of broken. I have never played anything so buggy, imbalanced, and terribly designed that had so much money and talent behind it. The series has never recovered, and frankly I don't think it ever will.

Worst: Resident Evil 6

Most disappointing: Halo 4, I expected Halo not Call of Duty with shields.
