Poll Would you rather Nintendo get 3rd party or become 3rd party? (105 votes)

NX with 3rd party 55%
Become 3rd party 45%

Basically would you rather Nintendo make a boss ass NX with third party support, or would you rather Nintendo just become aa 3rd party publisher making games for all hardware.

I honestly wish they would go 3rd party, but I don't think that will happen anytime soon.

Get third party, stay a third viable competitor in the console market and give it a kick up its arse. It's stagnating right now.

I want their games on a PC, so my ideal scenario is them as third party. Otherwise, yeah sure whatever if Nintendo had the third party and indie support the other 2 have, I wouldn't even humor the idea that the other consoles would stack up favorably. Nintendo clowns both of them in the first party department, but none of the first party lineups are strong enough to make up for the sheer fact that third party is way more important.

If Nintendo gets third party support I will get an NX. So I would rather see that happen.

I want them to become a 3rd party publisher

I love series like Mario, Zelda and Smash Bros...but I'm not buying a console just for those handful of games. Would love to play them on PC.

I have ZERO faith in the NX.

And frankly, why the **** should I have any faith in it?

I'd rather Nintendo get 3rd Party, because if they go 3rd Party nothing will actually change except their games going to other systems.

Same Games different systems.

The demand for first party Nintendo games just isn't there. The core base of Nintendo keeps falling even with first party titles and not enough of the non-core seems compelled enough by these games to buy a Nintendo console. Certainly people would buy these titles if made available on other consoles but not in the numbers people expect.

Even though I don't like the NX based on the rumors going around right now. I don't want to see Nintendo get out of the console market. It would be a huge loss for the industry

If the demand is there for such "high" quality games, why does the base keep decreasing from console to console? Do you honestly think PS4 and X1 owners are falling over themselves trying to purchase a Nintendo console? Nintendo marks purchase these titles because there isn't anything else for them to play unless they like a $349.99 paperweight.

Become third party, if I just had to worry about another failed generation then fine, they'd eventually get there like Sega did, but if they succeed in an unexpected way, such as the NX fails but because of their DeNA deal then perhaps their cellphone market explodes with the introduction of Nintendo IPs going to smartphones and tablets. We could see a radical change for Nintendo if that happens, one where they abandon traditional console gaming all together and focus on a mobile market because hey, companies follow the money and there's a whole lot of money in the mobile market.

I would not want to see Nintendo go 3rd party, Ever.

I would on the other hand like to see Nintendo With 3rd party quite a bit.

If Nintendo got the same multiplats as Sony and MS does, I would see little use for an Xbox or a playstation, given how similar their exclusives are to most 3rd party games to begin with, Nintendo games tend to feel fairly different, and I would prefer that.

Hell what exclusives from sony and MS have been worth a damn this gen so far? one? two?

The reality is quite simple looking at it objectively. Those buying first party Nintendo games are the marks for this company but that number has continually shrunk from gen to gen with the exception being the anomaly known as the Wii. Mario and Company doesn't have the desired effected like in the past. What good could come from putting your first party games on other competing consoles when the owners of the current and prior consoles didn't show much interest?

I prefer Nintendo as 3rd party since the only game i really like from them is Zelda. And theres no way to buy a console just for Zelda , 3rd party or not , though i would definitly buy Zelda for my system of preference.

get 3rd party. bur dont fuss over the multiplats. make deals for 3rd party exclusives instead.

i think the console market would be a far less interesting place without nintendo...long may they remain in the hardware business.

Xenoblade, splatoon and The last story are IPs owned by Nintendo, think wonderful 101 is aswell. So I can name 3 without trying to dig around.

Not that hard to be honest.

If NX ends up having the best console hardware on the market then that will be preferable. Nintendo exclusives and the best third party multiplats from both the east and west would be a dream come true.

Get third party of course. Less competition is,,, well, look at Sony, they aren't even trying anymore because no one wants an Xbone and WiiU is so dead that soon the WiiU section will be removed from GS. Going 3rd party would be dumb af.

What I think is best? That they get 3rd party support. Better for everyone.

Personally? I wouldn't be playing my multiplats on a console anyways. I only buy consoles for exclusives. In that sense, I'd much rather have Nintendo go 3rd party so I can play their shit on my PC.

Yes, I understand that that's short sighted and the situation is a bit more complicated than that, I'm just tired of buying these boxes for a handful of worthwhile games.

If what I read and hear is true, then if Nintendo consoles had 3rd party support to the effect the other 2 do, then more people would buy them. If the install base is much larger it makes no sense for a business to pass on the potential sales.

Get third party is the right answer.

Nintendo's first party studios are easily the best in the business. If they had third party support, I would never need another console.

@charizard1605: I think it is this way because the 8 buttons controllers are the norm because PC adopted them ... we are now stuck with the same games on three different system. Do we really need them to sell on a fourth system ?

It didn't do them good during the Gamecube days

What's the point if third party support if those games are the same games one can already play on a system like the Playstation 4 or Xbox One and PC. Nintendo need a first party killer apps, and the one game they're probably going to launch with is same game Wii U owners can get, that's the next Legend of Zelda, if they don't have any big first party games beyond that even I don't see a need to go get one yet. People are saying FFVII remake might go to NX, cool but I'm sure people won't be buying an NX for it if they have a PS4, first on PS4 even. This was the a Wii U's third party problem, they didn't just get ports of the same games on Xbox 360 and PS3, they got them late.

They'll need third party exclusives, not just late and more expensive ports like Wii U got.

Three consoles is too much if you ask me. Nintendo should just focus on making great games, let Sony and Microsoft take care of the hardware side of things.

While a part of me would love to be able to play games like Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros on a quality online service like Xbox Live, I ultimately think Nintendo going 3rd party would be bad.

Competition is always good, so if Nintendo left the console market, I think the industry as a whole would suffer a bit. There is also a chance that Nintendo's own games might take a dip in quality; look at what happened to Sega, when they were making their own consoles, they were one of the best game developers in the world, but ever since they went 3rd party, their games are not as good anymore; I don't want to risk the same thing happening to Nintendo. I also appreciate that Nintendo consoles are the one place where local multiplayer is still alive and well; I would hate to see that disappear.

Become 3rd party. I don't even think Nintendo can garner enough support to bring strong 3rd party support back. Even when the Wii was on top, only a handful of quality 3rd party games were made for it. I like Nintendo's creativity when it comes to designing their consoles and their 1st party games, but they're way too comfortable with having underpowered consoles and lacking network features that MS and Sony carry standard. Not sure how much longer I'm willing to buy a Ninty console for only their titles.

They can't go 3rd party. Kiddy games don't sell as 3rd party.

Both PS and Xbox are dudebro and cinematic experiences. And the fans are brainwashed to only like those. Hell, MS's own kiddy don't sell as expected because their dudebro AAA titles. Those fans will just say kiddy games are irrelevant like Sonic. And if first party also make a kiddy game, Nintendo will just get pwnd due to fanboy allegiance.

Thus, Nintendo simply can't go 3rd party because kiddy games will get tossed aside.

Well, I can agree that Nintendo's games wouldn't sell well on a PlayStation/XBOX/PC at the very least. The audiences are too different and considering they have no place in that top 100 list, I refuse to believe otherwise. Nintendo is pretty much what Meg Griffin is to EVERY character in a Family Guy episode (including her own family) to those kind of gamers.
