Would you still buy a console if exclusives didn't exist?

For those who is saying PC is a hassle, what hassle are you guys talking about? This needs to be explain more details then saying hassle you guys.

If there were no exclusives then the choice will go down to where my friends are at.

I dunno. The console/pc line blurs more and more all the time. Thing is, I really just have my macbook. If the PC was small enough and just sat in my entertainment center, I guess I wouldn't. But then wouldn't it kind of be a console?

Games are games, I will buy a console to play these games. And I prefer playing on a console over a PC. And I'll choose the console with better online, backward compatibility, game sharing and more offer more rewards & discounted games.

PC isn't a hassle, but it's a systematic process of learning over time. The reality is that most people don't want to deal with that, making mistakes, having to figure out things, they just want to play video games. Also this forum is the bane of PC gaming existence, it's a bunch of console gamers hiding behind PC right now to act as if they are PC gamers, we all know the demographic here and the PC crossover is not large.

Most would still buy consoles, because they're console gamers, they're simpletons, they want to be simpletons, they don't care.

Now where's the fun in that? I like hearing excuses from console gamers.

Yeah I figure as much but you think a console gamer would learn all of PC gaming by watching youtube vids how it's done at least.

Would be a console with more options(basically better backwardscomp, freedom of choice controllers, play the games at settings you want to play, mods, free online and all that jazz), you can pack a 1080 in mini-itx case which isnt much bigger tan consoles(maybe about twice the size? in velocity)

no. why would i? the modern console doesnt really offer any advantages over a PC. a PC can use any controller, can come in many different shapes and sizes and works just fine on tellies as well as monitors. windows on a 4k screen is just fine to use.

Majority of console gamers own a PC already , thats a fact nowdays. But for the sake of argument lets say none is.

Systematic process or not , even cellphones are some sort of PC , consoles are becoming more and more like PCs with installs , hard drives , online accounts , downloading updates , digital stores etc. So what is really so different with PCs nowdays ?

So i dont get what are you trying to say here. This is not mid 90 or early 2000s that difference between a console and PC were huge where consoles being as simplistic as to enter a disc and start playing.

You can go in a store , buy a ready PC if you dont want to mess with building your own and install windows etc and you are ready to go either by making an account on STEAM and go digital like with consoles or go to the local shop and buy hard copies of your favorite games , yes like with consoles.

Attach an X360 pad or what you like most like consoles , plug your PC on TV as simple as consoles do , install your game exactly in same fashion like PS4/X1 or older consoles do and you are ready to go ...

If I could have all games I want on one machine instead of several? Why would anyone not want that?

A lot of people are buying PS4s, so that right there tells you people will buy consoles with no exclusives.

But I won't be using it, PS Now isn't worth playing PS4 games through PC.

It's easy for us to say no to this since we are all gaming enthusiasts and would accept the challenge of putting together a gaming PC, but for a lot of other people that wouldn't be the case.

If there weren't any consoles then most people would play on laptops or smart phones, and the latter would then be the biggest gaming market for developers. So I feel like PC gaming would get weighed down by that.

What about games that aren't exclusives but only on console like several sports games. Yep guess I would buy a console for that.

Plus what if you like owning a physical copy of a game with resale value? Better get the console version.

I've never bought any console purely to play an exclusive game. I had the original PlayStation cause it was awesome, the PS2 cause it continued that awesomeness. Then was awaiting the PS3, lol $600 idiots ? Passed on that and picked up a 360 on a whim for RB:6. Vegas, and COD:Modern Warfare, got hooked on Live, got a solid group of friends and been on Xbox ever since. Pretty simple really, had Sony not fucked up the PS3, I'd most like had still been on that ship. As I'm sure people did when Xbox One was announced, but I enjoyed the original vision and wanted to see that. Lucky they've just been slowing putting the original vision of Xbox One back in??

No. I have a PC for multiplats.

Sure. 95% of the games i buy for my consoles are multiplatform.

I think exclusive games are a huge draw of dedicated video game consoles. There are other benefits depending on the platform but also certain hindrances such as online subscriptions for example. I feel I would be far less likely to buy a dedicated video game console if exclusive titles didn't exist.

As an importer, the advanced release of Japanese titles on consoles (only coming to PC once localised) would give me a reason to keep a console around.

But if, hypothetically, the PC got these releases at the same time I'd see no reason to own a console TBH.

So like a DVD player? All the platforms play all the games? Yeah, i guess if I wanted to play games I'd have no other choice than to buy one.

I bought PS4 in February and bought gaming laptop in April.

I have around 16 games on PS4 right now. I have a lot of games on PC, but vast majority of them are old games. When it comes to non-indie titles that came out after 2014, I have very few on PC, and certainly not even close to 16 (TW3, Mad Max, Arkham Knight, Overwatch, Wolfenstein, Dragon Age Inquisition).

Yet, once I bought my PC, I flat out stopped playing PS4. Now there are various reasons to this, the biggest one being that I can't use our family's TV whenever I want. But I can still play remote play, and it's great for the most part. But other than The Witcher 3, I really haven't touched a PS4 game since April. And I stopped playing The Witcher 3 on PS4 once I got the game on PC.

So yeah. PC is just far better for me when it comes to accessibility.

If it was 10 years ago and I was playing games with a high frequency, I would've considered a gaming pc, but at this point in life where my kids are very active and life is family focused, Im happy with just having a console or two... Perhaps in 10 years when I'm an empty nester ill reconsider.

PC gaming is definitely the way to go if you're that concerned about optimum performance, plus the lack of yearly subscriptions is a nice perk. I spent a year gaming on pc and at the end of the year I found myself just wanting my Console experience. Simple and effective.
