Other than Vita, a Sony console was never better than the competition in hardware. What makes you think it would happen next gen?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
exactly and people will keep fighting because one version is 0,004 frames per second faster while the other has 7 pixels morei bet its going to be the HD twins part 2....where the games look the same on both systems.

power - PS3 = 360

Tell me more about the hardware specsIm going to put it simple:
CPU: PS3 > 360
GPU: 360 > PS3
Ram: 360 = PS3 (360 also have 10mb of edram).
Format - Bluray discs are better in content but the drive is slower.
Its pretty obvious that both consoles have advantages and disadvantages.

Your whole argument is based on the flawed premise that differences are exactly equal in magnitude. The difference in CPU is bigger than the difference in GPU. And you are looking at it very black and white. Actually the PS3 GPU has many advantages like being at550MHz compared to the 500 MHz of the Xenos.
The PS3 RAM is better since it is faster.
It's true the drive is slower but installs take care of that problem.

PS3 does have more powerful hardware, just not all of it is more powerful :D Also not sure if it matters but PS3 RAM works far faster at 3.2Ghz but it's still only 512MB so what's that going to change...[QUOTE="KBFloYd"]exactly and people will keep fighting because one version is 0,004 frames per second faster while the other has 7 pixels more Than when there is a thread about pc having better graphics and fps. But i agree that PS3 is slightly more powerfull than 360....on paper. In practice, its lack of balance, makes it impossible to take full advantage of...the cell, for example.
360 has a better designed hardware. With time and talent, devs can take full advantage of everything, and reach the same results faster, port game from PC faster, etc

The question is, will a game ever take full advantage of that theoretical extra power?

Not even in the top 5.Lets suppose you are right, and PS3 have 5 or 6 exclusives that look a bit better than the best on 360. 360, on the other hand, have advantage in dozens of multiplats (HD version of RDR, higher framerate in Mass Effect games, Max Payne 3, Crysis 2, etc...
Dont you think its, at least, a tie??

Considering they are more impressive than any multiplat I don't think it's a tie. As you said it's easier to develop for the 360, hence advantage in most multiplats. But if you optimize well then you'll get better results on PS3. Oh and Crysis 2 and Mass Effect 2 were ties really, doesn't matter though since your point still stands.

But i believe some multiplats are more hardware demanding than...Uncharted 3, for example. The fact you think a few PS3 exclusives look better, doesnt tell me much about PS3 superiority. I don't think so. And we know RDR and Skyrim. Being open world doesn't automatically make them more demanding considering they look pretty terrible in comparison and has lots of performance issues. Compare to Infamous 2. It's open world, looks great, lots of NPCs on screen and for the most part performs flawlessly.Well Sony did say that they don't care what MS is doing, they don't care about being 1st or anything like that. They care about having the best games and the most power, so it's possible for them to launch a system that will overshadow the 720 and Wii U with it's power and tech.
If devs decide to focus on multiplats for it (as Sony said they plan on making an easier system to develop for) then it's very likely PS4 multiplats will look vastly better than 720 and Wii U counter parts. It would be like last gen with GTA on PS2 vs GTA on Xbox, vastly superior on one than the other.
But we don't know at this point, it's all just speculation. I'm just basing this off of what Jack Tretton stated. PS3 however is already more powerful than the 360, just look at the exclusives, nothing on 360 can match that.

But i believe some multiplats are more hardware demanding than...Uncharted 3, for example. The fact you think a few PS3 exclusives look better, doesnt tell me much about PS3 superiority.Anyone that thinks 360 multiplats are noticably superior is lying to themselves. You can't tell a difference in 90% of them, that goes for RDR, Skyrim (after update), or almost any other game. If you deny this then your trying to justify your purchase.
However if you ask anyone who has both systems, they will tell you that PS3 exclusives look vastly better than anything on 360. This is a fact. Only the most deluded 360 fanboys will deny this, it's because it makes you upset to admit it. In other words it makes 360 fanboys butt hurt, but it IS the truth.
PS3 has more power under the hood, it can handle games no other console this gen can. MG4, UC, God of War ect....are all impossible on 360. It would be like making Skyrim for the Wii, it just can't handle it.
And many PS3 mutlipats are actually the superior version, they get exclusive content like Batman Joker maps, extra missions and gang hideouts in RDR, Bioshock Challenge Maps ect.....upcoming games like AC3 and Far Cry 3 are both confirmed to be better on PS3 as they both have exclusive content.
