It's actually pretty obvious why it wasn't nominated. The trailer they showed wasn't very good.espoac
I wasn't wowed by it myself either........has the perceived "Halo Gamespot Love" Died you guys think? Is AAA a given? I am wondering myself
[QUOTE="MADVLAD123"]Partly because it wasn't playable, and partly because not much information was released at E3.

Didn't they get to play it backstage or something?
Anyways, E3 awards are a joke.
How much do you wanna bet guys if it was nominated e3 awards would suddenly matter?
was it showed at e3?GunSmith1_basic
yes,M$ saved it to the end like its god or something..lol then it flopped with its crappy animations and graphics.
wow " halo killer" not even nominated either... what be your point cow?hobbit93
Please, just because I said something bad about Halo 3 does not make me a cow.....and to say that the hype for Killzone 2 is as high as the hype for Halo 3 is ridiculous. You would think that the most hyped game since the last Halo came out would atleast get a nomination, no?
Halo 3 isn't nominated because, just like I've been saying for years, the Halo franchise is a dumbed down FPS, and that's why it has such mass appeal. Yes, I enjoy Halo, but I do realize it has a ton of faults, and my main reason for liking it is that there is such a huge population of players and the matchmaking system is done so well that the game becomes fun, despite the gameplay mechanics.
Anyways, Halo 3, when compared to games like Call of Duty 4 coming out around the same time, falls way too short to be nominated.
However, I believe it was IGN that named Halo 3 the best FPS of E3, or at least as runner up to CoD 4. Either way, it's one opinion. People put too much emphasis on these people's opinions. Halo 3 will still be rated high here, it just wont be rated as great as some other games coming out this year.

no there are all noobs, just some less than others. It could be because the majority of halo players are under the age of 14

Uh... sure? I don't really know what you said, but pretty much what I was saying is that there is such a large community that there are always players better and worse than you, so games are usually always fun to play, despite it being a poorly created FPS. I know you think I'm flaming you, as I can see by your nice little Halo 3 sig, but I'm really not, since I enjoy the game and have it preordered (regular edition, lol). I'm just stating that it's not the best FPS ever made as some people like to think it is.

Yes it was... Killzone two is one of the finalists.

Are you HoldThePhone (if I remember correctly)? The one I challenged to a Halo 2 match?
Let me know so you can prove your point that Halo 2 doesn't take any skill...and that your uber CS skillz can be transfered over.

Again, I'm not sure where you're getting that from. I never made a mention of skill level, besides the fact that there are always players that will be better than you and always players that will be worse then you allowing a fair level of competition. I'm honestly not flaming the game, lol, just stating it's not the best and that's why it wasn't nominated my Gamespot who will probably take their LoZ: TP philosophy and give it a lower rating because it's "more of the same."
Who cares if it missed GS awards?
The game will sell more than any other game this holiday (besides maybe GTA IV).

Hey, it's news either way. If it would have won Best Shooter at E3 by Gamespot you can be sure there would be a topic just like this one up. It goes both ways.
maybe i misinturpereted, but the bold is where i got it from. Rob2223
Right... I think it is dumbed down a bit when compared to the FPS multiplayer greats such as Counter Strike and Battlefield, those types of games. However, this is coming from a PC gamer as well as a console gamer. Playing both of these FPS games on both consoles (Halo on Xbox and PC) I noticed that I was very disappointed after playing it on the PC because it just wasn't as good as what was out there. Yes, it was the best Xbox FPS, but it didn't have much to fight against. Add multiplayer and it became a hit.
I just think that the game could be much more...say...advanced... then it is and still maintain the appeal that has kept the casual as well as the hardcore playing. I'm hoping Halo 3 multiplayer will take some chances but from the Beta I gathered that not much has changed.
I'll admit I'm a console gamer over a PC gamer, but if you have played any of the great online FPS games on the PC, I would be surprised if you said Halo was not a "dumbed down" FPS that is mainly popular because it was the first FPS to work on a console.

I play CSS a lot and I don't find Halo "dumbed down" whatsoever in terms of multiplayer.
