Wow PS3 sales dropped by a lot just a week after MGS IV (vgchartz)

no not really. actually i was really impressed by the reviews and was considering a ps3 purchase because i did not want to miss out. june 12th i almost actually did it to. however, i realized i was just getting caught up in the hype after trying it at my friend jeff's apartment. Thinking it deserves a 9.0 instead of a 10.0 isnt really hate, because 9.0 is still a terrific score. i understand fanboys get over emotional about this stuff but honestly all of you ought to calm down a little and learn that not everyone in the world is going to like the same game you worship as much as you do.

Brett Favre didn't play great this year? I could've swore he led his team to the NFC championship and passed for over 4,000 yards. Half of the season he didn't even have a running game to speak of, and that's quite impressive to people who know about football. Obviously, that's not you.

And clearly, those sales numbers weren't going to continue. Sure, MGS4 is a great game, but a game would have to be unbelievable to go week after week with sales like that.

your missing the point. madden covers should go to someone who distinguished himelf above other players. sure he got to the playoffs but he did his signature favre choke with an interception on the last play. typical. manning, brady, strahan, moss.....so many players deserve that more based on their actual performance but Favre got that because he was retiring. even most green bay fans know this.

As I said eariler about MGS4 winning GOTY, I'm making a prediction that there will be a hyped 360 game that is going to have its and xbots feelings hurt once it comes out and gets reviewed. I played MGS4 for about four hours this weekend and with exception to the cutscenes the graphics did not impress. The gameplay was boring and the character models seem just as animated as in MGS 3 and 2. Snake seems to move the same way. Kojima may have been aiming for nostalgia but it dissapointed me because I thought the awful gamecube textures I was seeing were the result of trade off between that and awesome new animations but nope.

Cutscenes were cool but often becamse obtuse and pretentious.Ultimately boring. MGS4 is a good game but I dont see how its a ten other then as a form of tribute to the series.

GTA4 on GR is at 97%, but yet that doesnt stop people from doing the same thing

not only am i making 900 bucks a week i got my best buy statement the other day saying i had 502 dollars in credit available. i guess im just hating what i cant have....even though i COULD very easily have it if i wanted.

I find in my experience, that when people start boasting about how much they make, they aren't really making that amount. Usually it is just posturing so that they can try and belittle those ridiculing them. If someone believes I have no money or make very little, I just laugh. oh and since you asked i work for an engineering firm about 20 minutes north of NYC. currently i work in the land surveying division doing mostly topographic surveys but also( my favorite) i do fathometric surveys by boat for the purpose of bridge inspections and waterfront planning. our firm has a contract with the NYS DOT( dept of transportation) to inspect about 200 bridges in the long island and NYC area so during the summer i do a lot of that. also ive been learning to draft so i can go out in the field and collect data and return to the office and post process the information and make a map all on my own. its not the most glamourous job i assure you. last week i was wading in the bronx river and fell in. filthy river. the hudson too for that matter. today was cool though because we launched our C-Hawk( 24' boat with cabin) under the George Washington Bridge and went down to Weehawkin NJ( right across the river from manhattan) to do a fathometric survey so that setting was pretty cool.

fathometric surveys simply put are meant to obtain mudline elevations of the bottom of bodies of water. in the case of a bridge inspection we will compare this to a previous fathometric report to see how much scour( number one reason for bridge failure - basically it means erosion) has occured. in the case of waterfront design it is important for engineers to know what the mudline elevations are( we dont measure depths but rather obtain elevations since the Hudson is tidal after all).

So that's what I do. I went to college for Civil Engineering and would like to finish but this is cool for now and actually land surveying goes hand in hand with civil so this experience will help in the future.

i really get the feeling these fans are part of a religious cult. first off they have an intricate mythology with heroes and villainns some supernatural. secondly they pretty much hate anyone who does not worship their god.

i mean you go to a church and say "jesus was a pretty cool guy but not QUITE a ten." and you will probably get a similar result to what you find here when you dont think MGS4 is perfect.

lol i agree. too much hype leads to fallout when reality sets in and people start wishing they spent 500 dollars on something else. Same thing happened with GTA4 but since most people did not buy a system for that game there would be less buyers remorse.

Now that MGS4 is out and done with, ps3 can fail all over again.Phazevariance

lol i love how it was only like a week of increased sales. despite the fan service given by gamespot and IGN. Despite the endless hype avalanche...plus it sold in two weeks what Halo 3 sold in ONE. its the definitive computer animated movie with brief interactive sequences of this generation of..........um....movies with brief interactive sequences. yeah.

First off, Trying to compare Quarter backs and games equals no. Paying tribute to a great quarterback and a game getting a 10 because it's the "last in the series" according to you, isn't even comparble. Games are things which receive ratings for how good they are, and obviously MGS4 is a great game. Second off, even though you won't admit it, nor will any other hardcore lemming, if MGS4 were a 360 exclusive and got a 10 there would be nothing of criticism coming from the likes of you. Also bringing in Gamerankings, now that a PS3 exclusive has gotten a 10; hypocrisy at its finest.

It's not about quarterbacks. It has a lot more to do with human nature and nostalgia. Bret Favre has not put up great numbers in at least a decade and everyone knows that but it's not about his recent performance. It's about his dynasty and how people followed his whole career and regarded him as a hero. When a hero leaves a tribute is made not reflecting the most current state of the hero but rather his exploits as a whole. I know this hippy everyone thought was a scumbag until he took his life with a shotgun then everyone was saying he was such a saint. You see when humans are faced with losing something....with saying goodbye we generally take pause and judge things not as critically as usual. This is what happened with MGS4 but I think some reviewers really went off the deep end.

Ok, first off I agree that Favre is only getting the cover because he is retiring. BUT.. how can you say he hasnt done anything in the last decade? Do you even watch football? Im not even a Packer fan but I know that Favre was still putting up decent numbers. Not only have your proved that you dont keep your word (you said you would leave SW if MGSIV got a 10 ) you also show that you dont know much about gaming or football.

Just last year he finished 4th in passing yards, 4th in completions, 4th in completions percentage, 4th in yards per game (get the feeling he is still pretty darn good?) 6th in TD passes, and 6th in QB rating. But I guess he is only mediocre.

Dude I never said he "did nothing" I said he was mediocre and fourth place IS mediocre! Of course not everything he's done has been poor I agree. For example having the most interceptions EVER in NFL history is simply horrible. What kind of response are you looking for with the pathetic "you not only dont keep your word, but your a bad man who does not know video games or football...." LOL! GTFO!

Whats funny is I think everyone knows by now that liquid shouldn't even be here. He has never and will never touch this game. He was made out to be a fool for all here to see and now he still continues to hate on the game (an inanimate object) not realizing that its his own fault.
