that's cool,but I disagree,The artstyle is very clever and ironic.To be quite honest,what From Software has done with this game is alot more creative than alot of these games nowadays that try and look photo-realistic..i'm too lazy to type anymore soo *inserts my pretentious post modern paragraph* :)

the health bar might be the same, but so is the mini map in all sandbox games. compared to GTA

meh... Dante's Inferno is not a rip off..... I assume you think it's ripping off God of War right? Do you think God of War was the 1st action/hack & slash? Sure the gameplay resembles it... but does it copy sound effects, weapons, enemies?

But,I am pretty sure that atleast From Software can atleast admit 3d dot heroes is borrowing (or if you wanna be harsh..RIPPING OFF) other games.unlike alot of generic crap you see on consoles nowadays that steal from older games and tries to pass off as original,yet gets praised to high heaven...and from what i've been reading (and alot of people seem to think so as well),3d dot heroes appears to be a kick-back that is fully aware of it's parody of the 8-bit era of the adventure/RPG genre,and does not take itself very seriously.

and besides,you say Zelda/Dragon Quest rip-off like it's a bad thing,these games are classic and you don't see very many of them nowadays which is sad,so it's nice to see something like this be made.

I wasn't even aware that was a bandwagon. My opinions are my own. :s

As for TP, just because I said I'd probably enjoy this game more doesn't mean that I didn't enjoy TP. It was a good game, although I don't think it was anything spectacular. I like the N64 titles because they have a mysterious air to them and feel more like glimpses into legends than videogame narratives. And, of course, they are spectacular. I like anything mysterious-seeming.

Edit: And 3D dot game heroes just looks like fun.

On one hand, the homage is quite obvious and intentional, which is better than what most developers do with just straight up clones.

On the other hand, at what point can you use "homage" and being a parody as an excuse for plagiarism? I'm sure there's more to the game than what's been shown in the trailers, but at this point besides the art style I don't think there's been a single creative idea shown. And I don't mean just similarities, I mean things lifted straight out of other games (Zelda specifically).

All that being said, I think it will be a good game, God knows we need more games like Zelda out there. I'm much more excited for Spirit Tracks though.

So wait... since when can a company hold a patent on a type of gameplay? It doesn't infringe on Nintendo's copyright on the Zelda IP... so what's the deal? Sure, it resembles a Zelda game... but it also resembles any NES adventure game from the early era. Dr. Mario is a Tetris ripoff. Saints Row is a GTA rip off. Quantum is a Gears of War rip off. The game looks like a clone of A Link to the Past. I know, I just finished the game *refer to sig*.

Weapons, enemies, objectives, style of play. They aren't just mimmicked, God of War or DMC or Dante's Inferno.

Strangely enough the main character here closely resembles one from 3D Game Dot Heroes.

Lets be honest. Zelda is great. and there are basicly no other games like it. There should be though. I remember hearing something about this game having a level editor of sorts kind of like Little Big Planet. I wonder if you can build an entire new game with this game?

^ i thought wolf creek was awful. but i think this game, the point is that it looks like a mix of zelda and the original dragon warrior. hopefully it'll be better than the last couple of zeldas (link in 3d lost me, i don't really like the 3d zeldas that much)

Yup, copyright pertains to direct copies. This would fall under trademark and even that is lax: similarities are fine as long as the derivative product doesn't confuse the customer into thinking they are buying the original.

It's pretty cool, I'll be getting it, but the more I watch it the more I want to play old school Zelda games instead.

I love Zelda and I love my Wii, but what all of you are saying is completely wrong. You can't sue someone for having gameplay similar to your game. Nintendo didn't sue Epic for Shadow Complex.

Also, to those of you saying the weapons are similar, Nintendo didn't invent swords, bows or grappling hooks. What weapons do you expect them to use?

Finally, From wants their game to be like Zelda. Those games were great. Who's to say that this won't be great as well?
