Forbes contributors are basically bloggers. Guy doesnt know how to work the settings on his tv had it set to default.
this most likely. I watched the same Movie as him as well as wonderwomen on a 75inch sony 4k TV and both looked amazing, but then again i took the 5 mins to set it up right

at least update your title, confirmed patch coming to fix the issues
Just imagine how much Ms could have saved if they didn't put in a hardware that really has no support . The Xb1x could if cost 399 instead :(
@jahnee: I don't know what you think this place is, but the 12 of us here aren't going to change the fates of the x1x, especially when i didnt write the article. Go bitch at him - his article's all over the web. But I can't get one damn news outlet to pick up my thread here. Talk about bias!
i prefer 3D to 4K
unfortunately 3D is on life support.
It's not even on life support, it's dead (at least in the sense you can't actually buy a 3D-TV right now).
This actually pisses me off because I have a bunch of 3D blu-rays (probably like 100), and have only seen about half of them in 3D. I never actually had a 3D TV, but I had a buddy that did so I occasionally watched them at their place (they obviously enjoyed me supplying the free blu-rays to watch). I never minded paying the extra $5, and sometimes I'd get deals where the 3D version was the same price anyway. Unfortunately their 3D TV died. Unless they bring back 3D TV models, I might never get to see the other half of the 3D movies. All the manufacturers should have at least kept it as a feature in one of their mid-range or high end models. I might lament that I didn't get one of those OLED's that had 3D, but I just didn't need a new TV yet and they were rediculously expensive. I figured I'd wait a few years for them to hit $1000,but I never imagined they'd just "drop" 3D. My understanding is they eliminated it in the last couple years because they were all going for "maximum brightness" levels, and the 3D layer was an impediment to that. It was just about having the marketing bragging rights, not any practical reason or even cost savings reason.
I bought a 3D 4K HDR TV earlier this year. I own a 65" LG UH658500 I believe is the number.
@ermacness: let’s answer this question in a few parts. The games that can do 4K are generally weak games. It was said all of these games were going to be 4K and more and more are coming out that aren’t. Also you can’t build a 4K PC at that price point as you can’t build a 4K console at this point in time. Simple as that.

First the bold part, where do you want them???
Secondly the underlined part, MS said it's GAMES were going to be native 4k, and that developers could use the X's power however they wanted, I don't know where you got that ALL games were going to be native 4k.

Halo 5 isn't...
@Diddies:
However, the x1x does have a good number of games being displayed at a native 4k resolution. How many people you know, who have a 4k capable PC to total out to 500 bucks?
I'll wait.
Buy a PC with the cheapest available CPU and a GTX 1060. Native 4K/30fps should be attainable by dropping some settings down from max. Kinda like the X1X does.

Halo 5 was less than 900p on Xbox One at times, with that in mind it one hell of an upgrade and totally what Microsoft said it would be.

Then learn how to put it together and find an area where you can fit it in your front room, preferably where nobody can see it cos it will be butt ugly.
PC enthusiasts only may apply.
Alternatively you can buy the Might Xbox One X or even the PS4 Pro for that matter.
Totally different markets.

Why move the goal posts? He asked for a PC that can do 4K/30fps. It's doable but with compromises. Just like the X1X.
@Juub1990:
No I didn't. I asked for someone to build everything the x1x come with in a PC build for 500 bucks. You can't call anyone out on goalposts moving, when you did it 1st.
Actually you did not specify to meet everything the One X offers so you are being dishonest. See below page 1 of this thread.

Well a lot of news was coming out that a lot of these games were coming out to be 4K. Unfortunately the Xbox couldn't achieve it. Only a select few could and they aren't any games that demand that much insane hardware. Secondly, MS really stated and still do that this is a True 4K console. Now we know what their definition of true is. Also they stated they are going to build a console with no compromising. Which they obviously did. Not trying to rag on the Xbox One X as I think it is a step in the right direction, but I still think they didn't do enough on it. I believe they should have marked the price to be $600 and thrown a better CPU in there. They stated when this console was announced that it was targeted to a hardcore gamer and no compromising to get it there. They stated they will still sell more Xbox One S and that will basically be their bread and butter with the Xbox One X targeting a different group. With a extra $100, you still are in the price range of the hardcore gamer. I know they are scared to do this as the PS3 was released at this price and it had a rocky start. However, this is not the case here as they have a Xbox One S already on the market which can be had for cheaper.
@Diddies:
All I see is opinionated excuses. Let's put it like this to end it all, the x1x is a MUCH better value than a 500 dollar PC.
*Checkmate*
You are just blind. It still isn't a 4K console like you stated. Hell if you call it a 4K console then call the Pro a 4K console as well. And who cares about the $500 price point. It still can't do 4K consistently. My PC will shit all over it, and you know what...my GPU cost about 50% more than the X. My PC is a real 4K PC, and I don't even play on 4K. I chose ultra-wide as I do it for working, as well as the games are really immersive in this resolution. And guess what else...My PC cost more and it has better graphics...who would have thought? lol Here is the thing...I didn't care about the price point when I built my PC as I wanted the BEST possible experience and I am sorry you don't have it.
*checkmate*
Or whatever dumb saying you put on here to make yourself feel like you won some kind of debate. Also you flip-flop your argument and called it a 4K console with anyone you knows just a little about hardware knows it really isn't. Like I stated above by MS guidelines of a 4K console then Pro can calls theirs a 4K console as well. Also I could build a PC for about $100-$200 more that would shit all over it as well. Then I could say..."well can you build a console to match my PC?" oh...wait...you don't even have that option.

I do not get this as you can't build a 4K PC for $500 and you can't buy a 4K console for $500. Hell you can't even buy a console that does 4K consistently. If you want the BEST experience then you will buy a PC that is capable.

We can't help it if you do not have the knowledge on how to put together a PC. Also they make really small form factors for a Micro ATX build if you want one that is smaller. Also a PC enthusiast are not he only ones that are capable of building PCs. I bet you anything that you could too. You might not think that highly of yourself but I believe in you. I also believe they at totally different markets as generally more casual people buy a console and play. They don't want to go through the building or researching PC parts to do this. However, if you are a hardcore gamer then you will at least appreciate what the PC does, and strive to having the greatest experience.
@Juub1990: i still dont understand that logic
The xb1x has native games, it has games running at 4k/30fps and it has a few hitting 60 fps
So how does that make it a non "4k/30fps" machine? Thats not logical at all.
Is your excuses frame drops? Because that also happens on all the consoles and computers since each build is different
Trying to wrap my head around your mentality here

The logic is he asked for a 4K PC which the X1X isn't. As it stands, a huge chunk of AAA games(even most I believe) aren't native 4K on X1X or use dynamic resolution.
@Juub1990:
What renders your point "moot" is the fact that the x1x does have games that run @ 4k/30, and even some of them @ 4k/60 (although a very small number of them, but still). I see the cup as half full, while it seems like you want to see it as half empty.

It's a half cup regardless so does it really matter? Point is a 4K/30fps PC for 500$ is easily feasible. You'll have to make compromises but so does the X1X.
@Juub1990:
While I don't believe you in the slightest (for I know that the games on that 500 dollar PC won't look nearly as good as they do on the x1x) you're not only getting a gaming console for 500 bucks.
I don't care that you don't believe me. A GTX 1060 can play games in 4K if you target 30fps and drop the settings. Just like the X1X. "Not nearly" as good. That's bullshit. You'll get native 4K/lower settings vs dynamic/checkerboard/higher settings.
lol I'm sure they will fix this like they fixed the black crush issue that started on Xbox 360 and is still present. TLHBO.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/johnarcher/2017/11/12/the-xbox-one-x-4k-blu-ray-player-is-a-disaster/
I still thonk the Pro needed one - but it sounds like this isn't that hot an option. Still, what was Sony thinking
So at first, I was disappointed that the PS4 Pro did not have a 4K Blu-ray player, but then I did my research and found out that it actually doesn't matter. Let me explain. Films are shot in 2K resolution and are actually downscaled to 1080p (Blu-ray). 4K Blu-rays are just upscaled to 4K- that's it. There is virtually zero difference between a 4K blu-ray and a 4K TV with a PS4 Pro upscaling a regular Blu-ray to 4K because you get the same result. Basically, 4K Blu-rays are more or less a scam because it literally makes little to no difference because the image is going to get upscaled regardless. When you buy a 4K Blu-ray it is already upscaled for you, but if you buy a regular Blu-ray, your hardware does the upscaling for you producing the same result. So why would you spend almost double the price on a 4K Blu-ray as opposed to a regular Blu-ray? The answer is you shouldn't.
@scatteh316: Ok then you can give MS shit for that, but not for them stating ALL games would be like diddies stated in his post.

When I say all (all the games that were announced to come out at 4K), I am talking about the ones that were announced that were coming out at 4K. If this is your argument then that just proves the Xbox One X is a failure. Come on...do some critical reading and take in context clues.

The guy who doesn't own these parts and knows nothing about them. The 1080 Ti can do 4K ultra settings in every game with over 95% being above 60 FPS. It has a few games right now that are dropping in the 50s but they are at ultra settings. Drop them down to high and you will have a solid 60 avg in the few games that were unable to maintain 60 avg. Get out of here. Here we go with your dumb statements again. I see you get owned in every thread and people make fun of you on this forum and the PC forum as well with some of the non sense that you say.
Console manufacturers have latched on to 4k far too early, they should have went for 60+ fps first.
I can understand why they did it though, 4k is much more appealing and exciting to casual gamers than 60 frames per second. Especially when Joe Blogs doesn't understand the advantages that higher frame rates bring when they are so used to 30 fps (and often less). To this day there are many people who believe "the human eye can't see more than 30 frames per second" crap. In reality the only ones who benefit from pushing 4k gaming are console and TV manufacturers.
You could make a console with the specs for 1080p/60FPS but game studios would still put graphics above framerate.

That's the thing though, they are pushing 4k resolution not graphical fidelity. The GPU in the X Box One X is more than capable of 1080p (maybe even 1440p but that's not a TV resolution) with Ultra settings and 60fps. Instead they chase the industry buzz words with low frame rates and med/high settings.
2018 will be the first year with GPU's capable of proper 4k gaming (60+fps, Max settings) and they'll likely be in the $700 (£650 in my language) range.
