The PS3 no where near makes the same amount of money than the 360 does.I love how you pull numbers out of your arse...even if you are trying to make a legimite point. It just shows how completely objective you are...The attach rate for games per console sold is 3 to 1 in favor of MS. the average 360 owners purchase 8 games compared to 2.5 for the PS3. This is most likely where the numbers come from along with Live marketplace sales.
Microsoft also make serious money off of XBL and all the micro-transactions. 20+ million subscribers x $50 is already $1 billion. That's not even taking into consideration people buying clothing for their avatars or buying games like Braid or Castle Crashers. If the average is $50 spent per year per subscriber, that could be another $1 billion.
And, as we all know, Microsoft charges way too much for their accessories, which is another great avenue of profit. Probably third to XBL & licensing fees, but every little bit helps.BURSTIIIFIRE
1) PS3 attach ratio is 6.5 as of April 2009 (before some major PS3 games i.e. UC2, InFamous, etc came out). The 2.5 ratio came straight from 2006 I believe. Don't spin this, just how is the 7.5 ratio for the 360 3 times bigger than the 6.5 for the PS3?
2) The 20 million figure from MS is PR bull. It includes Silver members, who do not pay. Only about half of that is made of Gold members. Of course this is still very significant, and Live's profits completely trumps the PSN revenue almost 6 to 1. But you're still making a outright hyperbole of a lie.
Other than that, I agree with you. I almost felt that this was some sort of troll post if you haven't made your statement at the end.
Also, this projected value thing means very little. The economical analysts has been wrong since the dawn of time (and the right-wrong ratio isn't really impressive IMO.)
